Dryer says GOP establishment did an "excellent job in
killing [the Tea Party] movement" after 2010."..
1/12/14, "Ex-NFL Great Dryer: GOP Establishment Afraid MSM Will Call Them Bigots," Breitbart News, Tony Lee
"Fred Dryer, the former All-Pro NFL defensive end and Hollywood actor of shows like Hunter and Cheers, is furious at the Republican establishment for waging war against the Tea Party.
He sees the establishment as surrendering to the mainstream media and accepting its stereotypes about conservatives.
Appearing on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot
channel 125 with Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K.
Bannon, Dryer said it was the "dumbest thing" for the GOP establishment
to abandon constitutional principles when the country – and the
constitution – is center right.
He blasted GOP establishment honchos like Ed Gillespie for doing nothing but watering down conservative candidates.
"They put them through a series of washings to get all that
independent thinking out of there," Dryer said before emphasizing that
the "cowardice that is in the Republican Party today is only matched by
their myopic opinions of themselves."
Dryer said the Republican Party bosses want to be liked by The New York Times and have bought into and been "intimidated into believing" the notion
that, if they oppose liberal policies, they are "racist, sexist,
homophobe, those types of things." He said the establishment Republicans
have done an excellent job of institutionalizing "complete stupidity"
by adopting and abiding by various rules that "only weaken them" in
national elections.
To Dryer, this has been going on since President Ronald Reagan left
office. Dryer blasted the "neocons" aligned with President George H.W.
Bush, whom he accused of undermining everything Reagan was trying to
accomplish. Dryer even slammed Bush's "1000 points of light" speech as a
slam on Reagan's "shining city on a hill" rhetoric.* Dryer said that
since George H.W. Bush got elected president, Republicans have
progressively moved to the left because of "his people."
Dryer then lamented that America's youth are not taught civics
anymore, and he said that the only reason someone like President Barack
Obama can get elected twice is that people do not know anything about
the Constitution and "what kind of government they have."...
Dryer, who played college football at San Diego State during the
1960s, said he saw liberalism come up from the ground when it was a
nascent movement. He said it has turned into a "hideous beast" in the
last 50 years. He said the Tea Party in 2010 tapped into the desire of
Americans to restore the country to its founding principles and move it
away from that "hideous beast," and the movement's success shocked the
Republican establishment more than it did liberals.
Dryer said leaders on both sides, though, couldn't care less about
constitutionalism and Americanism, and want people like him to just die
and go away so there wouldn't be people who can impart institutional
knowledge to today's young people about what it means to be an American
and why the nation – and the Constitution – is exceptional.
He was particularly disappointed by the Republican establishment's
leaders, though. Dryer blamed them for doing an "excellent job in
killing [the Tea Party] movement" after 2010, and he said he wants to
see more people "step forward and articulate" a "strong constitutional
narrative."
Dryer, echoing Reagan, said freedom can be lost in a generation and
that Americans who do not understand the country's fundamental
principles are losing the country. He was upset that the Republican
establishment is doing nothing about it.
He said the establishment GOP is not setting the narrative and not
fighting for conservative values or even educating young people about
what it means to be an American or "what is happening to their country."" image, afp via breitbart. via Mark Levin show

*Bush #1's "kinder, gentler" rap was also a slam on Reagan suggested Mark Levin as he spoke with Dryer on his show Fri. night Feb. 28, 2014. Such slogans talk down, ie sabotage, the Republican Party, implying it's been mean and nasty all this time. Priceless since Bush turned around and put America in a Mideast war.

"The U.S. economy grew at a 2.4 percent annualized rate in the fourth quarter, the Commerce Department said Friday, revising down its initial estimate of a 3.2 percent increase in the nation's economic performance.
The drop in fourth-quarter gross domestic product growth was largely
due to a smaller-than-expected boost from Americans buying bit-ticket
items such as autos.
Consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the U.S. economy, slowed to a 2.6 percent rise from 3.3 percent in the third quarter. Export, inventory accumulation and government spending also contributed to the downward revision in GDP.
Capital Economics' Paul Ashworth now expects the first-quarter 2014 GDP growth to be close to 2.0 percent. "Once the weather effects begin to unwind in the second quarter, however, we would anticipate a pick-up in GDP growth to nearer 3 percent over the remaining three quarters of this year," Ashworth said in a note.
The U.S. Federal Reserve, which has been trimming the amount of money it is injecting into the economy through monthly bond purchases, views the recent soft patch as a cold weather-related temporary phase. Fed Chair Janet Yellen told lawmakers Thursday that it will take a "significant" change in the outlook for the economy to prompt the central bank to consider pausing or changing the pace of tapering." via Free Rep.

Blundering CPAC's "Uninvited" make more news than the event itself-Pamela Geller

2/26/14, "Didn’t get a CPAC invite this year? You’re not alone." Washington Post, Jaime Fuller
CPAC 2014 is March 6-8 at National Harbor, Md. Chris Christie has been invited to speak but Pamela Geller hasn't. Pamela hits #6 on WaPo's list of CPAC "uninviteds." It's great that Pamela won't be wasting her time at CPAC this year:
"6. Pamela Geller
In 2013, Pamela Geller, a conservative activist perhaps most famous for her opposition to the "Ground Zero Mosque," was not invited to speak at CPAC, where she had often served on a panel. Her response?

In 2013 Pamela Geller spoke at "Uninvited" panel at CPAC to a standing room only crowd:
3/16/13, "Enemedia in an uproar over Pamela Geller's statement on Suhail Khan's stealth jihad," Pamela Geller, Atlas Shrugs
"Breitbart's "Uninvited" event was standing room only. And I was overwhelmed by the rush of applause and folks who stood up when I walked into the room for the event. It was mindblowing. Pamela Hall was there so we should have video later.
I knew when I said that Suhail Khan was worse than Anwar Awlaki that the enemedia would jump all over it as a "gotcha" quote, and Salon (the hopeless Alex Seitz-Wald again) and BuzzFeed jumped right on it. Of course Khan's stealth jihad is more dangerous. Awlaki is dead. Suhail is working his treachery every day, under the guise of a "conservative" mask. Anwar al-Awlaki was a moderate Muslim before he wasn't. He was praised in the New York Times. Abdurrahman Alamoudi, a friend of Norquist and Khan, was also a moderate before he wasn't. Alamoudi was Suhail's mentor before he went to prison for terror-related crimes. Alamoudi was al-Qaeda's largest secret financial courier.
Suhail Khan is tightly linked to jihadists who want to take down this country.
Here is the background: Suhail Khan Exposed
The damage that covert jihadists do is incalculable. They have enabled Muslim Brotherhood access to the highest levels of government. They have deeply compromised our resistance to jihad. And they lull people into complacency about the jihad threat.
Alex Seitz-Wald continues to pursue his obsession with demonizing our work:
Pam Geller: CPAC board member is “worse” than Anwar al-Awlaki by Alex Seitz-Wald, Salon, March 16, 2013
"Anti-Muslim activist and blogger Pam Geller said Saturday at a CPAC panel of rouge conservative activists that a board member of the group that puts on the annual conservative conference is worse than a terrorist killed by an American drone strike in Yemen.
Geller said the reason she and the other panelists — including fellow anti-Muslim activists Frank Gaffney and Robert Spencer — were barred from CPAC because of the nefarious influence of board members Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan."
"The three anti-Muslim activists have for years accused Norquist and Khan of being members of the Muslim Brotherhood and secret Islamist agents, but Geller took her rhetoric against Khan, a Republican consultant and former Bush White House official, to new heights today.
“Am I saying that Suhail Khan is as bad as Awlaki? He’s worse!” she said, referring to Anwar al-Awlaki, the American citizen jihadi who was killed by a U.S. drone strike in 2011.
She added that it was a “crime” that she and the others panelists were not invited to CPAC, warning that the snub is a threat to the freedom of speech. “Free men will have to resort to violence in the absence of the freedom of speech,” she added darkly.
Spencer had his own anti-Khan tirade, encouraging activist in the room to “go find him and take your picture with him.”
Gaffney called Khan a “prince of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Gaffney was disinvited from CPAC several years ago and the entire board of the American Conservative Union, which organizes CPAC, passed a unanimous resolution condemning Gaffney’s baseless attacks on Khan and Norquist. Geller said she was disinvited this year."
And get this from Grover Norquist at the end of this BuzzFeed story about my being banned from CPAC:
Pamela Gellar [sic]: CPAC's Muslim Board Member Is 'Worse Than Al-Awlaki' by Evan McMorris-Santoro, BuzzFeed, March 16, 2013
"NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — A prominent conservative activist Saturday accused of Muslim conservative of waging a "stealth Jihad" against the movement, warning his position as a board member of the influential American Conservative Union is more dangerous than the American-born al Qaeda leader killed in a US drone strike.
"Am I saying that Suhail Kahn is as bad as [Anwar] Al-Alwaki? He's worse," conservative blogger Pam Geller said at a CPAC panel. ACU puts on the annual gathering of conservatives.
"Listen to me. He's worse because look what he's done to this conference. Look at the influence that they have had on this conference...It's Stealth Jihad."
The panel, sponsored by Breitbart.com, was called "The Uninvited" because Geller and other speakers who warned against Kahn were not invited to speak at official CPAC events. At previous CPACs, Gellar [sic] and others have offered similar attacks on Khan, warning that he and fellow ACU board member Grover Norquist are aiding the Muslim Brotherhood.
Norquist brushed aside those attacks Saturday.
"You can't get worked up about it, because they're not important enough to dislike," Norquist said. "But it's sad ... none of those people are part of the modern conservative movement. They never have been."
Norquist declined to refer to Geller by name.
"There are always people who try and poach on CPAC and I guess the woman from New York has several times that she was being banned or something," he said. "And everyone's going, 'what? we don't know who she is. We didn't know that she's banned.'"
Norquist's statement "we didn't know that she's banned" is a bold-faced
lie. Not only is Grover lying, but proof is that Al Cardenas was so
concerned about the consequences of banning me that he asked me for a
meeting. And we met earlier today.

More on Grover Norquist:
And when other Norquist lobbying clients (and donors to Norquist’s organizations) were raided by the US Customs Service in the Operation Greenquest terror finance investigation, Norquist immediately sprung into action, arranging a meeting for his clients with then-Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill. With considerable money being directed to a number of GOP candidates,
the investigation was quietly shut down by the Bush administration over
the strong objections of the federal investigators on the case….
Norquist’s record is that he will cheer unfunded government spending increases when it suits his own interests, and will shift his interpretation of the ATR no-tax pledge depending on who is lobbying clients are or what special interests he is protecting.”…

Let’s also not forget Norquist’s lobbying on behalf of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to continue the homeownership tax credit, which as Erick Erickson noted directly contributed to the housing bubble and collapse at the expense of billions to the American taxpayers….

2/27/14, "Weekly Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Rise to 348K," Reuters via Fox News
"The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week, but the underlying trend suggested no shift in labor market conditions.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 14,000 to a
seasonally adjusted 348,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
Claims for the prior week were revised to show 2,000 fewer applications
received than previously reported.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast first-time applications for jobless benefits slipping to 335,000 in the week ended February 22, which included the Presidents Day holiday.
While last week's increase pushed them to the upper end of their range so far this year, it probably does not signal labor market weakness as claims tend to be volatile around federal holidays. The four-week moving average for new claims, considered a better measure of underlying labor market conditions as it irons out week-to-week volatility, was unchanged at 338,250.
A Labor Department analyst said no states were estimated and there were no special factors affecting the state level data.
An unusually cold winter has clouded the labor market picture, with job growth braking sharply in December and recovering only marginally in January.
A third month of weak hiring is expected after snowstorms slammed the densely populated regions of the country during the survey week for February nonfarm payrolls.
The claims report showed the number of people still receiving benefits after an initial week of aid rose 8,000 to 2.96 million in the week ended February 15.
The so-called continuing claims have been elevated in recent weeks and some economists say the cold weather could be preventing many recipients from going out to search for work and companies to delay hiring."

Christians in Sharia controlled Syrian city must pay a tax in pure gold or face death, 20 Christian leaders have accepted Islamist Sharia demands-BBC
.
2/27/14, "Syria crisis: ISIS imposes rules on Christians in Raqqa," BBC
Correspondents say ISIS is trying to implement an extreme interpretation of Islamic law in areas it controls. Raqqa, seized by ISIS last year, was the first provincial capital to be completely in the hands of rebels.
The directive from ISIS, citing the Islamic concept of "dhimma", requires Christians in the city to pay tax of around half an ounce (14g) of pure gold in exchange for their safety.
It says Christians must not make renovations to churches, display crosses or other religious symbols outside churches, ring church bells or pray in public.
Christians must not carry arms, and must follow other rules imposed by ISIS (also known as ISIL) on their daily lives.
The statement said the group had met Christian representatives and offered them three choices - they could convert to Islam, accept ISIS' conditions, or reject their control and risk being killed.
"If they reject, they are subject to being legitimate targets, and nothing will remain between them and ISIS other than the sword," the statement said.
A group of 20 Christian leaders chose to accept the new set of rules, ISIS said.

has demanded that Christians in the northern city of Raqqa pay a levy
in gold and accept curbs on their faith, or face death.
The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) said it would
give Christian residents "protection" if they agreed to the list of
conditions. The announcement came in a statement posted online.

Symbol of Allah has been scrubbed from Katy Perry You Tube video after Perry was accused of blasphemy-BBC
.
"It is unclear whether YouTube made the change or if it was instructed to by Perry's record company. The parties have yet to respond to BBC requests for a comment on the move."
2/27/14, "Katy Perry Dark Horse video edited," BBC
More than 65,000 people signed a petition which stated the clip - featuring a pendant with the Arabic word for God on it being reduced to sand - was offensive.
The music video has not been cut, but the pendant has now been digitally "scrubbed" out of the scene. Petition instigator Shazad Iqbal, said he was "thrilled" with the outcome.
"The name of Allah has been removed from the Dark Horse video - we couldn't have done it without everyone's support so I thank each and every one of you deeply, our voices have been heard," he wrote on Change.org.
"I feel that the impact we have made and the total number of signatures obtained does convey just how worthy a cause this is, it is a significant step towards the right direction."
It is unclear whether YouTube made the change or if it was instructed to by Perry's record company. The parties have yet to respond to BBC requests for a comment on the move.
Perry's video features the pop star as an Egyptian queen who transforms suitors into sand by disintegrating them. Mr Iqbal, from Bradford, began the petition after he spotted one of the suitors wearing the pendant.
Explaining his reasons for starting the petition, Mr Iqbal wrote: "Blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video, since Katy Perry - who appears to be representing an opposition of God - engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.
"Using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion," he added.
The Dark Horse video has attracted more than 37 million views since it premiered on YouTube on 20 February."

Heavy, soaking rain douses Santa Cruz County with more on the way-Santa Cruz Sentinel
.
2/26/14, "Rain douses Santa Cruz County with more on way," Santa Cruz Sentinel, staff
The
high pressure ridge that has been parked over the Pacific Ocean,
blocking stormy weather from hitting the West Coast has retreated a bit.
More wet weather is expected through the weekend with up to 4 inches
falling by Sunday, according to National Weather Service meteorologist
Diana Henderson. Conditions should be dry again on Monday, Henderson said.
.
Santa Cruz got soaked with .71 inches on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. The most rain in the county was seen in Ben Lomond with 1.17 inches, and in Scotts Valley with 1.10 inches, according to Sentinel weather reporters. Watsonville received .53 inches and Soquel .80 inches.
More than an inch of rain fell Thursday in some areas of the region, creating slippery roads and prompting a warning from the California Highway Patrol urging motorists to slow down and use caution.
Friday's storm off the California coast could bring several more inches of rain to the region, according to the weather service. The two storms are expected to double the amount of rainfall that the region has seen all season.
Forecasters say Friday's system could dump as much as 6 inches of rain on Bay Area mountains and up to 2 feet of snow in the Sierra over the weekend.
According to the weather service, Santa Rosa saw a total rainfall Thursday of .84 inches, the highest of any other Bay Area city by 4 p.m. when the service totals its rainfall for the day.
In Contra Costa County, .70 inches fell in Concord. San Jose and Oakland were both soaked with .62 inches. San Francisco received .74 inches, while Moffett Field received .54 inches.
While the overdue wet weather is welcome, forecasters say California needs much more rain and snow to make up for one of the driest rainy seasons.
"I won't say the storm door is open, but maybe we'll get into more of a routine storm pattern now," National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin said....
Air travel was also affected. San Francisco Internationl Airport spokesman Doug Yakel said 47 arriving and department flights had to be canceled by 1 p.m., most of them flights up and down the West Coast. Other flights were leaving an average of 60 minutes late.
"The storm isn't that bad, but it's creating those visibility issues we sometimes have when we get these conditions out there," Yakel said.
Benjamin said the steady pace of the showers, coming on fairly dry land, will allow vegetation to absorb the rain without concerns of landslides or flash flooding."...

Supposedly non-existent US 'climate action' began in early 1980's before UN IPCC even existed. U.S. gov. policies diverted taxpayer cash to 'possible climate change linked to greenhouse gas emissions.' By 1990 US 'climate action' was mandated with more mandates added in following years further entwining fed. agencies, state and local govs., businesses and other entities.'

Comment: Why don't US politicians thank us every day for the money we've given them for "climate action?" There's no way to know the total amount of taxpayer cash that's been funneled to "climate action" since the early 1980's. Just from the above it's clear the web goes everywhere. Cash can be categorized as "science and technology," "research and development," "climate services," or in countless other ways via countless agencies and departments, "directly or indirectly." No politician has tried to stop this. All for something that that was at best "possible," and as a bonus is falsely used to gin up hatred against Americans. This fraud against the US taxpayer began with US politicians and continues today because of US politicians. In 2012 alone $1 billion a day was "invested" in the notion of "global warming."

China's huge fuel conversion plants in remote areas have carbon footprint double conventional coal and oil, one plant larger than st. of Connecticut, US media silent -Inside Climate News

"China is erecting huge industrial complexes in remote areas to convert
coal to synthetic fuel that could make the air in its megacities
cleaner. But the complexes use so much energy that the carbon footprint
of the fuel is almost double that of conventional coal and oil, spelling
disaster for earth's climate, a growing chorus of scientists is
warning.
Efforts by China to develop so-called "coal bases" in its far-flung regions have received scant attention beyond the trade press, but scientists watching the effort say it could cause climate damage that eclipses worldwide climate protection efforts.
The facilities, which resemble oil refineries, use coal to make liquid fuels, chemicals, power and "syngas," which is like natural gas but extracted from coal. The fuels and electricity are then transported to China's big cities to be burned in power plants, factories and cars.
Currently 16 coal base sites are being built and many are operational. One being constructed in Inner Mongolia will eventually occupy nearly 400 square miles—almost the size of the sprawling city of Los Angeles."...

Longtime GOP Sen. McConnell backslaps his Beltway pal the radical left Pres. |
Like many conservatives, Milton Wolf is displeased with the life long creatures of D.C. who tag an (R) behind their name then vote in unprincipled manners. Wolf did something about his displeasure, he dared to challenge a 17 year incumbent and 46 year veteran of D.C. politics in a GOP primary.
Beginning early Sunday morning and continuing through last night, Brad Dayspring, who works at the NRSC as, I kid you not, a strategist, has mentioned Milton Wolf’s name in association with the two hit pieces written about him 32 times. In that same time period Dayspring, again this guy is a strategist, directly mentioned Democrat Senators by name 16 times. That’s 2-1 ratio of attacks on a Republican Senate candidate versus attacks on any Democrat Senator or Senate candidate up for election this cycle. When you add in all the tweets where Dayspring didn’t include Wolf’s name, the ratio is absolutely embarrassing coming from someone who works for the NRSC and is paid with donor money.
From my perspective, this behavior from someone who represents an official GOP organization is far more shocking and perverse than a Doctor engaging in gallows humor. Additionally, he is quite possibly setting the stage to make his job much more difficult the closer we get to November.
From Dayspring’s perspective, he is just doing his job. When our own Dan McLaughlin noted on twitter that Dayspring’s tweets removed any doubt about the NRSC taking sides in primaries, Dayspring succinctly replied, “We defend incumbent Republican Senators, it’s our job. There was never a question.”
Later, after many on twitter pressed him on the NRSC taking sides in primaries, Dayspring attempts to deflect by arguing that RedState advocates in the primaries and that it is hypocritical of RedState in general, and me in particular, to argue against the NRSC doing the same.
Of course, to anyone with even the smallest amount of knowledge, or even just the ability to comprehend the stark differences between the NRSC and RedState, this is an absolutely ridiculous argument to make. RedState exists to elect conservatives in primaries and support Republicans in general elections. The NRSC exists to help Republicans, regardless of their ideology, get elected to the Senate. Dayspring knows the comparison is ridiculous, but at this point he has an audience and can’t put the shovel down.
Instead of admitting the difference, and why his charge of hypocrisy holds no water, Dayspring instead engages in some quick political spin and declares that the NRSC is not a national committee.
According to the FEC fillings for the NRSC, they are a national committee for the Republican party. In a brief filed with the Supreme Court the NRSC stated it “is the principal national political party committee focused on electing Republican candidates to the United States Senate.” This is an indisputable fact. Well, unless you are Brad Dayspring.
In a post at Breitbart, Milton Wolf laid out his case against the Senior Senator from Kansas, Pat Roberts. In it Wolf says of Roberts, “He calls himself a conservative but has voted for tax hikes, earmark spending, debt ceiling increases—eleven times!—and even voted to put Kathleen Sebelius in charge of ObamaCare.”
All of this is true.
After years of work in D.C. that began in his early 30′s, Pat Roberts went back to D.C. in 1981 as a Congressman for Kansas. In 1996 he was elected to the Senate. Most recently Senator Roberts made news due to the fact that he doesn’t actually reside in Kansas. Roberts has also shown a pattern of voting conservatively when he nears his election cycle, but not so much in the out years.
If you look at the Heritage Action Scorecard for Roberts in the current Congress he has a 90%. Unfortunately, in the 112th Congress Roberts scored a dismal 65%. A 25% drop in conservative votes in the non-election years is a very disturbing trend among those who have been in D.C. as long as Roberts has.
Kansas is a red state. The partisan voting index for the four districts that make up Kansas are R+23, R+8, R+6, and R+14 respectively. With numbers like that we shouldn’t have to settle for someone who only votes conservative, and only comes to town, when he has an election to win.
Again, this is why Milton Wolf is running to replace Pat Roberts, who, at 77 years of age, has spent more than half his life in D.C. This is also why the staff at the NRSC gleefully began to push what clearly looks to be opposition research hits on Wolf.
While the headlines of these articles certainly follow the pattern of a good opposition research post, the facts, or lack thereof, in both show them to be desperate attempts to take down a conservative candidate. In lieu of facts are tenuous insinuations of criminality and an almost laughably naive shock that gallows humor exists in a profession that typically carries an emotional burden far beyond what the average person ever dares contemplate.
The NRSC has been an incumbent protection racket for a long time now. Dayspring is just the latest face. This is what conservatives, Heritage Action, Senate Conservatives Fund, Senators Cruz and Lee, RedState, and fresh challengers like Milton Wolf, are fighting against.
If the priority of the NRSC were truly a Republican majority in the Senate rather than to serve as a praetorian guard for entrenched incumbents, it would embrace the opportunity to replace a 77 year old incumbent whose voting record no longer reflects the partisan make up of the state.
Unfortunately the NRSC will continue its protection racket for incumbents, the status quo in the Senate will lead to further losses as more and more Republicans abandon the unfulfilling quest of a majority that lacks the principles to actually limit government.
Republican donors who give to the NRSC expecting them to use their resources attacking Democrats in order to assist Republicans should be permanently disabused of that expectation. The NRSC plays favorites in primaries, not just by propping up their chosen candidates and incumbent bosses, but by expending resources to help destroy any upstart conservative who may threaten to upend the power and influence they wield with unsuspecting donor dollars.
As long as the NRSC continues to engage in the primary process in destructive ways and ignore the expectations of the grassroots conservatives in states like Kansas, the divisions between the establishment and the Tea Party will increase and nothing will change for the GOP in the Senate.
But Brad Dayspring will still have a job protecting incumbents as a strategist until the last tired worn out incumbent creature of D.C. finally falls silent. Then, I assume he’ll change sides." image above of McConnell backslapping his pal the radical left president Obama from Sen. Conserv. Fund, Senate Update.

S&P being sued for $5 billion by Obama admin., S&P says retaliation for its downgrading Obama economy. Geithner made threatening phone call to S&P boss, alluded to consequences-Wall St. Journal
.
2/25/14, "What Did Obama Tell Geithner about S&P?" Wall St. Journal, James Freeman
"The former Treasury secretary's famous call came five minutes after a meeting in the Oval Office."
"Last month we wrote about the threatening phone call from then-Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner to the head of the parent company of Standard & Poor's after S&P downgraded the U.S. credit rating in 2011. Now we learn that Mr. Geithner placed the call to McGraw Hill Chairman and CEO Harold McGraw III just five minutes after leaving an Oval Office meeting with President Barack Obama.
This detail, drawing on information contained in Mr. Geithner's public schedule, was included late yesterday in a filing by S&P in federal court in the Central District of California. The Department of Justice is suing S&P for $5 billion for alleged fraud in S&P's ratings on mortgage-backed securities during the housing boom. But DOJ is not suing the other credit rating agencies that issued similarly awful ratings. Since only Standard & Poor's downgraded the U.S., S&P says it is suffering from retaliation.
Yesterday's filing came in response to government efforts to avoid turning over documents related to the Geithner communication to S&P. According to a sworn affidavit from Mr. McGraw filed with the court last month, Mr. Geithner "said that 'you have done an enormous disservice to yourselves and to your country', that the U.S. economy was bad and that the downgrade had done real damage. S&P's conduct would be 'looked at very carefully' he said. Such behavior could not occur, he said, without a response from the government."
Along with stonewalling S&P's request for staff documents surrounding this event, the feds are also refusing to turn over material related to the giant banks that the government has cast as victims for the purposes of winning this case against S&P. The ratings firm wants to know if these firms really believed they had been defrauded by S&P, but not by competitors Moody's and Fitch.
Since the government is the one suing for billions, we don't understand how it can continue to prevent the defendant from gaining material relevant to its defense." via Free Rep.

The Great Establishment GOP Deception on Winning Back the Senate-Daniel Horowitz, RedState
.
2/25/14, "The Great Establishment Deception on Winning Back Senate," Daniel Horowitz, RedState
"The unambiguous strategy of the GOP establishment this year has been to avoid any and all confrontation in the hopes of gliding into a Senate majority in 2015. To that end, they have capitulated on all of the major leverage points, passed a number of Democrat spending bills, and are in the process of pushing “small-ball” legislation in the House so as not to rock the boat before November.
This pusillanimous strategy is predicated on the false hope that a bare-minimum Senate majority – comprised of the same Republicans who support these Democrat priorities – will somehow alter the landscape in Washington. They are misleading conservative and GOP activists into thinking that as long as the GOP can hold tight on the status quo until 2015 we will enjoy robust power to push for conservative priorities thereafter.
The reality is that nothing will change in 2015. Irrespective of the outcome in November,
Republicans will control the House and have the ability to block bad legislation. On the other hand, President Obama will still be in the White House for another two years. Consequently, the addition of six more Senate seats with the current incumbent leaders and rank-and-file members will not change the legislative dynamic.
Republicans who lack the will or principles to fight on major issues will still use Obama’s obstructionism as the baseline for excuses not to advocate bold initiatives. Whether it’s a debt ceiling or a budget bill, they will fear brinkmanship with Obama as much as they do now.
What about blocking bad bills? Certainly Republicans will have the power to do so if they win back the Senate, won’t they?
Well, they already have the power to stop bad bills with control of the House, yet, time and again, we have seen a de facto Democrat super-majority in the Senate pass harmful legislation only to be rubber-stamped by the House – or at least open for consideration.
Unless we elect the right candidates for Senate, a weak GOP majority would still net enough votes to pass amnesty, an internet sales tax, omnibus bills, highway bills, or the anti-liberty “ENDA” bill.
Moreover, in some respects, these same Republicans will be even more frightened to fight for a bold conservative agenda in 2015. As much as they would have us believe that a GOP Senate-majority is the road to the Promised Land, it will be overshadowed by the presidential election the minute they take office.
If Republicans are recalcitrant to stand for anything ahead of a midterm election, imagine how fearful they will be to even stick their fingers in the wind with the White House at stake.
“Well, we can’t get anything done without the White House anyway,” they will contend. “Let’s not undermine the effort to win the presidency by picking fights with Obama.”
The entirety of the 114th Congress will be driven by fear of 2016.
Ok, but wait until 2017 when Republicans control everything. Then they will really fight for a decisive conservative agenda and will overturn every inimical policy of the Obama administration.
Maybe in some dreamland, folks.
With control of all branches of government, and the undivided responsibility that comes with such power, Republicans will be even more indisposed to roll back big government. “How can we risk losing power?”
Furthermore, let’s remember that many of the same arguments promulgated by Republicans in the minority will persist even when they are in control of the White House. These same hackneyed politicians have already agreed to the Democrat premise of default. So they will feel compelled to raise the debt ceiling even with full control of the government.
The current crew of GOP leaders has already agreed to the Democrat premise on immigration. That will not change when they are in the majority.
They have already accepted the notion of a permanent federal control over transportation and agriculture policy. That will not change when they are in power.
Republicans have made it clear that they will not publicly fight back against the growing anti-religious–liberty agenda forcing alternative lifestyles on private citizens and organizations.
In fact, these same non-leaders tend to be at their best specifically when they are in the minority. The allurement of power only moves them to the left when they are the majority party in Washington.
Hence, whether we are talking about 2015, 2017, or well beyond, there is never an end-game for these politicians. The pursuit of power over principle; the quest for authority for its own sake is a circuitous cycle of failure.
The only way to end the failed cycle of politics is to change the way we approach primaries. This year would be a great time to start." via Mark Levin twitter
