"All of us think they should have retribution"...
1/7/15, "GOP Tensions Escalate After Speaker Vote," National Journal, Daniel Newhauser
"Even if Boehner is keeping a cool head in public, it is clear that he and his allies are infuriated by Tuesday's public insurrection, and a
larger backlash could still be forthcoming against the 25 members who
voted against Boehner.
"I
think the majority of the conference would like to see…something done
with them, because they put the conservative agenda at stake with their
wanting to be on television," said Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin
Nunes, a close Boehner ally. "...They don't realize the speaker's not one of the guys who wants to do
it, but all of us think they should have retribution, and it tells me
how weak they are if they're getting up there whining about having
retribution against them."
And
Rep. Peter King said that if this had happened in New York state
politics, the consequences might have been more severe. "Guys take on a
speaker and lose, they're never heard from again," he said.
The
calculation now for leaders is how to retaliate against the members
without alienating more colleagues. The response could come in subtle
ways, such as denying members sponsorship of key bills or suppressing
their advancement on committees important to their district. The
National Republican Congressional Committee could withhold financial
support, jeopardizing their reelection. But any response will likely happen slowly and calculatedly so as not to create martyrs...
Still,
punishment enough is that members who voted against Boehner are
spending Wednesday in limbo, unsure whether they will be directly
retaliated against, and even more unsure of the subtle ways their vote
could come back to haunt them in the form of damaged relationships."...

1/7/15, "Mark Levin: Boehner is the biggest spending, biggest borrowing, most profligate Speaker in American history (TRT: 28)
LEVIN: The entire summer, while
he was leading these reelection efforts, so forth and so on, he was
working a backroom deal with Obama to pass to biggest spending bill in
American history, and to fund every penny of ObamaCare. Do you know
what the Boehner legacy is, Sean, in the last four years? He’s been the
biggest spending, biggest borrowing, most profligate Speaker in
American history and that includes Nancy Pelosi. ""

Comment: John Boehner has never allowed a standalone, up or down vote to defund (not repeal) ObamaCare to come to the floor in the 4 years he's been able to do so.
Politico says Boehner doesn't want to defund ObamaCare because he says it's “the law of the land.”"...
Jan-Feb. 2015, "The Prisoner of Capitol Hill," Politico, Glenn Thrush, "Can John Boehner save House Republicans from themselves?"
Page 5, paragraph 1:
"Earlier that year (2013), Boehner, this time united with Cantor, had counseled
his conference to negotiate a quick deal out of the budget impasse
before the government was set to run out of funding October 1. But then
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, the Tea Party darling, crossed the Capitol
Rotunda to whip up the right wing of Boehner’s conference, demanding
that any deal include a quixotic plan to defund Obamacare
completely—another rebuff of Boehner, who had said that the health care
act, while infuriating to them, should now be considered “the law of the land.”"...

Comment: Devin Nunes is either mentally incompetent or dishonest and he desperately wishes we would shut up.

Lord of the Flies Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Ca. insists those who didn't vote for Boehner must be punished. Mr. Nunes: Elected representatives of the people don't belong to you or the Speaker. They travel to the Beltway so the people will have at least some voice against massive, coercive government force you obviously favor. You should resign or seek counseling
