Robert Costa twitter via Mark Levin twitter. I'm not sure why Mr. Levin says this is "good news" for McDaniel. Stuart P.
Stevens was Haley Barbour's ad director in Barbour's 1982 campaign for US Senate against Democrat John Stennis. (parag. 16) Barbour lost 64-36%.
Multiple Barbour family members are heavily involved in the campaign of McDaniel's opponent, Thad Cochran.

"Mississippi Republican consultant Austin Barbour will join Mitt
Romney's campaign in Boston and will serve as deputy to top Romney
adviser Stuart Stevens, The Huffington Post has learned from sources
with knowledge of the move.
Barbour has been a national finance chairman for Romney, and helped
staff get out the vote efforts in numerous primary states. He also
headed up the ground game for Romney in Mississippi, where the former
Massachusetts governor came closest to winning a state in the deep
South.
Barbour, 36, is a nephew to former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour
(R), who himself explored a run for president before deciding against it
last year. Stevens, who is a native of Mississippi, has a longstanding
relationship with the Barbour family."...

"In a story headlined “The Barbour Gang Rides to Thad Cochran’s Rescue,” Politico’s Alex Burns reported Wednesday
how the Barbour family—a political platoon in and of itself armed with
money, connections and experience—is working overtime to save Cochran’s
seat in the U.S. Senate from the Tea Party movement backed McDaniel.
Barbour’s nephews, Henry and Austin Barbour, and Barbour himself,
Burns wrote, are all an “integral part of the sophisticated political
operation seeking to quash Cochran’s primary opponent from the GOP’s
right flank.” Henry and Austin Barbour both serve in key roles for the
Cochran re-election effort; Henry is the head of the pro-Cochran Super
PAC Mississippi Conservatives PAC while Austin is a senior Cochran
campaign strategist."...

Comment: This Mississippi race isn't about much except the future of the free world, ie, Wall St. vs the
people. It's exactly the place a "sophisticated political operation"
(Barbour's) would be found doing Wall St.'s bidding. Personally, I
wouldn't let any member of the Romney campaign on my property, much less
a longtime friend of the Barbours.
