France first published official death estimates for people in care homes on the 31st of March. The % of all deaths among care home residents has ranged from 39.2% to 51%. The most recent numbers published by the Ministry of Health on the 16th June reported a total of 29,547deaths as a result of COVID-19, of which 14,341 (49%) were residents in care homes23. Of these, 10,457 (73%) died in the care home and were mostly “probable cases” where a doctor confirmed that the symptoms were associated with COVID-19. The remaining 3,884 (27%) died in hospital and were confirmed through testing24.”...
