Colder winter cited for drop in Manhattan car thefts and robberies but weather didn't stop other violent crime spiking in Bloomberg's Manhattan, one comparing it to 42nd St. before it was cleaned up

"Car thefts fell 5.9 percent and robberies dropped 18.6 percent — a decline attributed in part to the cold winter." Data from first 3 months of 2013.

"Some of Manhattan’s wealthiest neighborhoods are exploding in a wave of violent crime that hearkens back to the bad old days when people feared going out at night, according to NYPD data obtained by The Post....
