Trump is doing what we voted against. Trump won because we thought he shared our desire to focus homeward rather than on endless global military confrontations. We definitely wanted friendlier relations with Russia. Russia isn't the problem. Nor is North Korea. The US political class is the problem. It has flooded our country with Islamist refugees and immigrants for decades. If they haven't tried to kill or injure us, their offspring have. US law enforcement is swamped with thousands of open terror investigations

.
"Was this what America voted for, or is this what America voted against?"

7/31/17, "Shall We Fight Them All?" Pat Buchanan

"Among the reasons Trump routed his Republican rivals in 2016 is that he seemed to share an American desire to look homeward....

Apparently, U.S. wars in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Somalia are insufficient to satiate our War Party. Now it wants us to lead the Sunnis of the Middle East in taking down the Shiites, who are dominant in Iran, Iraq, Syria and South Lebanon, and are a majority in Bahrain and the oil-producing regions of Saudi Arabia....

After Congress voted overwhelmingly for new sanctions on Russia last week and Trump agreed to sign the bill that strips him of authority to lift the sanctions without Hill approval, Russia abandoned its hopes for a rapprochement with Trump’s America. Sunday, Putin ordered U.S. embassy and consulate staff cut by 755 positions.

The Second Cold War, begun when we moved NATO to Russia’s borders and helped dump over a pro-Russian regime in Kiev [Ukraine, in 2014], is getting colder. Expect Moscow to reciprocate Congress’ hostility when we ask for her assistance in Syria and with North Korea....

Recent days have also seen U.S. warships and Iranian patrol boats in close proximity, with the U.S. ships firing flares and warning shots. Our planes and ships have also, with increasingly frequency, come to close quarters with Russian and Chinese ships and planes in the Baltic and South China seas.

While wary of a war with North Korea, Washington seems to be salivating for a war with Iran. Indeed, Trump’s threat to declare Iran in violation of the nuclear arms deal suggests a confrontation is coming....

Today, our relations with China and Russia are as bad as they have been in decades, while there is open talk of war with Iran and North Korea....

One wonders: If Congress is hell-bent on confronting the evil that is Iran, why does it not cancel Iran’s purchases and options to buy the 140 planes the mullahs have ordered from Boeing? Why are we selling U.S. airliners to the “world’s greatest state sponsor of terror”? Let Airbus take the blood money.

Was this what America voted for, or is this what America voted against?"

Comment: President Trump, the Deep State is never going to treat you with respect no matter how many military actions you engage in. We thought you brought the country to a historic transition, but apparently we were mistaken. Thank you so much for stopping the CIA program in Syria--that was yuuuge. If you could get us out of Afghanistan, that would be great. Since the congress has tied your hands on Russia, they must experience a consequence. At minimum, cancellation of their ObamaCare accounts. What remains of the pathetic GOP Establishment and their donors are never going to play ball with you--never. You beat them the first time by strangling the last breath out of them. You beat them like a rag doll. Beating the GOP Establishment was actually a bigger accomplishment than beating the democrats. But now you're talking about trillions of dollars, money that can only be made by putting America Last, having fake elections, and retaining US taxpayers as global slaves. The GOP couldn't care less about the country. Brute force--at least cancelling their ObamaCare--is all that will get their attention or at least begin to get it.

Trump admin. finally allowing customs officials to screen all cargo trucks driving into US from Mexico. During Obama, “the order was to facilitate traffic, not to stop any illegal drugs from entering the country,” a veteran agent said. “We want to enforce the law. That’s what we signed up for." Massive quantities of opioid fentanyl coming across-Judicial Watch

.
8/1/17, "Drug Cartels Fuming at New U.S. Policy Screening 100% of Mexican Cargo Trucks," judicialwatch.org

"In a major shift from lax Obama-era regulations, the Trump administration is finally allowing customs officers to screen all cargo trucks entering the U.S. from Mexico and sources on both sides of the border tell Judicial Watch Mexican drug cartels are fuming. U.S. Customs and Border Protection is using X-ray technology and other non-intrusive tools to screen 100% of cargo trucks crossing the southern border after eight years of sporadic or random screening permitted under the Obama administration.

“We felt like we were the welcoming committee and not like we were guarding our borders,” said veteran U.S. Customs agent Patricia Cramer, who also serves as president of the Arizona chapter of the agency’s employee union.

“The order was to facilitate traffic, not to stop any illegal drugs from entering the country,” Cramer added. “We want to enforce the law. That’s what we signed up for.” Cramer, a canine handler stationed at the Nogales port of entry in Arizona, said illicit drugs are pouring in through the southern border, especially massive quantities of fentanyl, an opioid painkiller that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) says is more potent than morphine.

Approximately 471,000 trucks pass through the U.S-Mexico border monthly, according to figures published by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The busiest port of entry is in Laredo, Texas where 167,553 trucks enter the U.S. from Mexico monthly, followed by Otay Mesa in California (76,953), El Paso, Texas (58,913), Hidalgo, Texas (45,355) and Nogales with 29,439. Other busy ports include East Calexico, California (29,173), Brownsville, Texas (16,140) and Eagle Pass, Texas (12,952). Trucks bring in everything from auto parts to appliances, produce and livestock. In fact, a veteran Homeland Security official told Judicial Watch that cattle trucks passed without inspection during the Obama administration because Mexican farmers complained that the security screenings frightened their cows.

“Our guys were livid that we were not allowed to check cattle,” the federal official said.

Frontline customs agents stationed along the southern border confirm that trucks containing “legitimate” goods are often used by sophisticated drug cartels to move cargo north. This is hardly surprising since most illegal drugs in the United States come from Mexico, according to the DEA, and Mexican traffickers remain the greatest threat to the United States. They’re classified as Transitional Criminal Organizations (TCOs) by the government and for years they’ve smuggled in enormous quantities of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana. Last year the Congressional Research Service (CRS), the nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with policy and legal analysis, published a disturbing report outlining how Mexican cartels move record quantities of drugs into the U.S. Because cartels move the drugs through the Southwest border, western states have become part of what’s known as the “heroin transit zone,” according to the CRS.

Federal law enforcement sources tell Judicial Watch Mexican cartels operate like efficient businesses that resort to “other more treacherous routes” when necessary, but driving through a port of entry in a cargo truck is a preferred method of moving drugs.

Cartels station shifts of spotters with binoculars in Mexican hills near border checkpoints to determine the level of security screenings. “They know if we’re on the job, the level of screening that we’re conducting,” Cramer said. “The cartels watch us all the time.” Nogales is a favorite for cartel spotters because the U.S. checkpoint sits in a valley surrounded by hills on the Mexican side, where unobstructed views facilitate surveillance. “They see everything,” Cramer said. For years the cartel spotters saw that much of the cargo passing through the checkpoint was waved through, according to agents contacted by Judicial Watch."

Jeff Flake is neither a conservative nor does he have a conscience. Jeff Flake has proven time and again he's part of indulgent Washington DC hypocrisy-Brent Bozell

.

"CR Top 25 RINOS," Conservative Review: Jeff Flake Conservative Score: F

8/1/17, "Brent Bozell III: 'My Father Would Be APPALLED' by Jeff Flake's 'Conscience of a Conservative,'" by Craig Bannister

“Jeff Flake is not a conservative, nor does he have a conscience,” Media Research Center President Brent Bozell III declared in a statement denouncing Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) for misappropriating the title of a book written by Bozell’s father.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Bozell exposes Flake as an “imposter,” posing as a conservative, who has wantonly betrayed conservative principles at every turn:

"On behalf of my late father and my family, I am denouncing Senator Jeff Flake and his new book, dishonestly titled, 'Conscience of a Conservative.'

"Since entering the Senate in 2013, Jeff Flake has, time and again, proven he is part of the indulgent hypocrisy in Washington. While he waxes poetically about conservative principles, his Conservative Review Liberty score is an abysmal 53%, also known as 'F'. In 2013, I watched first-hand as Flake refused to sign a letter pledging to defund ObamaCare, among his many betrayals to conservatism. Jeff Flake is neither a conservative nor does he have a conscience.

"As every conservative leader knows, my father, L. Brent Bozell, Jr., ghost-wrote “Conscience of a Conservative” for Barry Goldwater. While the Goldwater Institute may own the rights to the book’s title, neither the organization nor Senator Flake have the right to unjustifiably trade on my father’s work.

'Conscience of a Conservative' is the greatest selling polemic in history, and Senator Flake is trading on its reputation to shamelessly promote himself and disguise his own conservative deficiencies. My father would be appalled to see this fraud as the author of the so-called 'sequel,' which it most certainly is not.

"The media need to know, when reporting on Senator Flake and his 'book,' that the author is a deceiver out for personal and financial gain.  I also call on my conservative brethren to denounce this impostor, who dishonorably claims to speak for conservatism, in the strongest possible terms.""

US gave 10,000 fast track to US citizenship in exchange for military service, but vetting was rushed and incomplete, endangering lives of US taxpayers forced to pay the bills for their own genocide. Pentagon Inspector Gen. finds serious security flaws, poor management, 'fears' infiltration, enrollees have disappeared, countries of origin are 'of concern' vs Islamic terror-James Rosen, Fox News

IG report remains "classified"-we're not allowed to know the danger we're in. Despite that this death trap program was paid for with US taxpayer dollars. If you put a stack of money on the front porch of an empty house, someone's going to take it. Definition of genocide as described by the term's creator, Raphael Lemkin: "Genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be the disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups."...

8/1/17, "Pentagon investigators find ‘security risks’ in government's immigrant recruitment program, infiltration feared," James Rosen, Fox News

"Defense Department investigators have discovered “potential security risks” in a Pentagon program that has enrolled more than 10,000 foreign-born individuals into the U.S. armed forces since 2009, Fox News has learned exclusively, with sources on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon expressing alarm over “foreign infiltration” and enrollees now unaccounted for.

After more than a year of investigation, the Pentagon’s inspector general recently issued a report – its contents still classified but its existence disclosed here for the first time – identifying serious problems with Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest (MAVNI), a DOD program that provides immigrants and non-immigrant aliens with an expedited path to citizenship in exchange for military service.

Defense Department officials said the program is still active but acknowledged that new applications have been suspended.
Created in the final weeks of the Bush-Cheney administration and launched under then-President Barack Obama, MAVNI was designed to recruit individuals with foreign-language and other skills the Pentagon deems useful and in short supply. The program has had many success stories – most notably the Army’s Soldier of the Year in 2012, Sgt. Saral Shrestha, originally of Nepal – and independent analyses have found MAVNI recruits out-perform non-MAVNI soldiers in critical areas.

Yet concern over management of the program has grown over recent months.

“The lack of discipline in implementation of this program has created problems elsewhere,” said Rep. Steve Russell, R-Okla., a retired Army officer who sits on the House Armed Services subcommittee on military personnel. It was Russell who first publicly sounded alarms. During the markup of the latest defense authorization bill, on June 28, Russell noted: “The program has been replete with problems, to include foreign infiltration – so much so that the Department of Defense is seeking to suspend the program due to those concerns.”

Another lawmaker, whose committee does not enjoy jurisdiction over MAVNI – but whose panel could well come to focus on these problems, depending on their severity – told Fox News that the program had been “compromised” and that DOD officials have not presented answers to his questions about missing enrollees: “Where are they? What do they know? Where are they serving? What are their numbers?”

Contacted by Fox News, Army Lt. Col. Paul Haverstick, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement: "The Department of Defense is conducting a review of the MAVNI pilot program due to potential security risks associated with the program.” Beyond that, however, Haverstick declined to comment, citing “pending litigation.”

Defense Secretary James Mattis, whom sources said had developed his own concerns about MAVNI, was named as the sole defendant in a lawsuit filed in February by seven foreign-born MAVNI enrollees. The lawsuit alleged that a decision by top brass in September to tighten up access to security clearances issued through MAVNI had had the effect of “crippling their military careers.”

Sources said MAVNI’s problems included a vetting backlog that led to enrollment of many soldiers prior to completion of their background checks, and an attendant “drift” in the program’s criteria, with MAVNI being used as a vehicle for the hiring of workers – like cooks, drivers and mechanics – who did not possess the specialized skills the program was created to exploit.

The title of the inspector general’s classified report – “Evaluation of Military Services' Compliance with Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest Program Security Reviews and Monitoring Programs” – hints at the problems, with its references to “security reviews” and “monitoring” of enrolled individuals.

Some lawmakers have received classified briefings on the matter. Sources said some of the countries of origin for MAVNI enrollees are “of concern,” but as of yet there is no evidence in the public domain that ISIS, Al Qaeda, or any other terrorist groups have penetrated the MAVNI program. Still, such a development remains an active concern.

“ISIS has always had desire to use migration as way to penetrate into countries,” said retired U.S. Army General Jack Keane, a Fox News military analyst. “They have done that successfully in Europe because of open borders, mass immigration with no vetting. In the U.S., we haven't had any record of their penetration. And certainly if this program is compromised and there's a possibility of that kind of penetration, it's got to be thoroughly investigated.”"

'Ordinary citizen' McCain dispatched fellow neocon David Kramer to UK to pick up a copy of Golden Showers Anti-Trump dossier after Trump's election. Who paid roundtrip airfare to UK incurred at request of 'ordinary citizen' McCain?

.
'Ordinary citizen' McCain sent fellow neocon David Kramer to the UK to pick up a copy of the 'Golden Showers' anti-Donald Trump dossier compiled by UK citizen Christopher Steele:

April 25, 2017, "Ex-spy admits anti-Trump dossier unverified, blames Buzzfeed for publishing," Washington Times, Rowan Scarborough

"Sir Andrew Wood, British ambassador to Moscow from 1995 to 2000, is also an associate of Christopher Steele at the UK Orbis firm. After the Nov. 8 presidential election, Mr. Wood met with Mr. McCain and David J. Kramer, [former president of neocon group Freedom House], a former assistant secretary of state who is director of human rights and democracy at The McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University. By that time, Mr. Steele had written 15 memos for the 'Golden Showers' anti-Trump dossier....

Mr. Wood arranged for Mr. Kramer to meet with Mr. Steele “in order to show him the pre-election memoranda on a confidential basis,” the court filing says. The meeting occurred on Nov. 28 (2016) in Surrey, England.

“[McCain aide] Mr. Kramer told [Mr. Steele] the intelligence he had gathered raised issues of potential national security importance,” the court filing says.

Mr. Kramer returned to Washington, and Fusion [GPS] agreed to give a hard copy of the dossier to Mr. McCain “on a confidential basis via Mr. Kramer,” according to the filing.

Mr. McCain then asked Mr. Steele, through Mr. Kramer, to provide any additional information on Russian interference in the election....

Mr. McCain has confirmed publicly that he personally turned over the dossier to FBI Director James B. Comey. But at that time, the FBI already had obtained the dossier from other sources and had been using it to investigate the supposed Trump-Russia connection.

Afterward, Mr.Steele continued to receive “raw intelligence,” including the Gubarev accusations. He wrote the December memo after his work for Fusion had ended.

He provided that memo to British national security officials and to Fusion through an “enciphered email,” with instructions to provide a copy to Mr. McCain."...
.......................

The aide was instructed to look for a man with a copy of the Financial Times  and that's how the individuals met, with the source taking McCain's emissary back to his house and giving the American a copy of the documents.

Within 24 hours, the dossier was in Washington, though the contents of the file couldn't be verified without an investigation....However, McCain decided to hand over the documents to FBI Director James Comey on December 9.

'Upon examination of the contents, and unable to make a judgment about their accuracy, I delivered the information to the Director of the FBI,' McCain said Wednesday in a statement about that matter."...

Added: Even if Neocons McCain and Kramer could remove Putin, it's likely he'd be "followed by a much harder-line Russian nationalist":

Neocon David J. Kramer, now with McCain Institute, was president of neocon group Freedom House for 4 years from 2010-2014:

"While the neocons do love their tough talk, they are not known for thinking through their "regime change" schemes."...Even if Putin was somehow removed from office, "he is far more likely to be followed by a much harder-line Russian nationalist who might well see Moscow’s arsenal of nuclear weapons as the only way to protect Mother Russia’s honor. In other words, the neocons’ latest brash “regime change” scheme might be their last – and the last for all humanity."

Deep State expertly exploited Trump's deal making propensities to push him in a corner and capture most of his foreign policy. Trump was conned into thinking he was cutting a deal with Deep State. His appointment of neocons is completely contradictory to what he campaigned on. It's all gone unless Trump turns himself around and bullishly embraces "Candidate Trump"-Oriental Review

.
July 31, 2017, "Trump Must Embrace His Revolutionary Self Or Politically Perish," Zero Hedge

"Authored by Andrew Korybko via OrientalReview.org,"

"President Trump’s first six months in office have left his supporters with decidedly mixed feelings.

There are those who still “believe” in him and are convinced that he’s perfectly executing some “master plan”, while there are others who have given up all hope on him and are convinced that he disappointedly “sold out”. The reality, as it usually is, lies somewhere between these two extremes.

Trump has clearly made several major foreign policy concessions to his opponents in the permanent military, intelligence, and diplomatic bureaucracies (the “deep state”), though he doesn’t seem to have fully given up on his campaign promises to be a revolutionary president.

What happened, though, was that the “deep state” expertly exploited Trump’s deal-making propensities to push him into a corner and capture control of most of his administration’s foreign policy.

Trump’s appointment of multiple individuals with a neoconservative worldview completely contradictory to the one that he campaigned on isn’t “to keep his political enemies forever guessing his real intentions”, as everybody already knew what he supposedly intended to do if he was ever elected president.

Instead, these people were placed in their respective positions because Trump was conned into thinking that he was cutting a deal with the “deep state” whereby he sacrificed some of his ambitiously revolutionary foreign policy promises in exchange for encountering less opposition to the implementation of his desired domestic agenda.

As could have been expected, the “Republicans In Name Only” (RINOs) didn’t abide by this “gentlemen’s agreement” between the President and the “deep state”, and they continued to make it all but impossible for Trump to govern except in the select instances when he could rely on Executive Orders.

Whereas Trump thought that he was wheeling and dealing in the foreign policy sphere in order to obtain advantageous outcomes in the domestic one, he soon found out that the domestic and foreign policies of the US are so intertwined as to be inseparable, meaning that a loss on one front inevitably leads to further losses on the other.

Trump has thus been caught in a trap from which he’ll have immense difficulty escaping, and which requires legendary “deep state” management skills and strategies to reverse, if it’s even possible to do so after all the negative momentum that he’s been tricked by his adversaries into generating.

Reflecting on how he got into this whole mess, it’s obviously due to the inter-services “deep state” collaboration which concocted the conspiracy theory about “Russia’s intervention” in the 2016 elections, and which therefore placed Trump on the strategic defensive and made him more likely to inadvertently enter into a series of disadvantageous deals.

Now that his back is to the corner on both the foreign and domestic policy fronts, Trump has no choice other than to embrace his revolutionary self that was proudly on display during the campaign trail if he wants to stand any feasible chance at implementing his policies.

It’s presumed that he’s working behind the scenes with his trusted advisors to slowly but surely place “his people” into key positions so as to facilitate this at a later time, but the clock is ticking, the momentum is turning against Trump, and he’s already been pressured into walking back many of his promises, whether as “tactical retreats” for the short term or as genuine strategic reversals.

If President Trump doesn’t bullishly embrace “Candidate Trump”, then he’s bound to politically perish and go down in history as one of the most ineffective and hamstrung leaders that the US has ever seen."

8/8/2016, "The Case For A Negotiated Republican Surrender To Hillary," Daily Caller, Jamie Weinstein, Senior Writer

"It’s time for Republican leaders to consider a negotiated endorsement of Hillary Clinton."...

[Ed. note: "Republican leaders?" You're not a "leader" unless you have followers. As of August 2016, no elected Republicans had any followers. Trump, the GOP nominee, was the party's de facto leader. As of Nov. 2016, he had nearly 63 million followers.]

(continuing): "Barring a Wikileaks revelation showing Clinton to be a secret member of ISIS, she seems to be on a glide path to the White House. Instead of Donald Trump attempting to expand his base since securing the Republican nomination, he is politically self-immolating on a national stage. Trump apologists keep saying he will soon change course. But the only way for Trump to change course is to change who he is. That’s not going to happen.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps humiliating the Republican bigwigs who reluctantly endorsed him, be it by attacking the parents of a fallen U.S. soldier [Deep State GOP hoped this non-issue meant the end for Trump] or refusing to immediately reciprocate their endorsements of him.

Why do Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and other Republicans continue to allow Trump to sap their dignity, especially as it becomes increasingly clear he is going to lose?

And even if he did win, what would there be to celebrate? Trump stands against so much of what conservatives have been fighting for since Ronald Reagan."...

[Ed. note: "Have been fighting for?" What "fighting" has taken place (apart from writing articles)? Who are the "conservatives" that have done this alleged "fighting"? What results have they had in the past 30+ years?]

(continuing): "So what to do? The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza recently posed an interesting question on Twitter.

“What if Hillary offered Republicans one SCOTUS pick? Would that open the floodgates for skeptical Republicans to rescind support for Trump,” he asked.

Why not go one step further? Given that Trump is on track to lose and given that his presidency might very well be worse for the country and conservatism than Hillary’s anyway, why don’t Republican lawmakers band together and see if they can come to some sort of deal with Hillary?

More precisely, top Republican and conservative leaders should band together and offer Hillary a deal to rescind their endorsements of Trump and endorse her in exchange for some policy concessions.

What would a possible deal look like, you ask?

In exchange for an endorsement, Hillary might promise Republicans the right to choose whom she nominates to fill Antonin Scalia’s seat on the Supreme Court. She should also be pushed to agree to some entitlement reform, perhaps in the form of Simpson-Bowles (not the best fix to our entitlement crisis, but better than anything Republicans can hope for when even the Republican presidential nominee rejects the need for entitlement reform). Maybe Republicans could even get her to commit to putting together a bi-partisan (or non-partisan) national security team to include widely respected figures like former Secretary of Defense Bob Gates and retired Gen. James Mattis."...

[Ed. note: Truly nauseating. "Widely respected" Bob Gates is among the worst of Deep State phonies.]

(continuing): "In addition to a public endorsement, the Republican legislators might agree to do everything they can to push through a Gang of Eight-style immigration bill if Hillary is elected. They might also promise to do their best to get her an up-or-down vote on any Supreme Court nominations she makes during her first term.

If she demands it, they even agree to help her achieve a federal minimum wage increase.

This wouldn’t be a bad deal. In fact, it would be a pretty damn good deal given where the Republican Party finds itself.

Ideally, the Republican delegation would include a wide range of respected Republicans and conservatives from both the establishment and anti-establishment,"...

[Ed. note: "A wide range of respected"? Pal, you don't have even one, much less "a wide range." By August 2016, Trump had resoundingly defeated whatever "respected" Republicans had to offer.]

(continuing): "but for it to matter to Hillary, it must also definitely include Republican congressional leaders like House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (and as many other members of Congress as possible) who would actually be in a position of fulfill the commitments of a deal.

The real question isn’t whether such a deal would be good for Republicans given their current circumstances, but why Hillary Clinton would even contemplate such a deal at this point? Every day, Trump seems to do something new to ensure he will lose in a landslide, and possibly take the Republican Senate and House with him. As the National Review’s Jonah Goldberg recently observed, he is not so much running a national campaign as a national speaking tour.

Given all this, Hillary might say, “no dice. I am on track to win this election with possibly a Democratic Senate and even a Democratic House. I don’t need to come to any accommodation. Thanks, but no thanks.”

But there are a couple reasons why Clinton might be inclined to come to an agreement. For starters, while Trump looks like he is tanking, you can never be so sure. A deal would make it more likely Hillary wins the White House, something she cares more about than any policy initiative.

Beyond that, a deal could be good for Hillary’s presidential legacy. If she can enlist Republican support in achieving some of her big policy goals before she is even sworn in, why not take it? Even the entitlement reform plank is something deep down she must know is necessary. History would remember her fondly for breaking from party orthodoxy to achieve something important for the country.

No matter who wins in November, conservatives have very little to look forward to politically over the next four years. A deal like this, fanciful as it may appear, would temper the pain."

In foreign policy, the liberal interventionists who would staff a Hillary administration line up seamlessly with neoconservatives in support of continued American “hegemony.” Opposition to this establishment consensus has been advancing, by fits and starts, and is now too large to be ignored."...

Added: More on so-called "right wing" or "conservative" media by Doug Ibendahl in his Jan. 2016 article. He says Conservative Entertainment Complex "nattering nabobs of negativism" have been "hanging around and chattering for decades, and some are active cogs in the Conservative Entertainment Complex, deriving their income by pandering to conservative anger while offering no real solutions." The following article on this topic by Mr. Ibendahl was prompted by National Review's Jan. 2016 issue entitled, "Against Trump." (image at end of post) featuring 22 anti-Donald Trump missives from "self-appointed conservative potentates." "The Gang of 22 had their chance. They’ve done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some. But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 [alphabetical list] got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose:"

"National Review’s publication of the collective anti-Donald Trump missives from 22 self-appointed conservative potentates has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.

The nationwide responses range from, “Wait, I thought National Review went out of business years ago,” to “Ed Meese? Seriously?”

The Gang of 22 have officially become parodies of themselves. One would have to reach back to the days of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew to lift an adequate quote to describe them.

“Nattering nabobs of negativism,” “vicars of vacillation,” “pusillanimous pussyfooters,” “the decadent few,” “ideological eunuchs,” “the effete corps of impudent snobs,” or “the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history” – take your pick, because they all apply about equally well to each and every one of them.

So clueless is the Gang of 22 they can’t even see how they’ve stumbled right into the narrative Trump’s been communicating so successfully for months. Just like the elected officials from both parties, the Gang of 22 has been GREAT at complaining about stuff, year, after year, after year.

But getting anything accomplished? Not so much.
..........
Many of the Gang of 22 have been hanging around and chattering for decades, and some are active cogs in the Conservative Entertainment Complex, deriving their income by pandering to conservative anger while offering no real solutions.

Donald Trump represents a threat to these ineffectual poohbahs in the same way he represents a threat to do-nothing public officials.
.........
Jealousy is also seriously at work here. Trump is inspiring and exciting a broad spectrum of the country like no member of the Gang of 22 ever has, or ever will.

In just seven months of campaigning, Trump already has more Americans listening to a Republican message than the entire Gang of 22 could muster over decades. Trump understands that before you can advance the ball, you have to convince people to take time from their busy lives to listen. No one on the GOP side since Ronald Reagan has accomplished that like Trump.

No one else has come close, and certainly no one from that “effete corps of impudent snobs” to which the National Review thinks we should defer.

The Gang of 22 had their chance. They’ve done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some
.
But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose.
.........
At the same time when Americans look at Donald Trump’s life they get a lot of assurance that here is finally a man who shares their focus on actually getting results. And Trump returns the respect by recognizing regular hard-working Americans are a lot smarter than any of the “ideological eunuchs” in all of their pontificating glory.

The “pusillanimous pussyfooters” love to nitpick Trump’s words, but what voters are looking for this year is competence and accomplishment. Donald Trump has an actual record of delivering both in spades.
...........
The Gang of 22 is right to be terrified. A President who could get things done would expose them as the irrelevant creatures they truly are.

It can’t happen fast enough."
