Obama says 'unpatriotic' to even talk about US economy. But Hillary Clinton is 'sick and tired' of people who say it's unpatriotic to disagree

9/7/12, "Ex-Newsweek's Fineman Sees Obama's Claim It is 'Unpatriotic' to Criticize Economy as 'Brilliant'," NewsBusters, Brad Wilmouth

"During the midnight hour of MSNBC's Thursday night Democratic National Convention coverage, MSNBC analyst Howard Fineman -- formerly of Newsweek -- declared that it was "brilliant" for President Obama to suggest that Republicans are being "unpatriotic" in trying to make an issue of the economy's poor performance during his time in office.

Shortly past midnight, Fineman asserted:

"And especially the Republican convention and campaign has only been about the existing economic condition, and the other brilliant thing he did tonight, the President, was to say that people who doubt the ability of the American people to come back, i.e. the Republicans, are unpatriotic. He tried to make it unpatriotic to even talk about economic conditions here.""

In 2003, Hillary Clinton said: "I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration."
