for Prosperity, executives of which met with a number of top Freedom
Partners donors at the January (2014) conference, has spent roughly $30 million
on advertising against Senate Democrats in recent months. Groups that
played a major role in previous cycles, including Crossroads and the
American Action Network, have spent a small fraction of that amount.

Karl Rove thing is out,” said one donor, who asked for anonymity

Comment: This article was mostly about the Kochs. From the headline and big picture of a Democrat billionaire at the top I thought it was going to be about both parties. Since it's the NY Times, I should've known. The quote about Rove made it worthwhile.
