11/18/11, "PPB Releases Video from N17 Protest" Re: Nov. 17 protest
"This information is in regard to a specific confrontation that occurred during the 12-hour N17 protest that occurred on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Around 4:30 p.m., Portland Police Officers were attempting to remove people from Southwest Yamhill Street so that vehicular traffic and light-rail traffic could resume. Many people were in the street in what was a very dangerous situation....
Police made repeated loud-hail commands and officers on the ground reiterated those commands for people to clear the street and leave the area. A confrontation occurred between a group of protestors who would not disperse. Projectiles were thrown at police and an
- unidentified man struck a police horse.

Anyone with information about the identity of the person involved in this incident should call Central Precinct at (503) 823-0097."

I watched the short video 3 times which is hard to do if you care about animals. I saw protesters yelling and waving their arms in the animals' faces. In several instances protesters were abusing the defenseless horses' faces. The noise and crowd make it hard to tell which instance the police are referring to. My best guess is a point sometime after :20 on the tape against a black horse. If they want to locate the man who did this they should say when on the tape it happened. I saw another horse throw its head at around :37.

P.S. I don't have proof of this but heard that Bush-era anti-war protesters in NYC used to throw marbles on the street to get police horses to trip. ed.
