The left needs a villain to get folks hating--even if it's all an act. There is no villain because the GOP doesn't want to win, won't fight, likes being in the minority, shut the Tea Party people down. Exhibit A, John McCain. He was determined not to win, campaigned for Obama himself, was begged by right of center Americans to act like he wanted to win, told them to bug off. The same people are still running the GOP and will only accept a very low key candidate. ed.

Per the LA Times, the Republicans have completely lost the 'enthusiasm gap' they had last year. Translation: the GOP has succeeded in its stated goal to shut down the Tea Party:

Increasingly uncivil behavior of the left ensues because Obama supports it. He is on record that wielding a deadly weapon at a polling place is just fine.
