Y'all are gonna have a long wait for Texas to turn blue if your only strategy is waiting for certain Texans to die. "If You're Gonna Play in Texas You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band"-Alabama

"If you’re gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band.

The Cruz campaign ad is a parody version that begins, “If you’re gonna run in Texas, you can’t be a liberal man.” It defines O’Rourke as a liberal who favors open borders and wants to take your guns. You can tell how effective the ad is, because liberals are already attacking it....The left might someday realize its dream of turning Texas blue. But that day, as someone once said, is not this day."

"White, non-college voters" aren't exactly a fringe group:

Comment: If you use only the popular vote, there's no point in ever having national elections again. Two metros will pick every president, the NY and LA metros.

Added: Deep problem for Blue: Between 2011-2017 a large Democrat Party exodus took place. You kicked the working class out of your party, their longtime home, made it clear you had no interest in them or their way of life, that the party was about modern things now, like forcing 5 year old little girls to look at penises of 60 year old men in unisex bathrooms.

6.7 to 9.2 million Obama voters became Trump voters in 2016, "far more than enough to provide Trump his electoral College victory." If you're interested: "The biggest common denominator among Obama-Trump voters is a view that the political system is corrupt and doesn’t work for people like them."...

*While most Obama to Trump voters once identified as Democrats, a majority now identify as Republicans. Since 2011, there has been a 28 percent decline in Democratic identification and a 43 percent increase in Republican identification among these voters....

Partisan affiliation is one of the most stable features of the modern American electorate. While individuals’ feelings toward politicians or their attitudes about policy can change quickly, partisanship is a deep-seated identity resistant to change."...

Added: Ohio in 2016 exemplifies the Blue problem: In Mahoning County, Ohio, 18 Democratic precinct captains crossed party lines to vote for Trump in the March 2016 primary:

4/5/2017, "Democrats are still ignoring the people who could have helped them defeat Trump, Ohio Party leaders say," Washington Post, William Wan

"Worst of all, they said, the party hadn't learned from what they saw as the biggest message from November's election: Democrats have fallen completely out of touch with America's blue-collar voters...."After everything that’s happened, if we as a party still aren’t speaking to them, then we are never getting them back.”"...During the 2016 primaries,
David Betras, Mahoning County Democrat Party Chair, "learned that 18 of his own Democratic precinct captains had crossed party lines to vote for Trump [in March 2016]. Some areas had to print extra Republican primary ballots just to keep up with the demand.

Mahoning Cty, Ohio
“That’s when I knew something was wrong,” he said.

He warned [Mrs.] Clinton that she had lost all credibility with working-class voters by waffling on trade and offering tepid solutions.
...That geographic disconnect has translated into policies that alienate the heartland, [Ohio Democrat Rep. Marcy] Kaptur said, overlooking, for example, the devastation of globalized free trade on places such as Ohio. “They paid lip service to it, but the underlying attitude was, ‘You’re not modern enough, not educated enough, not willing to adjust,’ Kaptur said....Trump not only flipped the state [of Ohio] but also won by the largest margin of any presidential candidate since 1988....

“It doesn’t matter how much we scream and holler about jobs and the economy at the local level. Our national leaders still don’t get it,” said David Betras, the county’s party chair. While Trump is talking about trade and jobs, they’re still obsessing about which bathrooms people should be allowed to go into.”"...

Comment: None of this is to say that the parasites who run the Republican Party care about working class voters or any voters at all. They don't let results of elections bother them too much either. No matter what happens, they still have jobs. What they care about is the $1 billion they rake in on the election process every four years for doing almost nothing. Many Americans choose not to be a member of either party but that freedom comes at a cost. I'm a registered Republican in New York State for one reason only: to be able to vote in Republican primaries. NY State also requires registration to have been in place for a certain number of months before the election. No such thing as "same day registration." Ivanka Trump wasn't able to vote for her father in the 2016 NY State Republican primary because she was a registered Independent and hadn't sought to change her registration status to Republican within the prescribed time. Trump still got 60% of the NY State GOP primary vote.
