The businessman, fresh off hosting SNL, held a rally at the Prairie Capital Convention Center before heading to Milwaukee for a GOP debate.
The venue's capacity is estimated around 10,000, but WMBD News was told 10,200 people packed the arena. Unofficially, some 18,000 people registered for tickets.
Trump spoke for an hour, mixing common Republican talking points with his unconventional approach.
“We
will defeat ISIS; we will build our military strong; we will take care
of our vets,” Trump shouted to loud applause and cheers. “I believe in
the Second Amendment. I want to be able to protect myself.” He told the crowd he’s tired of business as usual in Washington.
“I
want to have leaders that are unpredictable,” Trump explained. “I don’t
want leaders saying, ‘we are sending 50 men to Iraq. We’re sending 50
men to Syria.’ Why don’t we just send ‘em?”
Trump also repeated immigration remarks, which have been called controversial.
“You
remember the reporter? He said, ‘you know anchor baby is a very
derogatory term.?’” Trump recalled an exchange he had with a reporter in
New Hampshire. “I said what would you suggest I say? He said, ‘child of
an undocumented immigrant who happened to be born on the wrong side of
the border.’ I said no thank you.”
Ed Gregory was first in line, just after 8 a.m. He told WMBD Trump will bring a new level of respect to America.
"No one respects this country anymore," Gregory said. "It's always, 'we give up.'" Gregory believes Trump will give voters a voice.

"Right
now, we don't have a say," Gregory explained. "We're just down here and
then all the politicians are up here doing what they want and not
giving us anything."
Trump is looking to carry his momentum
in the polls to Milwaukee tomorrow where he'll square off with his
fellow candidates for a Fox Business Debate."
