PolitiFact Ohio staff biased 4 to 1, Democrats outnumber Republicans 4 to 1, Democrat Sherrod Brown uses PolitiFact Ohio to back up his views

"Newspaper reporters across Ohio have treated the work of PolitiFact Ohio as unbiased, propping up the publication’s claim to objectivity."

"Registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans on the staff of PolitiFact Ohio by a 4:1 ratio, a Media Trackers analysis of voter records reveals. Based on data from LexisNexis, twelve of the Cleveland Plain Dealer ”fact checking” outlet’s employees are Democrats and only three are Republicans.

This pronounced tilt in staffers’ political views explains why Tom Feran – who is not simply a Democrat but a far-left Progressive – is granted so much leeway on the pages of PolitiFact Ohio and the Plain Dealer.

Records indicate the following twelve Plain Dealer employees assigned to PolitiFact Ohio are registered Democrats:
  • Robert Higgs, PolitiFact Ohio editor
  • Jane (Murphy) Kahoun, Plain Dealer deputy metro editor
  • Tom Feran, Plain Dealer reporter
  • Henry J. Gomez, Plain Dealer reporter
  • Aaron Marshall, Plain Dealer statehouse reporter
  • Reginald Fields, Plain Dealer statehouse bureau chief
  • Jo Ellen Corrigan, Plain Dealer librarian
  • James Ewinger, Plain Dealer reporter
  • Laura Johnston, Plain Dealer reporter
  • Peter Krouse, Plain Dealer reporter
  • James McCarty, Plain Dealer reporter
  • Robert Schoenberger, Plain Dealer reporter
Records indicate the following three Plain Dealer employees assigned to PolitiFact Ohio are registered Republicans:
  • Rich Exner, Plain Dealer computer-assisted reporting editor
  • David Jardy, Plain Dealer news researcher
  • Mark Naymik, Plain Dealer reporter
Exner has been credited as a contributor on only five PolitiFact Ohio rulings. Jardy has been credited as a contributor on zero rulings. Naymik has not been credited on a PolitiFact Ohio ruling since August 5, 2011....

Statehouse reporter Joe Guillen and deputy metro editor Mark Vosburgh are both registered to vote with no party declared, based on person results in LexisNexis Risk Management Solutions. Newspaper reporters across Ohio have treated the work of PolitiFact Ohio as unbiased, propping up the publication’s claim to objectivity in the face of mounting counter-evidence. Even as U.S. Senate incumbent Sherrod Brown has made the liberal opinions of PolitiFact Ohio writers a cornerstone of his reelection campaign, the media continue failing to inform readers of the truth."
