Norquist being flown to Kansas by Kansas Chamber of Commerce for Jan. 16 breakfast to talk up illegal immigration

.
1/3/13, "Norquist coming to Kansas to talk about immigration," The Lawrence Journal-World, by Scott Rothschild

"Anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist is coming to Kansas at the behest of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce to oppose "restrictionist" policies on immigration reform.
"We are bringing Mr. Norquist to Kansas so legislators can hear what real immigration reform should look like," said Mike O'Neal, president and chief executive officer of the Kansas Chamber....

Norquist, who is better known nationally as the president of Americans for Tax Reform, will speak at a breakfast for legislators at 8 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Maner Conference Center Shawnee Ballroom in Topeka.

The breakfast will be hosted by the Kansas Chamber and the Kansas Business Coalition for Immigration Reform. In the past, the Kansas Chamber and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach have been at odds on the subject of illegal immigration."...

I wonder if those at the breakfast know about slime Norquist's background:

11/28/12, "Grover Norquist is the problem with Washington DC, not the solution," PJ Media, Patrick Poole

"In Sept 2003, Norquist was the main cheerleader and defender of the increases in government spending under President Bush and the GOP-controlled US House and Senate, claiming that these spending increases were to “make government more effective.“...

His record also shows that he has no real regard for the conservative movement he tries to wrap himself up in, as demonstrated following the investigation, arrest and conviction of his pal Jack Abramoff, where the investigation showed that Norquist whored out the conservative movement to a wide variety of interests, including Indian casinos, Marianas Island sweat shops and nefarious foreign governments.
Let’s also not forget Norquist’s lobbying on behalf of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to continue the homeownership tax credit, which as Erick Erickson noted directly contributed to the housing bubble and collapse at the expense of billions to the American taxpayers....

Nor were there any apologies, but rather a cover-up, when one of his lobbying firm’s clients, Abdurahman Alamoudi, came under fire for his terrorist associations. In response to those news reports, Norquist’s firm altered their lobbying disclosure forms naming Alamoudi as their client to try to conceal the relationship....

The Treasury Department later identified Alamoudi as one of Al-Qaeda’s top North American fundraisers.
One of the organizations that Alamoudi funded was Norquist’s Islamic Free Market Institute, which was also funded by the Saudis and the governments of Qatar and Kuwait....

And yet Norquist continued to push Alamoudi, even arranging for the Al-Qaeda financier (who was funneling money for Osama bin Laden since as early as 1993) to appear with President Bush just days after the 9/11 attacks.

And when other Norquist lobbying clients (and donors to Norquist’s organizations) were raided by the US Customs Service in the Operation Greenquest terror finance investigation, Norquist immediately sprung into action, arranging a meeting for his clients with then-Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill. With considerable money being directed to a number of GOP candidates, the investigation was quietly shut down by the Bush administration over the strong objections of the federal investigators on the case....

Norquist’s record is that he will cheer unfunded government spending increases when it suits his own interests, and will shift his interpretation of the ATR no-tax pledge depending on who is lobbying clients are or what special interests he is protecting."...

 ---------------------------------------------

Norquist ran his own lobbying company, Janus-Merritt from 1997-2002. Prior to that he was a registered foreign agent for the government of Angola.

11/24/11, "Grover Norquist: The Billionaires' Best Friend," Rolling Stone, Tim Dickenson, "How the anti-tax activist hijacked the GOP on behalf of the rich."

Ed. note: I included this link because it incorrectly connects Norquist to the Tea Party. Any apparent connection on Norquist's part was to neuter and preempt the TP. Lobbyist Norquist's survival in the Beltway depended on the TP's destruction. Norquist hooked up with a fake Tea Party establishment front group to burnish his TP bona fides. Had Norquist and the GOP not defeated the Tea Party, they would have been gone. Rolling Stone quotes some establishment guy from the Reagan admin. claiming the Tea Party takes orders from Norquist which of course is false but getting the media to print or say things like this is how you co-opt and diffuse. The Tea Party takes orders from no one least of all a longtime, Beltway swamp, lobbyist, establishment hack. The point of the Tea Party is to save this country which cannot be accomplished until the entire failed GOP establishment is replaced including Norquist. The slight hitch is these guys love the money they're making, have no intention of leaving, and couldn't care less about the country. The GOP knew it had to silence the Tea Party which it accomplished by several methods. One as mentioned was to co-opt them, chat them up, bring them in, diffuse them. This has been Norquist's specialty. He's done this with the help of a group claiming to be a national Tea Party recruiting group called TheTeaParty.net. The group's website says it contributes to CPAC. CPAC is Norquist's power base. Other self-proclaimed Tea Party groups have turned out to be fakes as well such as Tea Party Nation. Another method the GOP used was to spend a lot of money trying to defeat Tea Party candidates in primaries. Sometimes they went and got candidates themselves to run against Tea Party supported candidates in primaries. In at least one case in a general election the establishment actively supported a democrat running against a Tea Party candidate. In another case they redistricted a new, strong Tea Party congressman out of his district so he'd have greatly reduced chances of re-election. The GOP needed to break the spirit and power the Tea Party had built in the area. The GOP still wasn't done. They tried to primary the Tea Party guy in his new district. When the GOP plant lost the primary, he endorsed the democrat running against the Tea Party candidate. Still not done, the head of the GOP crime family Jeb Bush went all over saying the new people in the GOP were "dangerous." There are more details but I wanted to give you a rough idea of why it's impossible for actual Tea Party people to "take orders" from heinous slime such as Norquist.

======================================

As an ACU board member, Norquist knows about neutralizing conservatives. ACU runs CPAC, the yearly so-called conservative convention.

2/9/12, "The American Conservative Union: now neutralizing the conservative movement," by James Lampe, exclusive to Atlas Shrugs, "Corruption at the ACU" (American Conservative Union)

"While Norquist likes to ply his lobbying efforts in a fairly stealthy mode, his ACU BFF, Suhail Khan is not so shy. Khan lobbied Congress to soften up their opposition to the developer of the Ground Zero Mosque, and addressed the Muslim Brotherhood front group, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and proclaimed: “The early Muslims loved death, dying for the sake of almighty Allah, more than the oppressors loved life,” said an impassioned Khan, who wiped away tears throughout his speech. “This must be the case when we are fighting. What are our oppressors going to do with a people like us? We are prepared to give our lives for the cause of Islam.” (Video)

While there are conservatives at the ACU, it’s painfully clear there has been a power shift to the left, and in fact, the ACU’s actions appear to be neutralizing conservative progress.

Ask yourself if the ACU’s certification of counterfeit conservatives (FL Sen. Latvala), their support for Islamic extremists, and the usurpation of our sovereignty by implementing Agenda 21, are conservative or socialist policies? Would William F Buckley, Jr., be happy with the operations of the ACU, or the lobbying causes of their Chairman?"
