6/15/11, "White House defends U.S. role in Libya after lawmakers sue," McClatchy, Thomma and Lightman
"The lawmakers who filed suit maintained that a president cannot "unilaterally go to war in Libya and other countries" without a formal declaration of war from Congress. Their suit also maintains that a president cannot commit this country to a war
- "under the authority of the United Nations without authorization from Congress."
In addition to Kucinich, House members filing the suit included Reps. Walter Jones, R-N.C., Howard Coble, R-N.C., John Duncan, R-Tenn., Roscoe Bartlett, R-Md., John Conyers, D-Mich., Ron Paul, R-Texas, Michael Capuano, D-Mass., Tim Johnson, R-Ill., and Dan Burton, R-Ind."...

from Weasel Zippers:
"Here's one of countless quotes from then Senator Barack Obama undermining the war effort in Iraq:
"When it comes to the war in Iraq, the time for promises and assurances, for waiting and patience is over. Too many lives have been lost and too many billions have been spent for us to trust the President on another tried-and-failed policy, opposed by generals and experts, opposed by Democrats and Republicans, opposed by Americans and even the Iraqis themselves. It is time to change our policy. It is time to give Iraqis their country back, and it is time to refocus America’s effort on the wider struggle against terror yet to be won."
- BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jan. 19, 2007"
It's clear that bombing people in the Middle East accomplishes nothing and punishes Americans. If it was no good in 2007, it's worse in 2011. He's had 2 and a half years to give the Iraqis back their country and he hasn't done it. ed.
