“It was the first time the [New York] state provided any information about [nursing] homes that, according to an Associated Press tally, account for nearly 40% of the nation’s 6,912 deaths in such facilities….

Stephen Hanse, president and CEO of the New York State Health Facilities Association and the New York State Center for Assisted Living, said the figures reflect the fact that those facilities [which are not hospitals and not staffed and equipped as such] are dealing with extremely vulnerable patients.

“Outbreaks are not the result of inattentiveness or a shortcoming in our facilities,” he wrote in a statement. The very nature of long-term care is a high touch environment where social distancing is not an option. Staff are helping residents with bathing, dressing, eating and other personal daily needs.”

He also blamed the [New York] state health department for worsening the situation by [forcing often virus-free nursing homes with dementia patients who are paying for  safe, long term care, not to be murdered by criminal governments] barring nursing homes from denying admission to patients with COVID-19 if they were medically stable.”…

On March 25,2020 [NY State Gov.] Cuomo mandated that nursing homes (which aren’t hospitals, aren’t staffed or equipped as such) admit active, contagious, virus patients. This effective murder guarantees that some frail but formerly virus free residents will become infected and die prematurely:No resident shall be denied readmission or admission to the [nursing home] solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.”

Even though Cuomo admits nursing homes are “ground zero” for the virus, he says: Nursing homes have “no right” to reject coronavirus patients.

4/23/20, NY Post…Per AP,  NY State is home to a third of the nation’s 10,217 virus-related deaths at nursing homes.

Unlike New York State, Florida isn’t keen on murdering its parents and grandparents who may have dementia and need to live in a safe environment: “No Sunshine State patient can be discharged from a hospital into a nursing home without a negative test result, even those who show no symptoms must be tested and confirmed negative.”

States that have taken better precautions have seen far fewer nursing-home deaths. With a nursing-home population of about 70 percent of New York’s, Florida has seen about 10 percent as many nursing-home deaths.” 5/5/20

As of May 10, 2020, Cuomo said he’s discontinuing his policy of forcing nursing homes to take active, contagious virus cases, ” NBC New York
