Italy “hosts more than 30,000 [US] military and employees of the Pentagon in 5 large bases and in more than 50 secondary facilities.”...Number of armed US military stationed on dangerous 2000 mile US southern border: O….Does Italy know US is a massive state sponsor of Islamic terrorism including child beheaders, helped al-Qaeda conquer Idlib, and that US congress refuses to pass the Stop Arming Terrorists Act? For Italy’s own safety, it should immediately evict US personnel and close US bases. US brutally destroyed Syria for no reason and now threatens to punish anyone who tries to help rebuild Syria.

10/11/19, “The F-35s were on Pompeo’s secret agenda in Rome,” Manlio Dinucci, Voltaire

The sale of the F-35 warplanes was finally part of the agenda of the trip of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Italy, although the opposite was officially said. As for his visit to the Vatican, officially focused only on “theological issues,” he actually sought to mobilize the Holy See against China, Cuba, Iran and Syria.

The American F-35 stealth war plane, supposedly invisible to radars, is in any case invisible to politics. It does not appear in any of the official communiqués about the meetings that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held with the leaders of Italy during his stay in Rome.

However, Corriere della Sera reveals that Pompeo asked Italy to just complete the payment of the F-35 already acquired and to proceed with a new purchase and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte already guaranteed that "we will stay faithful to our covenants ».

Italy has so far bought 14 F-35 fighter jets from the American firm Lockheed Martin. Thirteen of these devices, already delivered, are "fully financed," a precision mentioned last June 3, before the Senate, by then Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta (of the 5 Star Movement), who also announced new purchases that they will raise to 28 the amount of those American planes that Italy must acquire by 2022. But Italy has committed to buy a total of 90 F-35 planes, which brings the estimated total of those purchases to 14 billion Euros.

To this expense must be added what will cost the constant updating of the computer programs that the F-35 needs to operate, programs whose exclusivity is in the hands of the American firm Lockheed Martin. Only for the 14 units already purchased, these updates already cost Italy 500 million euros. However, Italy is not only a buyer but also a manufacturer of the F-35, as a second level partner. The Italian firm Leonardo (formerly Finmeccanica), which is the largest Italian military industry – with the Ministry of Economy as the main shareholder (30% of the shares) – is in charge of the assembly and testing line of the F -35 in the installation of Faco di Cameri (Piemonte), where the devices for Italy and the Netherlands come from.

The Italian company Leonardo also manufactures the wings of the F-35 that are assembled in the United States and makes them with materials produced in the facilities of the Italian towns of Foggia, Nola and Venegono. The United States government selected the Cameri complex (also in Italy) as a regional center for the maintenance and updating of the fuselage in Europe.

A thousand people work in the Faco factory, many of them – a sixth of the total – with precarious jobs. The installation costs of that factory and the purchase of the F-35 are well above the amounts of the contracts stipulated by the Italian companies for the production of the F-35. And we must not forget that, while the profits go entirely to private companies, the expenses come out of the public funds, which further elevates the expenses of Italy in the military sector, which already reach 70 million euros day.

However, in his meetings with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed the need for Italy and other European countries “to increase their investments in the collective defense of NATO ." By the way, in the meetings held under the greatest discretion, Pompeo did not make that observation diplomatically but in a peremptory tone. That is, while the State Department praises Italy because “it hosts more than 30,000 military and employees of the Pentagon in 5 large bases and in more than 50 secondary facilities,” Mike Pompeo requested in the reserved meetings to install on Italian soil plus military bases, perhaps in exchange for some reduction of US taxes on Italian Parmesan cheese.

In addition, on the secret agenda of Pompeo was also the organization of the next arrival in Italy of the new US nuclear bombs B61-12, which will replace the current B-61.
.......
The new US nuclear bombs B61-12 are designed specifically for the F-35A warplanes and 6 of those planes, belonging to the Italian air force, already received in October the approval of NATO certifying that they are fully operational .

During his stay in Rome, Pompeo did not deal only with earthly issues, such as the F-35 war plane and Parmesan cheese. During a symposium held at the Vatican, Pompeo spoke about human dignity and faith in free societies [1].

Pompeo said at that symposium that “the United States arrived a little later than San Pedro, but has always protected religious freedom ” and, with it, "human dignity." He [Pompeo] then accused China, Cuba, Iran and Syria of repressing that freedom. That said, under a huge crucifix this holy man who, when he was nominated as director of the CIA, declared to the United States Congress his intention to study the return to waterboarding (a type of drowning drill) and other methods of ” Strong interrogation ,” an expression used to avoid saying the word torture.”
