3/5/13, "Memo to Jeb Bush: Tell the truth. There is a line. Don’t make immigration worse," Canada Free Press, Marinka Peschmann
"Yesterday former Republican governor of Florida, Jeb Bush, and Clint Bolick, a leading constitutional litigator, embarked on a media tour to promote their book Immigration Wars: Forging an American Solution (Simon & Schuster released today).
The authors’ claim their book will help solve America’s immigration crisis. Unfortunately, based on an op-ed written by the authors in the Wall Street Journal: “Jeb
Bush and Clint Bolick: Solving the Immigration Puzzle—Some want
illegals to return to their native countries and ‘wait in line’ like
everyone else. There is no line,” they are playing politics with the truth. Why? Because they assert there is no waiting line. That is simply not true.
As I reported here, excerpting from my book Crime & Incompetence: Guide to America’s Immigration Crisis (One Rock Ink February 2013), there is a line. Äctually there are lots of lines and some of them are very, very long....
Click here to see the lines.
In this sound-bite society it is critical to be 100% clear and
accurate because most people only hear the sound-bite and will think
there are no lines. Now that the line issue has been cleared up, let’s
look at what else Bush and Bolick wrote:
“There is no “line.” Critics of comprehensive reform often argue that
illegal immigrants should return to their native countries and wait in
line like everyone else who wants to come to America. But unless they
have relatives in the U.S. or can fit within the limited number of
work-based visas, no line exists for such individuals.”...
Now, let’s look at one of the longest lines to see how long this new
category/line (UIAB) would have to be assuming these illegal aliens were
not permitted to cut into the legal immigration line as President Obama
had promised when he demanded a path to citizenship (a promise he
already broke as I reported here). Remember, who created these legal immigration lines? Washington lawmakers from both parties.
If you are a legal immigrant from the Philippines and filed for legal
status to live in America in 1989 in the F4 (family based) category,
according to the State Department March Visa bulletin, your “priority number” has just come up‚ after twenty-four years of waiting.
Congratulations! But, not so fast. These legal immigrants cannot get
too excited yet that they will receive a Green Card because this
“priority number” simply means they have to get into another line. ¬†The next line is called the 1-485 (the FBI background check ), and works in conjunction with the 1-693 (the medical and vaccination).
Assuming these legal immigrants have not died while waiting and their
family-sponsor is also still alive, the I-485 line, which is always
backlogged, could add more months if not years to their wait. Then, only
then could they be granted a Green Card. From there an additional five
years must pass before these legal immigrants may apply for U.S.
citizenship with the right to vote. That’s at least thirty years from
now....
For those pundits and experts who are confused as to why Jeb Bush has dramatically reversed his stance
on a path to citizenship for illegal aliens, and suddenly had an
epiphany that it is not a good idea, (according to Bush now the illegals
can work but not receive the right to vote), there is no need to be
confused. As I reported in Crime & Incompetence, and
documented why, any path to citizenship would take the Republican Party
which is already on well-deserved life support and kill it. Wake up.
It’s about the vote grab and politics. The Democrats have out
vote-grabbed the Republicans and no amount of pandering on the Right
will change that. It would defy logic if Jeb Bush did not know how his
brother, President George Bush’s executive order
helped Obama win re-election. It’s worth noting that I warned that
would happen before the 2012 election while the “experts” were
predicting a Mitt Romney landslide. After all, the same citizenship
programs worked for Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election and are operating
today. The question is will Republicans get it before they destroy
themselves?
If Bush and Bolick are truly sincere about fixing immigration and not
playing politics, the best place to start is by telling America the
truth about why it is broken instead of just saying it is broken and
making it worse. As Crime & Incompetence: Guide to America’s Immigration Crisis
documents, crime and incompetence at the United States Citizenship
& Immigration Services (USCIS), formerly known as the INS, has been
the norm through Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, and now Obama—ever since
President Ronald Reagan last passed amnesty. America’s immigration
agency is an anti-legal, anti-job, arbitrary, lawless, unaccountable
agency which, like the open borders, has created the immigration
crisis, and damaged the economy and national security. Dumping millions
of illegal aliens into this system and creating new lines will only make
the crisis worse. Do not be deceived by the politicians, like Jeb Bush,
who claim fixing immigration is complicated. It’s not. It’s called
common sense."...via Mark Levin twitter
