In 2011 Robert Gates said existing Pentagon system doesn't allow America to fight a war, only to plan one:
5/16/11, "Gates praises Obama's call on bin Laden raid," CNN
"Gates, the only Cabinet member from the previous administration to stay on when Obama came into office, is expected to step down this year.
Former President George W. Bush nominated Gates as the nation's 22nd secretary of defense in December 2006 to replace Donald Rumsfeld."...
Near end of the article:
"The defense secretary also lashed out at the institution he runs during the wide-ranging interview, criticizing Pentagon bureaucracy.
"I think the hardest thing for me to deal with is leading a department that is organized to plan for war but not to fight a war.
And so everything that I wanted to do to try to help the men and women in the field, I've had to do outside the normal Pentagon bureaucracy ... that's been very frustrating," he said.
"I've ruffled a few feathers at all the institutions I've led, but I think that's part of leadership."

Comment: Gates knew US policies deliberately killed and maimed Americans and but waited until 2014 to say so. If Gates knew, everyone knew, and it remains so today. The problem is that Americans accept a government that murders them.

"In his last two years in office...Bush's foreign policies veered very far to the left."
Gates’s role in shaping this radical shift was evidenced by the positions he took on the issues of the day in the two years leading up to his replacement of Donald Rumsfeld at the Pentagon. In 2004, Gates co-authored a study for the Council on Foreign Relations with Israel foe Zbigniew Brzezinski calling for the US to draw closer to Iran at Israel’s expense.
Immediately before his appointment, Gates was a member of the Baker-Hamilton Iraq Study Group. The group’s final report, released just as his appointment was announced, blamed Israel for the instability in Iraq and throughout the Middle East. Its only clear policy recommendations involved pressuring Israel to surrender the Golan Heights to Syria and Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria to a Hamas-Fatah “national unity government.”

Republican Party has merged with Democrats:
“The Republican Party’s leaders have functioned as junior members of America’s single ruling party, the UniParty. Acting as the proverbial cockboat in the wake of the Democrats’ man-of-war, they have made Democratic priorities their own when the White House and the Congress were in the hands of Republicans as well as in those of Democrats, and when control has been mixed. The UniParty, the party of government, the party of Ins, continues to consist of the same people. The Outs are always the same people too: American conservatives. They don’t have a party. Whatever differences exist within the Uniparty, between Republican John Boehner and Democrat Nancy Pelosi, between Republican Mitch McConnell and Democrat Harry Reid, get worked out behind closed doors. Those differences are narrow.”…

In 2007 Peggy Noonan wrote that George Bush destroyed the GOP, and that this had serious implications for the country:

“What President Bush is doing, and has been doing for some time, is sundering a great political coalition. This is sad, and it holds implications

but for the American future....
But on immigration it has changed from “Too bad” to “You’re bad.” "...

"Afghanistan is controlled by a structured, mafiaesque system, in which money flows upward via purchase of office, kickbacks or "sweets" in return for permission to extract resources (of which more varieties exist in impoverished Afghanistan than one might think) and protection in case of legal or international scrutiny. Those foolish enough to raise objections are punished. The result is a system that selects for criminality, excluding and marginalizing the very men and women of probity most needed to build a sustainable state."...

Comment: Obama "acts alone," because he knows UniParty Republicans will never stop him. The united political class is great for defense contractors, great at killing and maiming Americans, taking billions of taxpayer dollars every month for years on end to impoverish ordinary Americans and enrich organized crime and cronies.
