To end virus, ignore Trump/Birx state by state campaign. To naturally end virus, states must ‘speed the spread,’ not ‘slow the spread,’ have more ‘infections,’ and positive ‘cases’ in healthy populations as NYC metro has had with 2.8 million with antibodies

NY City metro is on its way to herd immunity: Over 2.8 million in NY City metro, 23% of population, have Covid antibodies as of May 6, 2020, per CDC tests, quadruple the number tests found five weeks earlier. CDC reports “are adjusted for false positive and false negative results.”

States need to “speed the virus” among healthy population, not slow it. As in NY City metro: more “cases,” more “positive tests,” and more “infections,” = 2.8 million with antibodies in NY City metro, 23% of population. The only guaranteed, naturally available way to end a virus is by enough of the healthy population acquiring antibodies which confer sufficient immunity that whole communities can go about their normal lives. This is often referred to as “herd immunity.” As it happens,  UK virus “expert,” Prof. Neil Ferguson, who strongly urged US lockdown, believes in and practices this naturally acquired or “herd immunity” in his personal life as reported on May 5 and 6, 2020:

BBC, 5/6/20: Ferguson explains why he allowed a friend to visit him during UK lockdown “while lecturing the public on the need for strict social distancing:” “I acted in the belief that I was immune having tested positive for coronavirus and completely isolated myself for almost two weeks after developing symptoms.”…BBC article acknowledges and comments on Prof. Ferguson’s stated belief that he was immune from catching Covid again: May 6, 2020, “Coronavirus: Prof Neil Ferguson [temporarily] quits government role after ‘undermining’ lockdown,” BBC: “Despite Prof. Ferguson’s comments [that he had acquired immunity to the virus], it is currently unclear whether people who have recovered from the virus will be immune or able to catch it again.”…Prof. Ferguson is director of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis, a group which “advises governments” and the WHO. 

Back to Trump, apparently it’s also implicit Trump policy that schools should remain closed indefinitely. From article below: “She [Dr. Birx] added young people who are asymptomatic are spreading the virus to their parents and grandparents.”… 

July 28, 2020, “Birx: TN should have statewide mask mandate and close bars to stop spread of COVID-19,” WBIR tv, Staff, Nashville, Tenn. 

“A member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force said…a statewide mask mandate would help curb the spread.... 

Birx met with Gov. Bill Lee on Monday morning and participated in a round table with community and state health officials. 

She advised that the spread has now reached more rural areas, and it was particularly important for people in those areas to wear masks and practice social distancing…. 

“Many Tennesseans suffer from issues that make the disease harder on them, like being overweight, heart and lung issues, diabetes,” Birx said. 

She said she hoped everyone heard President Trump’s message about the importance of wearing a mask…. 

She added young people who are asymptomatic are spreading the virus to their parents and grandparents.”…

Added: One doctor in Tennessee thinks masks are such a miracle cure that schools should remain closed long enough to allow the [mask] mandate to work:

Trump’s “slowing the spread” policy (along with masks) is aggressively being sold by Dr. Birx on a state by state basis involving public and private meetings with governors and and other officials, and press conferences. “Birx…has stopped by Tennessee after recently visiting Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky to meet with local leaders about COVID-19.” …It was never claimed that “slowing the spread” would “stop the spread” or “end the spread.” "Slowing the spread" was only said to be temporary policy to help hospitals.
