US political class "glibly dismisses imminent crimes against humanity" by ISIS against Syrian Kurds. Sec. of St. Kerry says Kurds "not relevant." Obama sending low flying US helicopters to get shot down by well armed jihadists so we'll soon have dead Americans to claim-NY Daily News Editorial, 10/9/14

"Said Secretary of State Kerry, “as horrific as it is to watch in real time what is happening in Kobani,” the people there weren’t relevant to our “strategic objective.”"

10/9/14, "Obama bombs in Syria," NY Daily News Editorial. "His not-quite-war is falling short"

"Despite President Obama’s don’t-call-it-a-war air campaign in Syria and Iraq, the ISIS head choppers are poised to seize the Syrian town of Kobani and begin an ungodly massacre.

Truly, the barbarians are at the gates while the weakness, if not futility, of Obama’s hastily developed strategy to degrade and destroy ISIS is becoming screamingly apparent.

The killers are advancing into combat in a population center, where missiles and bombs will be next to useless. Even American military leaders say an air campaign will be insufficient to drive back the killers there or in other cities they hold.

But Obama has yet to build the international coalition or Iraqi forces that he hopes will put troops on the ground to support our air efforts. Turkey, whose border is within spitting distance of Kobani, is offering not a single pair of armed boots, even as it is swamped by Kurdish refugees, even as NATO would rise to Turkey’s defense were ISIS to come across its border.

Did we mention that Vice President Biden just managed to insult Turkish President Recep Erdogan by blabbing supposedly confidential communications?

To be sure, any military campaign will have setbacks. The issues here are that we will not admit that we are conducting one — and are conducting it poorly as such — and that we are glibly dismissing imminent crimes against humanity in Kobani as a matter of no strategic import.

Meanwhile, Obama’s nonwar has gone beyond firing Tomahawks from a distance to having American helicopter gunships fly attack missions — which is as close to a ground war as you can get and risks a shoot-down by well-armed jihadis.

Question: Are forces at the ready to put U.S. boots on the ground in a rescue mission to recover our own?

When he finally muscled up against ISIS after wandering indecisively, even admitting that he had no strategy for military action in Syria, Obama said of America,

That’s how we roll.”

On Wednesday, on the verge of a new epidemic of beheadings, the administration all but accepted the unfolding horror.

Said Secretary of State Kerry, “as horrific as it is to watch in real time what is happening in Kobani,” the people there weren’t relevant to our “strategic objective.

That’s a hell of a way to roll."

Comment: If the Kurds spoke Spanish, Boehner and Obama would've rescued them and brought them to the US.
