“Department of Justice official Bruce Ohr told Congress earlier this week that he informed half a dozen FBI and Justice Department officials about his contacts with [anti-Trump] dossier author Christopher Steele and opposition researcher Glenn Simpson.

Sources familiar with Ohr’s testimony before the House Judiciary and House Oversight Committees told The Daily Caller News Foundation that Ohr informed Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page about his interactions with Steele and Simpson. He also informed Justice Department prosecutor Andrew Weissmann about his dossier-related work."...

[Added: Mr. Ohr also informed FBI agent Joe Pientka: “Fox News also reported that Ohr claimed to have met with…Joe Pientka, an FBI agent who reportedly interviewed former national security adviser Michael Flynn with Strzok….Ohr said at least one of these officials signed off on a FISA warrant application….Of the officials who have been identified in reports, McCabe was the only one known to have signed off one of them.”…8/30/18, Washington Examiner]

(continuing): "Weissmann is now serving as right-hand man to Robert Mueller at the special counsel’s office.

Ohr testified that he informed his [then] Justice Department peers, but not his superiors, about his contacts with Steele and Simpson. One of the superiors kept out of the loop was former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates. Ohr said he was demoted as assistant deputy attorney general in December because he failed to tell Yates and other top officials about his dossier interactions….

Ohr met and spoke with Steele numerous times through May 2017. Ohr debriefed the FBI at least 12 times following his post-election contacts with Steele….

Ohr’s wife was also a focus of Tuesday’s closed-door interview….Ohr testified that Fusion approached his wife for a job and that she began working for the research firm in late 2015. California GOP Rep. Darrell Issa said Ohr testified that his wife was paid $44,000 by Fusion GPS. As TheDCNF has reported, Ohr did not disclose his wife’s Fusion income on his annual ethics disclosure form.

Perkins Coie, the law firm for the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee, paid Fusion GPS more than $1 million for the Trump-Russia project. Fusion paid Steele nearly $170,000 for his work….

The special counsel’s office declined to comment on Weissmann’s links to Ohr.”

McCain effectively confirms that without Sarah Palin, there would be no President Trump. McCain never wanted a party that opposed the Democrats-you betcha. Sarah Palin alone kept us alive for years while we waited for Trump

“Despite having numerous opportunities over the past several years to criticize her former back-stabbing, war-mongering, decepticon and former running mate, Sarah Palin always refused to be critical of the pontificating pus goblin known as Senator John McCain.

To highlight the severity of the self-interest, elitist superiority and bitter hatred carried in the heart of the entire McCain clan, Sarah Palin was not invited to attend his funeral service. Barack Obama, Joe Biden and George Bush will deliver remarks.

WASHINGTON DC – Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has reportedly not been invited to attend funeral services for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), her onetime running mate.

NBC News reported Wednesday that Palin had not been invited. A source within the Palin family told NBC News that “out of respect to Senator McCain and his family we have nothing to add at this point.”  (read more)””

Sarah Palin was the only reason I voted for McCain. The media, Rinos and Dems tried to destroy the Palin Family. Megan McCain was ruthless toward Sarah. Just like her father, who died a angry hateful person. Sarah is a beautiful, classy, American Patriot. Love you Sarah….you betcha”

Palin made McCain’s campaign for president actually competitive, and she saved his senate run afterwards from certain defeat by coming out to AZ and stumping for him. (Something I have never been able to forgive her for) John McCain owes Palin big time, but he was just as dishonorable to her as he was after the USS Forrestal, His antics in the senate after wards, cheating on and leaving his disabled wife, and his desperate clutching to power while on his deathbed. The fact that McCain knew she was the one who pull his rear out of the fire ensured that he would treat her this way. Honor was a foreign concept to him.”

Comment: Naming Sarah Palin his 2008 running mate was the only good thing McCain ever did as an elected representative of Arizona. McCain never intended to win in 2008 of course. But the damage was done. He gave us Sarah.

16 Oregon County sheriffs ask voters to repeal Oregon Sanctuary State law. A measure to do so appears on November 2018 ballot. Sheriffs say it’s unfair to expect US citizens to uphold the law while exempting others-koin, Portland

.
One 2004 murder-robbery that convicted two men “will end up costing Oregon taxpayers at least $2.2. million.”

8/27/18, “16 county sheriffs: Vote to repeal Oregon’s sanctuary law,” koin.com, Portland, Oregon

“Clatsop County Sheriff Tom Bergin wrote the letter on Monday.”

“Fifteen Oregon county sheriffs endorsed a message from Clatsop County Sheriff Tom Bergin on Monday that called for voters to repeal the state’s sanctuary law in light of Mollie Tibbets’ murder.

Measure 105, which aims to repeal the law “limiting use of state and local law enforcement resources to enforce federal immigration laws,” qualified for the November ballotwith over 111,000 signatures. Sheriff Bergin, citing “respect for the law,” hopes voters will pass the measure this fall.

“The statute undermines respect for law in significant ways,” Bergin wrote in regard to the state’s sanctuary law, which was reinforced by Gov. Kate Brown in Feb. 2017. “It tells illegal immigrants that Oregon considers immigration-law violations so inconsequential as to be unworthy of police and sheriffs’ attention. In doing so, it legitimizes those violations and encourages more. As well, the statute invites the contempt of U.S. citizens and legal residents, whom Oregon expects to, abide by all laws."

Tibbets, a 20-year-old University of Iowa student, was last seen on July 18 when she went for a run in the rural town of Brooklyn — about an hour east of Des Moines. Her body was found by investigators in a cornfield on Aug. 21. The man that led investigators there, 24-year-old Cristhian Bahena Rivera, confessed to kidnapping Tibbets, killing her and dumping her body. He’s been charged with first-degree murder.

Rivera, a Mexican immigrant, had also been living in the area illegally for four-to-seven years, according to investigators. He had been working at a local family-owned dairy farm.

The search for Tibbets had the nation’s attention for over a month. Rivera’s arrest, and the discovery of Tibbets’ body did, too, including the eyes of President Donald Trump, who spoke about the revelation later that day during a rally in Charleston, West Virginia.

“You heard about today with the illegal alien coming in, very sadly, from Mexico and you saw what happened to that incredible, beautiful young woman,” Trump told the crowd in Charleston, according to the Associated Press. “Should’ve never happened. Illegally in our country. We’ve had a huge impact, but the laws are so bad. The immigration laws are such a disgrace, we’re getting them changed, but we have to get more Republicans. We have to get ’em.”

Trump’s call for immigration reform, in light of Tibbet’s murder, was echoed Monday in Bergin’s letter.

“Mollie Tibbets’ recent murder has refocused attention on the violence and heartbreak illegal-immigrant criminals can visit on Americans and their families,” Bergin wrote.

Also in the letter, Bergin countered pro-sanctuary arguments of his own creation. You can read those responses and Bergin’s full letter here.

Here’s a list of the county sheriffs that endorsed Bergin’s letter:
  • Gilliam — Sheriff Gary Bettencourt
  • Harney — Sheriff Dave Ward
  • Morrow — Sheriff Ken Matlack
  • Sherman — Sheriff Brad Lohrey
  • Umatilla — Sheriff Terry Rowan
  • Malheur — Sheriff Brian Wolfe

Added: From LA Times: In 2006 the sheriff of a northeastern Oregon county wrote to Mexico’s then President Vicente Fox asking him for $300,000, a small fraction of what they actually need to resume paying for normal police services. The budget has been used up by expenses arising from crimes committed by illegal aliens from Mexico. For example, county taxpayers are being forced to pay $2.2 million just for one 2004 case involving two criminals. One Mexican man arrested for burglary has been in county jail 20 times:

May 12, 2006, “Mr. (Vicente) Fox, Cough Up $300,000,“ LA Times, Tomas Alex Tizon, staff writer

“John Trumbo, a sheriff in northeastern Oregon, sends Mexico’s president (then Vicente Fox) a letter asking for funds to help pay for jailed illegal immigrants.”

“Out of ideas and low on cash one cold morning, the man with the biggest badge in town put his meaty fingers on a keyboard and tapped out a letter to the leader of Mexico.

“Dear Precidente [sic] Fox,” it began.

“My name is John Trumbo.

Between 1990 and 2000, Umatilla County’s Latino population, including legal and illegal immigrants, jumped 114% to 11,400 people, according to the Census Bureau. This doesn’t include thousands of seasonal workers who live here part of the year and many others who choose not to be counted.

About 70,000 people live in the county.

In towns such as Hermiston, Umatilla and Milton-Freewater, Latinos occupy entire neighborhoods, and the beginnings of “Little Mexico” commercial areas have taken hold. The neighborhoods tend to be poorer, and many residents blame Latino immigrants for the region’s gang and drug problems.

Public schools have become increasingly populated by Latinos. In Milton-Freewater and Umatilla, with a combined enrollment of about 3,300, Latinos make up half of the student body. No one knows how many are children of illegal immigrants because federal law prohibits schools from asking about parents’ immigration status.

Undocumented residents also have access to state and county services for drug and alcohol treatment, mental health, domestic violence and nutrition. While there’s grousing about taxpayer money being used for these services, nothing ignites more anger than illegal residents who end up in the criminal justice system.

“They already broke the law once coming over here,” says Pendleton resident Elaina Solomon, 49, an emigre from Honduras who works as a legal assistant. “Then they commit murders and robberies while they’re here. Why should we pay for their room and board at the jail? Why should we foot the bill?”

Trumbo’s letter to Fox resonated with Solomon and many other county residents even as some in the Latino community privately grumbled.

To anyone who asked, Trumbo explained:

The county has a daily jail capacity of 252 inmates but can afford staff and services for only 135. The sheriff’s office should have a minimum of 27 patrol officers but can fund only nine.

Between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. each day, no patrol officer is on duty.

“When people call the police, they expect to see the police,” Trumbo says. “They see it on TV all the time. But there are times when I can’t send anybody because I don’t have anybody because I don’t have the money.”

One reason, he says, is because the department spends so much of its $6.5-million annual budget on apprehending and jailing illegal immigrants. He understands that the immigration debate is complex and he hopes the people in Washington, D.C., are working to solve the problem soon.

He has no problem with Latinos personally, he says. “Some of my best friends,” Trumbo says, “are Hispanic.” He just wanted to tell someone, anyone, about the situation here. Sometimes a sheriff in rural eastern Oregon can feel like his words dissolve in the wind, like a coyote’s howl.

Is anyone out there listening? President Bush? Presidente Fox?
Umatilla County covers 3,228 square miles of watermelon farms, asparagus and alfalfa fields and gently rounded hills that continue north into Washington and Idaho.

In the northern outskirts of Pendleton, the county seat, the area’s top lawman answers his phone like a bark: “Trumbo.”…
He speaks his mind largely without editing: “The reason why Hispanics come here is because white people are too damn lazy to bend down and do real work. It’s a fact.”

A native Oregonian (born in Albany), Trumbo has been in law enforcement for three decades, the Umatilla sheriff since 1997. He and his wife, Carol, a schoolteacher, have two grown sons.

When the sons visit, Trumbo requires them to remove their earrings before entering the house.

“A matter of decorum,” he says. Trumbo has seen the changes on both sides of the Cascades.

In the last 16 years, the Latino population in 20 of Oregon’s 36 counties has as much as tripled. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates the number of illegal immigrants in the state has jumped to as many as 175,000, compared with 25,000 in 1990.

Many of them end up in places like Umatilla County, where they take the hardest farming jobs — such as picking asparagus or pitching watermelon — or work on assembly lines in food-processing factories.

The population increase has led to a corresponding rise of undocumented immigrants who commit crimes. Trumbo says between nine and 15 jail beds are occupied each day by illegal immigrants from Mexico.

Among those in jail is Ever Alexis-Flores, 25, convicted in a 2004 murder-robbery near Hermiston. Alexis-Flores and four men broke into a remote house where as many as 12 farmworkers lay sleeping. The robbers, who knew the workers had been paid the previous night, took cash and cellphones and killed one worker and wounded his 16-year-old son.

The majority of jailed illegal immigrants, though, are in for property crimes. One man arrested for burglary, Juan Flores-Romero, has been in the Umatilla County jail 20 times. Flores-Romero, 62, was deported in almost every instance.

Says Trumbo: “The old joke among the immigration agents who shuttled these guys back to Mexico was, ‘I hope we make it back to Pendleton before they do.'”

It is a national problem. One Justice Department report estimates that 270,000 illegal immigrants serve jail time every year, most in California, Arizona, Florida, Texas and New York.
It costs the United States [taxpayers] more than $1 billion a year, according to the Government Accountability Office.

In Trumbo’s letter to Fox, the sheriff asked to be reimbursed for the basics, such as food, clothing and shelter. Not included were costs related to medical and dental services, transportation, legal defense and prosecution, all of which total millions of dollars each year just for Umatilla County.

“Of course, [Trumbo] didn’t consult with us before he wrote the letter,” says Umatilla County Commissioner Emile Holeman. “But if he consulted me, I would have said, ‘Gosh, you should mail that.'”

Others found the sheriff’s letter disturbing. Shelley Latin, an attorney who represents mostly low-income Latinos, says Trumbo’s letter hinted at a type of racism pervasive within local law enforcement.”…

[Ed. note: First, being from Mexico reflects a nationality, not a race. Secondly, the sheriff has already demonstrated anti-white racism. Says Hispanic people come here because “white people are too damn lazy” to do real work. Third, Mexico isn’t even the issue. The issue is the criminal US political class which insists on open borders.]

(continuing): “”The implication is that Hispanics are the cause of the crime problems here,” Latin says. “It suggests that if Hispanics were all taken away, we would suddenly be crime-free. That’s just silly.”

The Mexican consul general for Oregon, Fernando Sanchez Ugarte, who received a copy of the letter, says he doesn’t know whether Fox will respond. Ugarte says he personally dismissed the letter as political posturing, not to mention racist.

The sheriff, he says, “is pinpointing one ethnic group,” and he’s not sending letters to the presidents of all the other countries in the world.

“If a visitor from Switzerland does something wrong while visiting Umatilla County,” Ugarte says, “will Mr. Trumbo send a bill to the leader of Switzerland? I don’t think so.”

At Magana’s Barbershop in Hermiston, 28 miles away, Trumbo’s letter was received with more venom. “It was a slap in the face,” says owner and operator Martin Magana.

On this day, a half-dozen young Latino men await haircuts. It is a one-room shop, small and intimate, with lad mags laid out in thick piles on a table. A poster of Bruce Lee adorns the wall above the mirrors.

“Yeah, [Trumbo] was trying to be the hero to the Anglos,” says Magana, 30, as he runs an electric shear over the center of a customer’s head. The men in the room are all friends with one essential trait in common: At one point in their family lineage, someone immigrated to this region illegally.

“That’s the thing,” says Saul Olvera, 23, “we’re all one family, one community. We’re all legal in here [a few of the men snicker], but a lot of our relatives are still illegal.”…

Back at the Justice Center in Pendleton, Trumbo has made a copy of his latest letter. This one is to the local newspaper. In it, he recounts the 2004 murder-robbery near Hermiston. Without naming them, he writes that two of the convicted men, sentenced to 25 and 50 years, will end up costing Oregon taxpayers at least $2.2. million.

“Somebody’s got to say, ‘Enough is enough,’ ” he says.

As for Fox, the sheriff doubts he’ll ever hear from him. In fact, Trumbo is beginning to think Fox doesn’t care. But for anyone who asks why his jail isn’t filled to capacity or why no officer will respond to a call after 2 a.m., he has an answer requiring no speech. He rifles through a drawer looking for “the list.”

It is 15 pages long, single-spaced in fine print, naming every illegal immigrant who took up space in his jail last year. The inmates are listed each night they’re in custody. Trumbo holds the list in front of him and doesn’t say a word. In his mind, he doesn’t have to: Just the sound of all those shuffling pages makes his case.”…………..

US elites agree they’re so indispensable to running US society that even if they commit egregious crimes we should grant them immunity-Glenn Greenwald, New Yorker, 9/3/18, quote from 2011 Greenwald book

.
“It has become a virtual consensus among the elites that their members are so indispensable to the running of American society that vesting them with immunity from prosecution—even for the most egregious crimes—is not only in their interest but in our interest, too.”…From Greenwald’s 2011 book, first chapter, “With Liberty and Justice for Some: How the Law Is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful.” Added: “I don’t regard the F.B.I. as an upholder of the rule of law. I regard it as a subverter of it.”

9/3/18, “Glenn Greenwald, the Bane of Their Resistance,“ The New Yorker, Ian Parker

“A leftist journalist’s bruising crusade against establishment Democrats—and their Russia obsession.”

“In 2011, Greenwald published a book whose title—“With Liberty and Justice for Some: How the Law Is Used to Destroy Equality and Protect the Powerful”—could serve as a headline for much of what he had written in the previous six years. He had given up a career as a litigator in New York, moved to Brazil, and started to write, first as a blogger and then as a columnist for Salon. In the book’s first chapter, he wrote,

“It has become a virtual consensus among the elites that their members are so indispensable to the running of American society that vesting them with immunity from prosecution—even for the most egregious crimes—is not only in their interest but in our interest, too.”…

On Twitter, Greenwald recently described the self-identified “resistance” to Trump as “the first #Resistance in history that venerates security state agencies.” He has denounced the congressman Adam Schiff, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, who has sought to investigate Trump-Russia in the face of Republican obstruction, as “one of the most hawkish, pro-militarism, pro-spying members of the Democratic Party.” He has tweeted, “I don’t regard the F.B.I. as an upholder of the rule of law. I regard it as a subverter of it.” Greenwald told me, “Robert Mueller was the fucking F.B.I. chief who rounded up Muslims for George Bush after 9/11, and now, if you go to hacker conferences, there are people who wear his image, like he’s Che Guevara, on their shirt.” Maddow and other liberals may show respect to the former C.I.A. director John Brennan when he accuses Trump of colluding with Russia, but Greenwald’s view is that Brennan, who sanctioned extraordinary rendition, should be shunned.

These critiques have changed Greenwald’s place in American political life. “My reach has actually expanded,” he told me. “A lot of Democrats have unfollowed me and a lot of conservatives or independent people have replaced them, which has made my readership more diverse, and more trans-ideological, in a way that’s actually increased my influence.” His audience now ranges from leftist opponents of Hillary Clinton, such as Susan Sarandon and Max Blumenthal, to right-wing figures such as Sebastian Gorka and Donald Trump Jr.

U.S. institutions have long been broken, he [Greenwald] maintains, and can offer only illusory comfort. To protest the flouting of American norms is to disregard America’s perdition—from drone strikes and unwarranted surveillance to the Democratic Party’s indebtedness to Wall Street and Silicon Valley. Shortly before Trump’s Inauguration, Greenwald wrote an article for the Intercept titled “The Deep State Goes to War with President-Elect, Using Unverified Claims, as Democrats Cheer.” The Drudge Report promoted the article, and it went viral. This had the effect of offering the phrase “deep state”—which, until then, had been a murmur among political scientists and fringe bloggers—as a gift to Trump defenders. Roger Stone referred to the article in an interview with Alex Jones, on Infowars; Greenwald spoke of “deep-state overlords” on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” According to data from the GDELT Project, the phrase “deep state” then took off—first on Fox, then on other networks, and then in the tweets of the President and his family.”…

Bush #1 administration lied to Gorbachev, promised that NATO wouldn’t expand one inch to the east if Gorbachev ended Warsaw Pact and left E. Germany. Russia kept its word but US didn’t. US expanded NATO to include former Warsaw Pact countries and made it an anti-Russia military alliance. Russia’s requests to join NATO were spurned-Strategic Culture, 10/9/2015

.
"[George HW] Bush made his feelings about compromising with Moscow clear to Kohl: ‘To hell with that!’ he said. ‘We prevailed, they didn’t.’… In April, Bush spelled out this thinking in a confidential telegram to French President François Mitterrand…making it clear to Mitterrand that the dominant security organization in a post–Cold War Europe had to remain NATO — not any kind of pan-European alliance"…

Who benefits? The Endless Unwinnable US taxpayer funded War Industry–as long as US taxpayers remain its slaves.

10/9/2015, “How America Double-Crossed Russia and Shamed West," Strategic Culture Foundation, Eric Zuesse

“The conditionality of the Soviet Union’s agreement to allow East Germany to be taken by West Germany and for the Cold War to end, was that NATO would not expand «one inch to the east». This was the agreement that was approved by the Russian President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, a great man and a subsequent hero to democrats around the world.

He [Gorbachev] agreed then to end the Soviet Union and abandon communism and thus to end the entire Cold War; he agreed to this because he had been promised that NATO would expand not «one inch to the east,» or «one inch eastward,» depending upon how the promise was translated and understood — but it has the same meaning, no matter how it was translated. He trusted American President George Herbert Walker Bush, whose friend and Secretary of State James Baker made this promise to Gorbachev. With this promise, Gorbachev agreed to end the Soviet Union; end the communist mutual-defense pact which was their own equivalent of NATO, the Warsaw Pact; and he believed that the remaining nation that he would then be leading, which was Russia, would be accepted as a Western democracy.

He was even promised by the United States that «we were going to make them a member [of NATO], we were – observer first and then a member». In other words: the U.S. promised that NATO would not extend up to the borders of Russia and so become a mortal threat to the national security of the Russian people – now isolated and separated from its former military allies. Instead, Gorbachev was told, Russia would itself become welcomed into the Western Alliance, and ultimately become a NATO member. That was the deal, ending the 46-year Cold War.

Russia kept its part of the bargain. The United States did not; the U.S. instead lied through its teeth and so has since expanded NATO to absorb former member-nations of the Warsaw Pact into NATO as being, now, an anti-Russian military alliance — exactly what the U.S. had promised would never happen. U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush in private told West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl (who had wanted to go along with what James Baker had arranged): «To hell with that! We prevailed, they didn’t». He didn’t want peace with Russia; he wanted to conquer it; he wanted to rub Russians’ noses in their inferiority to Americans.

Russia’s continued (and continuing) desire to join NATO has simply been spurned. This is war by NATO in intent; it is the exact opposite of what the U.S. had promised to Russia, on the basis of which the Warsaw Pact ended. How can the Russian people then trust such a country as the United States? They would need to be fools to do so.

But this deceit, this double-cross, isn’t merely America’s shame; it has also become the shame by the entirety of the nations that joined in that Western promise at the time. Because all of them accepted America’s leadership in this double-crossing war against Russia, America’s war to conquer Russia. They accept this merely by remaining as members of the now-nefarious military gang, which NATO has thus become. Worse yet, some of the other member-nations of NATO at the time were (like West Germany’s Kohl, the model for his protégé Angela Merkel, who now continues the crime) themselves key participants in the making, and now breaking, of that promise to Russia.

Here is the evidence regarding this massive and ongoing historical international crime — the crime that’s now the source of so much misery and even death in not only Russia but the rest of Europe, and of millions of refugees fleeing from Libya, Syria, Ukraine, and other former Russian-allied nations — the chaos that’s being led by America.”…

“John McCain likely wouldn´t want a white man to take his place in the U.S. Senate, hisormer campaign manager [Rick Davis] said Monday. “He´s always been someone who´s encouraged participation in politics, especially in the Republican Party, with minorities and women,” Rick Davis said during a news conference. “I think a Hispanic woman probably would´ve been his pick for a successor if he would´ve lived long enough.” Davis declined to go into further detail about McCain´s wishes or speculate on specific appointment possibilities”…

Comment: “If he’d lived long enough?” The mass murdering monster did live long enough. He was 81 years old. The problem is he thought only of himself. If he wanted to give someone new a chance he could´ve retired from the Senate a decade or two ago and allowed the people of Arizona to elect a different person. But he chose not to do that. McCain himself said the Beltway press corps was his true political base:

(Subhead, “Being lauded as a hero): “A stream of hagiographies is pouring forth from the Beltway press corps that he described as his true political base.…

Following are 8 among comments to above Arizona Republic article about McCain’s possible Senate successor posted at a popular, right of center political website. I won’t name the website–the owner doesn’t need any grief. People can believe these comments or not. I’ve visited the site for many years:

One: “RIP to a veteran who served our country. And, good riddance in the US Senate to a egotistical jerk who put his love for himself above all, including his country. Notice I said and. We can honor him for his military service and rue his horrible tenure as an elected official.”
……………………..

Two: “His logical successor would be any lawful descendant of Benedict Arnold.”
……………………….

Three: “I´m surprised the egotistical, petty, vindictive little (rimes with hazard) didn´t switch parties on his deathbed!”
…………………………

Four: “”Successor??” “HIS place???” Contrary to what John McCain and his leftie butt kisses thought, he was NOT a king or potentate and that Senate seat was NOT his to designate as to who should serve after him!!! That Senate seat belongs to the good people of the fine State of Arizona and their REPUBLICAN governor will decide who will serve in that seat until 2020, regardless of what McCain´s will might say!!

TERM LIMITS NOW!! These old fossils get so deeply planted in Congress and the Senate that they get the twisted idea that the houses of Congress are the joined House of Lords and the seat is theirs to hand down to their heirs!! Enough of this crap!!! Vote the fossils out!! Bring the new blood in!! Return the Congress to the people!!”
……………………….

Five: “The ideal replacement would be a backstabbing, vile-tempered runt with an insatiable appetite for publicity and an utter lack of anything resembling principles or integrity.“
………………………..

Six: “I thought he bequeathed his office to his wife and daughter, their heirs and assigns forever.”
……………………..

Seven: “We The People will decide who will run for this Senate seat, thank you very much. In the meantime, the Arizona Governor will appoint a Republican to finish out the term. I don´t care what color or sex the person is, only that he or she looks after the citizens of the United States, not Central America. ”
…………………………

Eight: “I´m sorry, but if his EGO had allowed it, he could have resigned several months ago and worked with the governor to help pick his replacement. I don´t see how the governor could have refused to comply either.

But his ego wouldn´t allow it. He was going to stay in that seat until he was taken out in a box — which he did. So he has no say in it any more (thank God)!!!!!

When McCain is getting more praise in death from Demon-RATs than fellow Republicans, that speaks volumes about the quality of his character…”

8/27/18, “The Other Side of John McCain,” Consortium News, Max Blumenthal

(Subhead, “Being lauded as a hero”): “A stream of hagiographies is pouring forth from the Beltway press corps that he described as his true political base….

If the paeans to McCain by this diverse cast of political climbers and Davos denizens seemed detached from reality, that’s because they perfectly reflected the elite view of American military interventions as akin to a game of chess, and the millions of dead left in the wake of the West’s unprovoked aggression as mere statistics.

There were few figures in recent American life who dedicated themselves so personally to the perpetuation of war and empire as McCain. But in Washington, the most defining aspect of his career was studiously overlooked, or waved away as the trivial idiosyncrasy of a noble servant who nonetheless deserved everyone’s reverence.

McCain did not simply thunder for every major intervention of the post-Cold War era from the Senate floor, while pushing for sanctions and assorted campaigns of subterfuge on the side. He was uniquely ruthless when it came to advancing imperial goals, barnstorming from one conflict zone to another to personally recruit far-right fanatics as American proxies.

In Libya and Syria, he cultivated affiliates of Al Qaeda as allies, and in Ukraine, McCain courted actual, sig-heiling neo-Nazis.

While McCain’s Senate office functioned as a clubhouse for arms industry lobbyists and neocon operatives, his fascistic allies waged a campaign of human devastation that will continue until long after the flowers dry up on his grave.

American media may have sought to bury this legacy with the senator’s body, but it is what much of the outside world will remember him for.”...[All paid for by US taxpayers].

Four among comments to above:

One: “Mike from Jersey:…The undiluted adulation of John McCain being displayed in the corporate media is nothing short of an indictment of modern America. How can the media ignore the obvious. There are undoubtedly hundreds of thousands of dead, injured or crippled people in the world whose fate was both avoidable and unnecessary. The fact that our corporate media can ignore the significance of that fact on this day shows just how far we have fallen as a nation. The heart of the “establishment” or the “deep state” or whatever you want to call it, is simply and completely without moral compass. There is no other way to put it.”

Two: “Ed: I can’t help but think that all the praise being heaped upon Sen. McCain is being coordinated by what has been called the Deep State, and is yet another desperate attempt to plant in the minds of citizens the narrative that what the deep state intelligence/political organizations do is for the good of the US and the world.

It’s unlikely to work as the crimes of our officials are being brought to light. It seems obvious that the alternate media, including Consortium News, is bringing about a change in the way that the actions of our government are being viewed by the American people.”

Three: “Gary Weglarz August 27, 2018 at 10:40 am: A psychopath’s psychopath. Few humans in recent history can claim more innocent blood on their hands than this monster.”

Four: “Realist August 27, 2018 at 5:27 am All these loopy liberals who are presently praising McCain just want to hoodwink the public into voting against McCain’s biggest political target come November: Donald Trump and the Republican congress that might keep him from being impeached. It’s just pure expediency.”…

US Steel cites Trump trade policies and tariffs for growth in business, renaissance. Announces $750 million in upgrades to Gary, Indiana plant-Chicago Tribune, 8/16/18

8/16/18, “U.S. Steel to invest $750 million to revitalize flagship Gary plant in wake of Trump tariffs,“ Chicago Tribune, Robert Channick

“U.S. Steel announced Thursday that it is investing $750 million to revitalize its flagship Gary plant to gear up for increased demand in the wake of President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported steel.

The company said the investment will make “significant upgrades” to increase efficiencies at the 110-year-old Northwest Indiana plant, which is U.S. Steel’s largest, employing 3,800 workers.

The investment in the Gary plant is part of a $2 billion asset revitalization program at Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel. The five-year Gary project will include building expansion and the installation of new production equipment and technology.

No new hires were announced as part of the plant improvements.

“There are no committed new jobs at this point, but the project will retain the more than 3,800 jobs in Gary,” Abby Gras, a spokeswoman for the Indiana Economic Development Corp., said Thursday.

U.S. Steel Corp. President and CEO David Burritt credited favorable trade policies on steel imports as instrumental to the company’s facility modernization program.

“We are pleased to be making this significant investment at Gary Works, which will improve the facility’s environmental performance, bolster our competitiveness and benefit the local community for years to come,” Burritt said in a news release.

“We are experiencing a renaissance at U.S. Steel,” he added.

Earlier this year, U.S. Steel announced it was restarting two blast furnaces and hiring 800 workers at a previously idled steel plant in downstate Granite City, near St. Louis. Trump visited the Illinois plant last month to celebrate its reopening as “a great victory” and a sign that his protectionist trade policies were working.

Trump imposed tariffs of 25 percent on imported steel and 10 percent on imported aluminum in March, launching an escalating trade war with China and other countries. The domestic steel industry has emerged as an early winner, but others may be hurt by retaliatory tariffs.

For example, Milwaukee-based manufacturer Harley-Davidson announced in June it would move some production overseas to avoid tariffs on American-made motorcycles imposed by the European Union in response to Trump’s measures.

China dominates the global steel market, but Trump’s tariffs on imported steel are seen as a catalyst for domestic manufacturers such as U.S. Steel.

U.S. and Chinese officials said Thursday they would hold talks later this month in a bid to ease the escalating trade war.

Located on the southern shore of Lake Michigan, Gary Works is U.S. Steel’s largest manufacturing plant, with an annual raw steelmaking capability of 7.5 million net tons. The facility makes sheet products, strip mill plate in coils and tin products.

“Today’s news is a major step forward that will have a lasting positive impact on the city of Gary, the northwest region and the state of Indiana for years to come,” Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb said in the release.”
