2/17/13, "Breitbart's Ben Shapiro Replaces Karl Rove as CA GOP Convention Keynote," Breitbart, Tony Lee
"Breitbart News editor-at-large Ben Shapiro will give a keynote
address at the California Republican Party convention this March, taking
the spot previously scheduled for Karl Rove.
According to the Sacramento Bee, "Rove's
talk has been moved to the Saturday luncheon because of a scheduling
conflict," and the CA Republican Party "had been seeking to book a
speaker who would appeal to conservatives in light of a rift caused by
Rove's newly announced Conservative Victory Project."
Conservatives and Tea Partiers have claimed Rove's super PAC was created to go to war against them in Republican primaries.
Shapiro, the author of Bullies: How the Left's Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences Americans, has
been lauded in recent months for getting the better of mainstream media
personalities like CNN's Piers Morgan in debates about gun control and
the Second Amendment."

Why would Calif. GOP invite the architect of
'America without Republicans' to speak at all unless they agree with Rove that the US should have only one functioning political party, the democrats? (The GOP is just for collecting money, media appearances primarily on Fox News, and influence peddling):
7/13/12, "Welcome to California: America without Republicans," Conn Carroll, Washington Examiner
"Democrats have also enjoyed complete control of
the state legislature since 1997. And they have governed exactly the way
you'd expect Democrats to govern....
Spending has more than doubled, from $45.4
billion in 1996 to more than $92.5 billion today. Income, sales and car
taxes have all been hiked....
Even with all those tax hikes, California's 2012 budget is still $15.7 billion in the red....
At 10.8 percent, California has the
third-highest unemployment rate in the country. There are fewer
private-sector jobs in the state today, 11.9 million, then there were in
2000, 12.2 million.
And thanks to liberal welfare requirements, a
third of all the nation's welfare recipients live in California despite
the state only containing one-eighth of the national population."...

They invited Ted Cruz too but he was unable to do it:
2/15/13, "Ben Shapiro to speak at California Republican Party convention," Sacramento Bee, Capitol Alert
"The party had been seeking to book a speaker who would appeal to
conservatives in light of a rift caused by Rove's newly announced Conservative Victory Project, a super PAC that has come under fire from Tea Party supporters. Former GOP Senate leader Jim Brulte,
who is expected to be elected chairman at next month's convention, told
The Bee this week that the party extended an invitation to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, but that a scheduling issue prevented the freshman senator and Tea Party favorite from accepting."...
