Syria continues removing terrorists from Idlib and freeing innocent Syrians held hostage there thanks to help from its humanitarian neighbor and friend Russia. Estimated 1.5 million terrorists remain in Idlib with equal number of hostages-Voltaire, 12/24/19

“The Syrian Arab Republic launched the second stage of its offensive against the residual pocket of Al-Qaeda jihadists (now labeled the Levant Liberation Committee – Hayat Tahrir al-Cham) in Idlib Governorate.

At least 1.5 million jihadists and their families have amassed there, and hold hostage about an equal number of Syrians.

The Syrian Arab Army, covered by the Russian air force, liberated the city of Maarat al-Numan, thereby retaking the M5 motorway connecting Aleppo to Damascus.

In accordance with the agreements concluded in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana), the Turkish army did not intervene.

[BBC map shows Maarat al-Numan]

The German and French NGOs, which have been providing food to the Al-Qaeda jihadists and their families via Turkey, will have to stop doing so as from January 2020, now that Ankara – as per a UN resolution – is no longer under the obligation to allow the supplies for the jihadists to go through.”…

[Ed. note: Jihadists need not worry, US proudly gives 100% of its Syrian aid to jihadists and still has proxies on the ground: 2/9/2018, “[Former US Ambassador to Syria] “Ford also reported that the U.S. spent $7.7 billion in humanitarian aid efforts in Syria in those same four years [2014-2017]. This figure cannot be excluded from the overall cost of the U.S. regime change mission, however, because U.S. spending on humanitarian aid in Syria has often been explicitly politicized. The U.S. State Department, USAID, and other government agencies have refused to provide humanitarian aid to government-held areas in Syria and have instead expressly used the funding to bankroll the political, civil, and health infrastructure of [terrorist] rebel-held territory, including areas that are governed by Syria’s al-Qaeda affiliate, Jabhat al-NusraThe Guardian exposed how similar aid initiatives by the British government financed the activities of al-Nusra and other extremist Salafi-jihadist militias. [Former Ambassador] Ford acknowledged in his testimony that U.S. humanitarian aid to Syria was heavily politicized, explaining:

“The U.S. also has deployed [to terrorist “opposition-controlled areas” stated below] a small civilian team into Syria charged with initial reconstruction and building new local governance or improving on existing local governance. If it sounds like nation-building, it is but on a smaller scale. USAID and other civilian agencies have provided $875 million in non-lethal and stabilization aid to [terrorist] opposition-controlled areas in Syria since FY 2012. Last year [2017] alone the US provided about $200 million."

This politicized humanitarian funding has been part of a concerted effort to undermine the Syrian government’s control over Syrian territory by creating independent political administrations, civil society organizations, health institutions, and infrastructure that are outside of [Syrian government] its control, effectively establishing de facto autonomous governments that survive on U.S. [taxpayer] funding.

In fact, [former Ambassador] Ford went so far in the House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing as to condemn United Nations humanitarian aid programs, claiming they are “basically subsidizing Assad” by supporting civilians in government-held territory (which comprises the vast majority of the country).” 2/9/2018].

(continuing):
“On 20 December 2019, Germany, Belgium and Kuwait tried to get the Security Council to approve an extension of the cross-border privileges enjoyed by these NGOs [to help jihadists]. But China and Russia [thankfully] vetoed the motion.

About 400,000 people have fled the fighting. Al-Qaeda jihadists and their families retreated to the city of Idlib, while the Syrians have been accommodated in refugee camps.”
