CBO says current Obama plans will increase unemployment to 9.1% in 2013

.
9/6/12, "CBO: Under Current Law, Unemployment Will Rise Next Year to 9.1%," CNS News, E. Harringotn

"The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is projecting that if changes in federal taxing-and-spending policies already enacted and set to take effect at the beginning of next year do in fact take place, the unemployment rate will climb to 9.1 percent.

In a report released on Aug. 22, An Update to the Budget and Economic Outlook: Fiscal Years 2012 to 2022, CBO’s baseline projections show that by the fourth quarter of 2013 the national unemployment rate will be 9.1 percent.

The estimate is based on the assumptions that the automatic caps on federal spending mandated under the Budget Control Act will take effect and that the extensions of the Bush-era tax rates enacted in 2010 will also be allowed to expire as they are set to do after Dec. 31."...via Instapundit

Federal supervisors told employees they could be fired if Romney wins

.
9/6/12, "FAA supervisors told employees they could be fired if Republicans win,"
Daily Caller, Bastasch

"On Wednesday, Cause of Action, a government watchdog group, released documents involving two supervisors at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who may have told employees how to vote in order to keep their job in violation of federal law.

CoA revealed that John J. Hickey, deputy associate administrator for aviation safety at the FAA, told employees at a May 23 staff meeting at the Seattle Flight Standards Division Office that “if the Republicans win office our jobs may be effected (furloughs)…if the Democrats win office then our jobs would not be effected [sic],” according to one e-mail.

“Therefore, when Mr. Hickey made the following short summation of comments,” another employee wrote in an e-mail, “‘If a conservative Republican congress is elected we would probably see continued and/or additional budget cuts… If a Democratic congress was elected, thing would probably remain flat.’”"...via Instapundit

Media's deep love for Obama is more like romantic, physical love in their own words, something only the lovers themselves should be hearing

.
9/6/12, "The Media Are Objective. And This ABC Reporter’s Tweet May Leave You Needing a Shower." RedState.com, Jeff Emanuel

"Remember the media’s rush to immediately call out “lies” after last week’s Republican National Convention speeches? Compare the scrutiny (and repetition of Obama campaign tweets and emails) given last week with this tweet from ABC News’s Senior Washington Editor, posted during former president Bill Clinton’s DNC address:

Is there any question why the absurd claim of media “objectivity” is being treated more and more like the badly-delivered joke it is by the American public?

As noted here earlier this week, several media figures have been griping about how frustrating it is to cover the 2012 campaign when their ability to “change the conversation,” or control the narrative and flow of information, is being compromised by alternative media. It is also being compromised by the MSM’s continued insistence on claiming to be both objective and impartial arbiters of truth, when the evidence before Americans’ very eyes screams otherwise.

This morning, Erick posted a thought-provoking discussion of the Democrat–Media “feedback loop.” As he noted:

"The Democrats and most of the mainstream media live in a symbiotic relationship and feedback loop. When Todd Akin says something dumb, the media seizes on it and attacks Todd Akin and the GOP. For the past several weeks the media has fixated on how out of touch the GOP is, its platform is, and its Presidential candidate is.

At the same time, the media has been largely silent on the Democratic Platform except for yesterday’s ridiculousness. Even then, the media mostly failed to point out that the Obama campaign said it had approved the platform removing God and Jerusalem, while going to great lengths to point out Obama intervened to put them back in.

Meanwhile, the Democrats booed God and his holy city the day after claiming we all belong the government as if it is some sort of Rotary Club.

This becomes the fatal problem for the Democrats — the media reinforces that the Democrats are grounded in reality and connected to America

when they are not."

Add to that a media complex that is hell-bent on convincing itself that it is still in touch, relevant, impartial, and in control, and you have a recipe for disaster on both fronts – for the MSM and for the Democratic Party."

NBC's Chuck Todd speaks of "passion" and "emotion" for Obama:

9/5/12, "Chuck Todd: 'Michelle Obama Owned This Convention In a Way No Speaker' Did in Tampa," NewsBusters, Noel Sheppard

""You could watch the emotional connection from the delegates to the first lady,” he continued. “It was very powerful to watch, and it’s got to be something the Democrats have to feel good about the way just how much passion there is for the President here.”"...

'Top Republican' tells media that GOP will OK tax increases for Obama

.
The 'top Republican' didn't mention Obama hasn't passed a single budget in his 4 yrs. including the first two years when he had massive majorities and could've passed anything.

8/31/12, "Top Senate Republican Says Lame Duck Solutions Unlikely,"
National Journal, C. Frates

"Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander told the Alley Thursday that Congress will need to use the lame duck to create a window next year in which to deal with the fiscal cliff....

And he signaled that the GOP may be ready to wheel and deal.

"Almost every Republican leader I know in the Congress has made it clear that while they don't think we need more revenues that if the Democrats are willing to restructure entitlements, they're willing to provide new revenues," he said." via RedState.com

'GOP strategist' Castellanos says Bill Clinton speech re-elected Obama

.
9/5/12, "Alex Castellanos, GOP Strategist: Clinton Speech Was 'Moment That Probably Reelected Obama' (VIDEO)," Huffington Post, S. Stein

"Some conservatives didn't bother with that. Appearing on CNN shortly after Clinton finished, Alex Castellanos, a longtime cable commentator and former aide to Mitt Romney, spoke in awe of the 42nd president's address.

"I would recommend to my friend Paul [Begala] here, tonight when everybody leaves, lock the doors. You don't have to come back tomorrow. This convention is done," Castellanos said. "This will be the moment that probably reelected Barack Obama. Bill Clinton saved the Democratic Party once, it was going too far left, he came in, the new Democrats took it to the center. He did it again tonight."

This is a classic cable news overstatement. Certainly a bit more time is needed before declaring the convention over, let alone the election. But the comment still underscores the advantage the Democrats have in being able to trot out a former president to help with the sell."...via Rush Limbaugh

Fewer people are working now than when Obama took office at height of recession-CNN

.
9/5/12, "CNN Fact Check: About those 4.5 million jobs ...," CNN staff

"Conclusion"

"The figure of 4.5 million jobs is accurate if you look at the most favorable period and category for the administration. But overall, there are still fewer people working now than when Obama took office at the height of the recession."

Democrat lobbyists are on hand to help nominate Obama, some senior dem. party officials are former lobbyists

.
"Some lobbyists worked their way up to the senior levels of Democratic state parties and were selected for a trip to Charlotte."

9/5/12, "Lobbyists to help nominate Obama for reelection in Charlotte'," The Hill, K. Bogardus

"Despite President Obama’s harsh rhetoric toward K Street, lobbyists will be on the convention floor as delegates in Charlotte Wednesday when he is nominated for a second term.

That lobbyists will help nominate the president for reelection is a delicious irony, considering Obama’s moves to keep his distance from the influence industry. Neither his campaign nor the Democratic convention accepts political contributions from lobbyists; lobbyists can’t raise funds for the president; and the Obama administration has banned them from serving on federal advisory committees.

But lobbyists remain a vital cog in the Democratic Party machine, and a number of them are serving as delegates at this week’s convention. Some lobbyists worked their way up to the senior levels of Democratic state parties and were selected for a trip to Charlotte.

One lobbyist-turned-delegate said the president’s restrictions on K Street have been “inconsistent.”

“I disagree with the president on this,” Harold Ickes said. “He doesn't bring in the lobbyists but he brings in the corporate titans and talks to them. ... It's totally inconsistent, but if the president wants to do this, he can. Fine with me.”

Ickes is serving as a delegate for District of Columbia in Charlotte, and was first a delegate at the 1988 Democratic convention.

A long-time Democratic strategist, Ickes was an adviser to then-New York Sen. Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign and helped handle delegate counting. He is chairman of The Ickes & Enright Group, a lobby firm that has made $730,000 in lobbying fees so far this year, according to lobbying disclosure records."...via Instapundit
