Chicago murder rate up 84% in 2016 to date over 2015. 125 murders, 575 shootings in 2016. Only 68 murders, 290 shootings in 2015. Third Chicago police chief in 4 months-BBC

.
3/30/16, "Eddie Johnson: Chicago new police chief to face 84% murder rate increase," BBC

"Chicago's troubled police force has a new boss, as new figures show the city's murder rate up 84% in the first months of 2016 compared with last year.

Police veteran Eddie Johnson, the new interim police chief, is the third superintendent to lead the department in less than four months.

He takes office following public anger over the shooting of black teenager Laquan McDonald by a white officer.

However, violent crime is reportedly below levels of two decades ago.

According to the crime figures on the police department's website, there were 575 shootings and 125 murders in 2016 until 20 March. In the same period last year there were 290 shootings and 68 murders in the city, which has long been troubled by violence.

Despite the spike, this year's numbers are below those of the early 1990s, when Chicago faced a crack epidemic and the homicide rate was around 900, a report suggested.

Nevertheless, a group of churches celebrated that Easter Sunday saw no homicides in the city, with one religious leader calling it "an amazing gift".

Mr Johnson, a 55-year-old African-American who has been with the police for 27 years, replaces Garry McCarthy, who quit amid the furore surrounding the McDonald case.

The shooting sparked days of protests and led the US Justice Department to open an investigation into Chicago police shootings.

McDonald, who was 17 at the time, was armed with a knife when he was stopped by police in 2014. He was shot 16 times.

Reacting to his nomination on Monday, Mr Johnson said he would address what he described as a trust issue.

"It is the central challenge facing Chicago today. I know that...trust has been broken too often, not just in Chicago but across America where abusive police practices have occurred," he told a news conference."

National Border Patrol Council endorses Donald Trump for President, first time in history it has endorsed in a presidential primary. America deserves a leader who puts America first, current political establishment has bled this country dry-press release, 3/30/16

.
3/30/16, " bpunion.com, Tucson, Arizona

"The National Border Patrol Council is the official organization representing our nation’s Border Patrol Agents. We represent 16,500 agents who selflessly serve this country in an environment where our own political leaders try to keep us from doing our jobs.

The NBPC has had a longstanding practice of not endorsing presidential candidates in the primaries. We will not, however, shy away from voicing our opinions as it pertains to border security and the men and women of the United States Border Patrol. As such, we are breaking with our past practice and giving our first-ever endorsement in a presidential primary. We think it is that important: if we do not secure our borders, American communities will continue to suffer at the hands of gangs, cartels and violent criminals preying on the innocent. The lives and security of the American people are at stake, and the National Border Patrol Council will not sit on the sidelines.

As an organization we expect our elected officials to aggressively pursue the interests of the country. America has already tried a young, articulate freshman senator who never created a job as an attorney and under whose watch criminal cartels have been given the freest border reign ever known.

Unlike his opponents, Donald Trump is not a career politician, he is an outsider who has created thousands of jobs, pledged to bring about aggressive pro-American change, and who is completely independent of special interests. We don't need a person who has the perfect Washington-approved tone, and certainly NOT another establishment politician in the W.H. Indeed, the fact that people are more upset about Mr. Trump’s tone than about the destruction wrought by open borders tells us everything we need to know about the corruption in Washington.

We need a person in the White House who doesn't fear the media, who doesn't embrace political correctness, who doesn't need the money, who is familiar with success, who won't bow to foreign dictators, who is pro-military and values law enforcement, and who is angry for America and NOT subservient to the interests of other nations. Donald Trump is such a man.

Mr. Trump is as bold and outspoken as other world leaders who put their country's interests ahead of all else. Americans deserve to benefit for once instead of always paying and apologizing. Our current political establishment has bled this country dry, sees their power evaporating, and isn't listening to voters who do all the heavy lifting. Trump is opposed by the established powers specifically because they know he is the only candidate who actually threatens the established powers that have betrayed this country.

You can judge a man by his opponents: all the people responsible for the problems plaguing America today are opposing Mr. Trump.

It is those without political power – the workers, the law enforcement officers, the everyday families and community members – who are supporting Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump will take on special interests and embrace the ideas of rank-and-file Border Patrol agents rather than listening to the management yes-men who say whatever they are programmed to say. This is a refreshing change that we have not seen before – and may never see again.

Mr. Trump is correct when he says immigration wouldn’t be at the forefront of this presidential campaign if months ago he hadn’t made some bold and necessary statements. And when the withering media storm ensued he did not back down one iota. That tells you the measure of a man. When the so-called experts said he was too brash and outspoken, and that he would fade away, they were proven wrong. We are confident they will be proven wrong again in November when he becomes President of the United States.

There is no greater physical or economic threat to Americans today than our open border. And there is no greater political threat than the control of Washington by special interests. In view of these threats, the National Border Patrol Council endorses Donald J. Trump for Presidentand asks the American people to support Mr. Trump in his mission to finally secure the border of the United States of America, before it is too late."

Rep. Paul Ryan Gets A Primary Challenge in Wisconsin from Businessman Paul Nehlen-and with it our full support-tcth, sundance

.
3/30/16, "Paul Ryan Gets A Primary Challenge from Businessman Paul Nehlen…" tcth, sundance

"And with it, our full support! I doubt there is a more succinct example of what is wrong within the entire corrupted body politic than to see Mr. No-Budget/Omnibus House Speaker Paul Ryan give a speech at CPAC and attendees giving him a standing ovation. If that represents “modern conservatism” the entire definition is askew, I don’t want such an affiliation....

Are you aware our Republican house and Senate no longer keep track of the national debt? If not, why not? Getting caught up on definitions of “torture” maybe. Or was it the confederate flag that made you stop paying attention.

President Obama is the first president in U.S. history to go through his entire presidency (two terms) without a federal budget on entry, or a federal budget on exit. Obama has NEVER had a single day in office with a federal budget.

Yet conservatives stood up at CPAC and gave Speaker of the House Paul Ryan a standing ovation. THINK ABOUT THAT!

That’s “Battered Conservative Syndrome”.

They want you, me, us, focused on ridiculous smaller-albeit important- but far less significant issues, like defunding planned parenthood, etc. Meanwhile, those same leaders passed a $2+ Trillion Omnibus, and wiped out the federal debt ceiling.

Those same congressional leaders voted to approve a $1 trillion spending bill (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act), or Stimulus”, which has been spent seven consecutive times, in seven consecutive fiscal years, because of the absence of a budget, and the baseline budgetary approach to spending....

Obamacare, yes ObamaCare, is being carried with these funds so the “battered conservatives” don’t actually identify the economic impact of said ObamaCare. Yes, that means, in essence, that hundreds of billions, maybe trillions, were delivered directly to insurance companies via programs like the risk corridor guarantees, etc. Nice trick eh?

Of course you would find out if they had to use a normal budgetary process. But they don’t. So you didn’t. See how that works?...

We are fighting the UniParty."...

1942 movie Yankee Doodle Dandy and song, 'Over There,' popularized notion of Americans on call as global fixers, cheerfully ready to die for others: 'The Yanks are coming, the Yanks are coming.' In 2016, Americans seek to focus first on their own country

.

"Over There," was written by George M. Cohan in 1917 after hearing the US was going to fight a war in Europe, now known as World War I. Mr. Cohan viewed Americans crossing the Atlantic Ocean to fight and die in a foreign war as deeply patriotic. The song earned Mr. Cohan a Congressional Gold Medal in 1936.  In 1942, his view of American duty was further immortalized in the movie, Yankee Doodle Dandy. Above excerpt of  'Over There' lyrics from You Tube.

"These are some of the words to the George M Cohan song published in 1917. The very patriotic song was written, I expect, to instill pride in a nation that was going to war by joining the fight in Europe....

Ninety years ago, it seemed like a good idea to fight and die “over there.”"...

""Over There" was an instant success, selling over two million copies by the end of the war. Perhaps the most popular version of "Over There" was sung by Nora Bayes, but Enrico Caruso and Billy Murray also sang beautiful renditions.

The song "Over There" is about the "Yanks" (i.e. Americans) going "over there" (i.e. across the Atlantic) to help fight the "Huns" (i.e. the Germans) during World War I.

In 1936, Cohan was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for writing the song."...

Comment: Endless wars and activities "Over There," ie, anywhere but here, are the only ones on which Americans have been allowed to focus. The current notion of US as global fixer is of course insane. The idea that Americans might be allowed to care first about their own country has been considered scandalous.

(parag 9): "Mr. Trump’s views, as he explained them, fit nowhere into the recent history of the Republican Party: He is not in the internationalist camp of President George Bush, nor does he favor President George W. Bush’s call to make it the United States’ mission to spread democracy around the world. He agreed with a suggestion that his ideas might be summed up as “America First.”

Not isolationist, but I am America First,” he said. “I like the expression.” He said he was willing to reconsider traditional American alliances if partners were not willing to pay, in cash or troop commitments, for the presence of American forces around the world. “We will not be ripped off anymore,” he said."...

(parag. 1): "Donald J. Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, said that if elected, he might halt purchases of oil from Saudi Arabia and other Arab allies unless they commit ground troops to the fight against the Islamic State or “substantially reimburse” the United States for combating the militant group, which threatens their stability.

If Saudi Arabia was without the cloak of American protection,Mr. Trump said during a 100-minute interview on foreign policy, spread over two phone calls on Friday, “I don’t think it would be around.”

He also said he would be open to allowing Japan and South Korea to build their own nuclear arsenals rather than depend on the American nuclear umbrella for their protection against North Korea and China. If the United States “keeps on its path, its current path of weakness, they’re going to want to have that anyway, with or without me discussing it,” Mr. Trump said.

And he said he would be willing to withdraw United States forces from both Japan and South Korea if they did not substantially increase their contributions to the costs of housing and feeding those troops. “Not happily, but the answer is yes,” he said."...

(parag. 7): "Mr. Trump struck similar themes when he discussed the future of NATO, which he called “unfair, economically, to us,” and said he was open to an alternative organization focused on counterterrorism. He argued that the best way to halt China’s placement of military airfields and antiaircraft batteries on reclaimed islands in the South China Sea was to threaten its access to American markets."...

(parag. 25): "Throughout the two conversations, Mr. Trump painted a bleak picture of the United States as a diminished force in the world, an opinion he has held since the late 1980s, when he placed ads in The New York Times and other newspapers calling for Japan and Saudi Arabia to spend more money on their own defense."...

13 Detroit Public School officials charged with taking bribes 2002-2015. One implicated is principal of school recently tapped by Ellen DeGeneres to receive half million dollars in donations for supplies and repairs-CNN

.
3/29/16, "Bribery charges against 13 Detroit principals a 'punch in the gut'," CNN, Dana Ford

"Thirteen current or former principals with the Detroit Public Schools system were charged with bribery Tuesday in an alleged kickback scheme, which couldn't have come at a worse time for the troubled school district.

In addition, a DPS vendor--identified as Norman Shy, 74, owner of Allstate Sales--was charged. He is accused of being at the center of the criminal activity.
............
Chairs. Teaching materials. Paper. The very things that students need to learn and schools need to function remained, frustratingly, out of reach.
............
But at the same time the school district cried poor, principals are accused of having lined their personal pockets.
...............
"To hear this is just another slap in the face," DPS parent John Wills told CNN affiliate WDIV. "We've been robbed blind."
...........
Shy allegedly paid the principals a total of $900,000. In exchange, he received payments from the school system for $5 million, of which officials believe $2.7 million was fraudulent
............
The bribery is said to have started in 2002 and continued until January 2015.
............
"The real victims in a case like this, of course, are the students and the families who attend Detroit Public Schools -- the teachers, the educators who really want to make a difference in the lives of Detroit Public School children," said U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan Barbara McQuade.
...............
"A case like this is a real punch in the gut for those who are trying to do the right thing."
...............
Of the 13 Detroit Public School officials charged, seven are former school principals; six are still working in that capacity. One of the former principals is now an assistant superintendent.
Included among those implicated is Ronald Alexander, principal of Spain Elementary-Middle School. His alleged involvement is notable because the school was recently tapped by Ellen DeGeneres to receive half a million dollars in donations.
............
The talk show host announced that the Lowe's chain of home-improvement stores would donate $500,000 toward repairing the school, including $50,000 in new computers and a $100 Visa gift card to every teacher and staff member.

CNN toured Spain Elementary-Middle School before DeGeneres stepped in, and to say the conditions there were lacking is an understatement.
.............
Children played in the hallway because the gym floor was warped from rain damage and torn up on one side. Clouds of steam poured into the playground, making that area unsafe, too.
...........
One teacher complained of mice, roaches and bedbugs. The school nurse considered the impact on students' health, saying dry air in the building and changes in temperature were making the students sick.
...............
"I cannot overstate the outrage that I feel about the conduct that these DPS employees engaged in that led to these charges," Detroit Public Schools Transition Manager Judge Steven Rhodes said in a statement Tuesday, after the charges against the principals were made public....
..................
He announced a series of immediate changes to help ensure that such conduct is not repeated. They include the suspension of all purchases by individual schools, a review of all school-based vendor contracts and the recruitment of an independent auditor. Detroit Public Schools suspended business with Shy and all of his companies.
...............
McQuade recognized during her news conference that accusations of public corruption never come at a good time. Still, it's coming at a particularly bad time for Detroit Public Schools. In addition to dealing with poor conditions at its schools, the system is hundreds of millions of dollars in debt and being sued by the union.
...................
This month, there were threats of a sickout. Although it didn't materialize, a sickout is a way for teachers to protest working conditions, dilapidated facilities and inadequate funding....The school system was previously under the supervision of an emergency manager appointed by (Michigan Gov.) Snyder, Darnell Earley.

Earley, who was also Flint's emergency manager from 2013 to 2015, resigned last month.
.................
McQuade said Tuesday that if there is a message to be taken from the kickback case, she hopes it will be one of accountability."...

Cuba tourism industry dominated by large foreign corporations taking for granted billion dollar profits, former Cuba Pres. Fidel Castro says-Reuters

.
Cuba tourism industry was "dominated by large foreign corporations which took for granted billion-dollar profits," former Cuba Pres. Fidel Castro said in his article.

3/28/16, "Cuba’s Fidel Castro knocks sweet-talking Obama after ‘honey-coated’ visit," Reuters, Mark Frank, Havana

"Retired leader Fidel Castro accused U.S. President Barack Obama of sweet-talking the Cuban people during his visit to the island last week and ignoring the accomplishments of Communist rule, in an opinion piece carried by all state-run media on Monday....

“One assumes that every one of us ran the risk of a heart attack listening to these words,” Castro said in his column, dismissing Obama’s comments as “honey-coated” and reminding Cubans of the many U.S. efforts to overthrow and weaken the Communist government.

Castro, 89, laced his opinion piece with nationalist sentiment and, bristling at Obama’s offer to help Cuba, said the country was able to produce the food and material riches it needs with the efforts of its people....

Castro also took aim at the tourism industry in Cuba, which has grown further since Obama’s rapprochement with Raul Castro in December 2014. He said it was dominated by large foreign corporations which took for granted billion-dollar profits." (end of article)

Ripoff and global humiliation of US taxpayers continue as US political class forces us to pay for both 'sides' in Syria war. CIA and Pentagon backed 'forces' fire at each other, 'experts' say will continue and is 'inevitable'-LA Times, 3/27/16

.
One of US 'sides' gave US taxpayer provided weapons to Al Qaeda group:

3/27/16, "In Syria, militias armed by the Pentagon fight those armed by the CIA," LA Times, , W.J. Hennigan and Brian Bennett

"Syrian militias armed by different parts of the U.S. war machine have begun to fight each other on the plains between the besieged city of Aleppo and the Turkish border, highlighting how little control U.S. intelligence officers and military planners have over the groups they have financed and trained in the bitter five-year-old civil war.

The fighting has intensified over the last two months, as CIA-armed units and Pentagon-armed ones have repeatedly shot at each other while maneuvering through contested territory on the northern outskirts of Aleppo, U.S. officials and rebel leaders have confirmed.

In mid-February, a CIA-armed militia called Fursan al Haq, or Knights of Righteousness, was run out of the town of Marea, about 20 miles north of Aleppo, by Pentagon-backed Syrian Democratic Forces moving in from Kurdish-controlled areas to the east....

The attacks by one U.S.-backed group against another come amid continued heavy fighting in Syria and illustrate the difficulty facing U.S. efforts to coordinate among dozens of armed groups that are trying to overthrow the government of President Bashar Assad, fight the Islamic State militant group and battle one another all at the same time.

“It is an enormous challenge,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, who described the clashes between U.S.-supported groups as “a fairly new phenomenon.”

“It is part of the three-dimensional chess that is the Syrian battlefield,” he said....

President Obama this month authorized a new Pentagon plan to train and arm Syrian rebel fighters, relaunching a program that was suspended in the fall after a string of embarrassing setbacks which included recruits being ambushed and handing over much of their U.S.-issued ammunition and trucks to an Al Qaeda affiliate....

The CIA, meanwhile, has its own operations center inside Turkey from which it has been directing aid to rebel groups in Syria, providing them with TOW antitank missiles from Saudi Arabian weapons stockpiles.

While the Pentagon's actions are part of an overt effort by the U.S. and its allies against Islamic State, the CIA's backing of militias is part of a separate covert U.S. effort
aimed at keeping pressure on the Assad government in hopes of prodding the Syrian leader to the negotiating table....

“Fighting over territory in Aleppo demonstrates how difficult it is for the U.S. to manage these really localized and in some cases entrenched conflicts,” said Nicholas A. Heras, an expert on the Syrian civil war at the Center for a New American Security, a think tank in Washington. “Preventing clashes is one of the constant topics in the joint operations room with Turkey.”...

The clashes brought the U.S. and Turkish officials to “loggerheads,” he added. After diplomatic pressure from the U.S., the militia withdrew to the outskirts of the town as a sign of good faith, he said.

But continued fighting among different U.S.-backed groups may be inevitable, experts on the region said.

“Once they cross the border into Syria, you lose a substantial amount of control or ability to control their actions,” Jeffrey White, a former Defense Intelligence Agency official, said in a telephone interview. You certainly have the potential for it becoming a larger problem as people fight for territory and control of the northern border area in Aleppo.”" map, LA Times Graphics

Trump beats Romney in hypothetical contest, Zogby national poll, March 18-21, 2016. Trump won among Republicans with college degrees, conservative and moderate Republicans, Catholics, Prostestants, Evangelicals, and armed forces members. Romney won category of liberal Republicans-Zogby

.
March 18-21, 2016 online poll, 573 Republican voters nationwide, 4.2 error margin

3/25/16, "NEW POLL SHOWS REPUBLICANS THINK DONALD TRUMP IS THE BEST FIT FOR THEIR PARTY," Zogby Analytics, Austin, Texas

"NEW O'LEARY REPORT POLL RELEASED: A new poll shows that Republicans nationwide prefer Donald Trump as their candidate for president over Mitt Romney."

"The O'Leary Report, who for twenty years has done State of the Union polling with Zogby Analytics, wanted a poll on the question, "What happens if Trump is stopped at the Republican National Convention and the establishment airlifts in a consensus candidate to run in the November general election?"

After talking to a number of "establishment" leaders, we determined that most thought Mitt Romney would be the likely choice.

Many felt that Romney would be acceptable to most state delegations because he won the 2012 Republican nomination, and because of his recent activity which includes

1) going on national television, urging Republicans not to vote for Donald Trump;
2) having endorsed Marco Rubio in Florida, which would give him acceptability to Rubio delegates,
3) having done robo-calls for Governor Kasich and Senator Cruz in Ohio,
4) having voted for and endorsed Senator Cruz in the Utah caucus.

We then chose to have Zogby Analytics do an online survey of 573 Republican voters nationwide with a margin of error +/-4.2 percentage points. The poll ran between March 18-21, 2016. The question was "If the election for President was being held today, and the candidates were Donald Trump and Mitt Romney, for whom would you vote?"

We asked the question this way to make it more generic rather than get in to the complexities of an open national Republican convention.

50% of Republicans chose Donald Trump while 37% chose Mitt Romney, and 13% indicated they were unsure.

Trump clearly won with males 56/33%. With females, his margin was closer 44/42%.

He also carried retired Republicans 59/32%, and

won in every age group from 18-65+, including among parents 53/36%.

Trump lost among those Republicans who are liberal 29/46%, but carried moderates and conservatives.

He also carried Republicans with college degrees by 48/41% and those with no college degrees by 52/34%.

Trump carried Catholics by a 55/37% margin, Protestants by a 50/38% margin and Evangelicals by a 48/39% margin. Trump also beat Romney in five of the seven household income classes, from less than $25K-$150K+ (Romney wins among those who earn between $35-50K and $75-100K annually). Trump won among NASCAR fans 54/35% and Tea Party supporters 55/37%.

Trump also carried Republicans who are members of the National Rifle Association by a 63/33% margin. Romney had a problem carrying and getting out the vote among NRA members in the 2012 election. In comparison, Trump, who is a gun owner and concealed carrier, has a strong second amendment platform in 2016 and looks to fare much better with gun owners.

Trump carried members of the armed forces by 57/36%.

It's clear to us from these margins that Romney, who might have more support than any other candidate, does not have the support needed to unify the Republican Party.

Genocide doesn't necessarily mean immediate destruction of a nation. Rather, is a coordinated plan of different actions aimed at destruction of essential foundations of life of national groups, the object being disintegration of culture, language, national feelings-Raphael Lemkin, inventor of term genocide, via Genocide Watch

.
Ongoing today in the US and Europe:

"What is Genocide?" by Gregory H. Stanton, President, Genocide Watch, 2002

"The crime of genocide is defined in international law in the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide....
Raphael Lemkin Defines Genocide
Raphael Lemkin in his masterpiece “Axis Rule in Occupied Europe” (1943) invented the term “genocide,”by combining “genos” (race, people) and “cide” (to kill).
Lemkin defined genocide as follows:Generally speaking, genocide does not necessarily mean the immediate destruction of a nation, except when accomplished by mass killings of all members of a nation. It is intended rather to signify a coordinated plan of different actions aiming at the destruction of essential foundations of the life of national groups, with the aim of annihilating the groups themselves. The objectives of such a plan would be the disintegration of the political and social institutions, of culture, language, national feelings, religion, and the economic existence of national groups, and the destruction of the personal security, liberty, health, dignity, and even the lives of the individuals belonging to such groups.”
When Lemkin proposed a treaty against genocide to the United Nations in 1945, he defined it as follows:
“The crime of genocide should be recognized therein as a conspiracy to exterminate national, religious or racial groups. The overt acts of such a conspiracy may consist of attacks against life, liberty or property of members of such groups merely because of their affiliation with such groups. The formulation of the crime may be as follows:

“Whoever, while participating in a conspiracy to destroy a national, racial or religious group, undertakes an attack against life, liberty or property of members of such groups is guilty of the crime of genocide.”"

Comment: To stop ongoing genocide of America and Americans, the US political class must agree to close our borders, which they'll never do. They've worked for decades to radically change the population and culture of the US. And you're a racist xenophobe if you don't like it. Wall St. Journal wants to hurry things up:

In 1984, the Wall St. Journal called for open US borders:

"If Washington still wants to "do something" about immigration, we propose a five-word constitutional amendment: There shall be open borders."...

Only one person heard us:

"A nation without borders is not a nation." Donald J. Trump

8/16/15, "Immigration Reform That Will Make America Great Again," Donald J. Trump

"The three core principles of Donald J. Trump's immigration plan"

"When politicians talk about “immigration reform” they mean: amnesty, cheap labor and open borders. The Schumer-Rubio immigration bill was nothing more than a giveaway to the corporate patrons who run both parties.

Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first-not wealthy globetrotting donors. We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own. That must change. Here are the three core principles of real immigration reform:

1. A nation without borders is not a nation. There must be a wall across the southern border.
2. A nation without laws is not a nation. Laws passed in accordance with our Constitutional system of government must be enforced.
3. A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Any immigration plan must improve jobs, wages and security for all Americans."...

Half of US Muslim population growth from 2010 to 2015 was via immigration. As of 2015, 3.3 million Muslims live in the US-Pew Research, published Jan. 2016

.
"Just over half of the projected growth of the American Muslim populations from 2010 to 2015 is due to immigration."

1/9/16, "A new estimate of the U.S. Muslim population," Pew Research, FactTank, by Besheer Mohamed

"Pew Research Center estimates that there were about 3.3 million Muslims of all ages living in the United States in 2015. This means that Muslims made up about 1% of the total U.S. population (about 322 million people in 2015), and we estimate that that share will double by 2050.

Our new estimate of Muslims and other faiths is based on a demographic projection that models growth in the American Muslim population since our 2011 estimate and includes both adults and children. The projection uses data on age, fertility, mortality, migration and religious switching drawn from multiple sources, including the 2011 survey of Muslim Americans....

In some cities Muslims comprise significantly more than 1% of the community. And even at the state level Muslims are not evenly distributed: Certain states, such as New Jersey, have two or three times as many Muslim adults per capita as the national average....

The U.S. Census Bureau does not ask questions about religion, meaning that there is no official government count of the U.S. Muslim population.

Since our first estimate of the size of the Muslim American population in 2007, we have seen a steady growth in both the number of Muslims in the U.S. and the percentage of the U.S. population that is Muslim.

In addition, our projections suggest the U.S. Muslim population will grow faster than the Hindu population and much faster than the Jewish population in the coming decades. Indeed, even before 2040, Muslims are projected to become the second-largest religious group in the U.S., after Christians. By 2050, the American Muslim population is projected to reach 8.1 million people, or 2.1% of the total population.

Just over half of the projected growth of the American Muslim populations from 2010 to 2015 is due to immigration. Over the last 20 years, there has been an increase in the number of Muslim immigrants coming to the U.S. The number of Muslim immigrants currently represents about 10% of all legal immigrants arriving in the U.S., and a significantly smaller percentage of unauthorized immigrants.

The other main cause of Islam’s recent growth is natural increase. American Muslims tend to have more children than Americans of other religious faiths. Muslims also tend to be younger than the general public, so a larger share of Muslims will soon be at the point in their lives when people begin having children."...

Donald Trump reveals inner statesman at his March 21 address to AIPAC, predictably terrifying his naysayers-Charles Hurt, Washington Times

.
"Donald J. Trump Remarks at AIPAC," 3/21/16
................
3/22/16, "Donald Trump reveals inner statesman, terrifies naysayers," Charles Hurt, Washington Times, analysis/opinion

"The race is over. Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States.

History will record the moment the tough-talking media and marketing genius sealed the deal as the evening of Monday and the dawn of Tuesday during this Holy Week.

Over a short, intense few hours of momentous world events, Donald Trump revealed that not only does he understand the grave threats that free and civilized people face, but also that he has the wisdom and temperament to be leader of the free world.

Mr. Trump’s address to American Israel Public Affairs Committee Monday night was thoughtful and considered. It was not one of his rambling ad-lib campaign speeches, which are enormously entertaining for supporters but maddening for people trying to piece together his specific policy positions.

At AIPAC, Mr. Trump laid out a clear and concise vision about the threats we and our allies face from the terror and hatred spewing from Islamic radicals in the Middle East. The speech was highly-informed and clearly influenced by the smart people he is listening to around him.

It was one of his first speeches delivered to an audience that wasn’t filled with Republican Party faithful. It was his first major address of the general election. And he aced it.

The speech was downright thrilling at moments.

“When you live in a society where the firefighters are the heroes, little kids want to be firefighters,” he said. “When you live in a society where athletes and movie stars are heroes, little kids want to be athletes and movie stars.”

“You cannot achieve peace if terrorists are treated as martyrs. Glorifying terrorists is a tremendous barrier to peace.”

In short, the speech terrified people who have at every step of the way been so eager to dismiss Mr. Trump as a ridiculous buffoon. Even better, the speech terrified Democrats.

Seven months of Mr. Trump giving speeches like that will erase this notion that he is some kind of carnival barker. After seven months of this kind of measured, presidential campaigning, Republicans will be happily unified behind a statesmanlike leader and ready to support him against a lying, dissembling, washed-up politician who has a remarkable career of failure on the world stage.

Just a few hours after Mr. Trump finished speaking to AIPAC, terrorist bombs detonated inside the airport and subway in Brussels, Belgium, the very heart of Europe. The deadly terror strike continues the unyielding radical Islamic jihadi war on Europe, America, Christians, Jews and all modern, civilized people.

Since Day One of his campaign, Donald Trump has been laser-focused on this threat, including the desperate need to finally get control of our borders. His speech to AIPAC was only the latest, most presidential, proof of that.

In November, Mr. Trump will face a lifelong politician who is so disengaged from the threat of terrorism that she will not even speak its name, for fear of offending someone."...

Ted Cruz is now the Establishment GOP, Washington Cartel candidate. Cruz personally invited open borders finance team of Bush Cartel to help him. Jeb Bush, Neil Bush, Lindsey Graham, and Romney all now support Cruz though don't want him to win, just backing him to stop Trump--Washington Post, Cillizza

.
Cruz himself selected Bush Cartel open borders finance team. Illegal immigrants favored by the rich "comprise a quasi-slave labor force that has corrupted the soul of American society."

3/23/16, "Ted Cruz is the Republican establishment candidate. That’s absolutely insane." Washington Post, Chris Cillizza

"If I told you at the start of the 2016 race that Mitt Romney would vote for Ted Cruz in the Utah caucuses and that Jeb Bush, [Neil Bush], and Lindsey Graham would endorse the Texas senator's presidential campaign, you would have laughed. Probably loudly.

Cruz was--and is--hated by the Republican Party establishment, who view him as a grandstander with little interest in any of the niceties of politics. Cruz is the guy who doesn't play well with others, and whom others dislike--a lot--for that unwillingness to go along to get along.

And yet, here we are. All of those things have come to pass with Bush's endorsement -- he called Cruz a "consistent, principled conservative" in a Facebook post Wednesday morning -- the latest domino to fall. What is now beyond dispute is that Ted Cruz, the most hated man in Washington Republican circles, is the establishment GOP candidate in the presidential race. As Cruz put it this morning in an appearance on CNN: "If you think about it, in the last 10 days we've been endorsed by Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Mike Lee and Mark Levin [and recently by Neil Bush and Lindsey Graham].. I mean, you want to talk about a broad coalition [that is] ideologically diverse? That covers the entire spectrum of the Republican Party."...

Don't mistake the establishment's rallying behind Cruz as genuine support for either the man or his ideas. There is a roughly zero percent chance that Jeb Bush, for instance, thinks Ted Cruz is a great pick to be the Republican nominee or would be a great president. He doesn't. Neither does Romney. And you know Lindsey Graham doesn't. The lining-up behind Cruz is solely aimed at trying to stop Trump from getting to 1,237 delegates before the Republican National Convention.

What the establishment hopes will happen then is not that Cruz will become the nominee -- remember, they still don't like him -- but that the Texas Republican, having served his purpose by keeping it from Trump, will be replaced by a more palatable alternative like, say, Kasich. Of course, this is the most wishful of thinking since it's virtually impossible to imagine that the convention delegates will pass over not only the candidate with the most delegates but also the candidate with the second-most delegates in order to pick someone who may only win a single state in the primary and caucus process.

So, there's that. But, for the next 76 days -- a.k.a. between now and the June 7 California vote that ends the primary process -- Cruz holds the hopes of the entire establishment in his hands. That's a sentence I never, ever, ever thought I would write, and it provides further proof that 2016 is the front-runner right now for the title of weirdest and most unpredictable election ever."

..........................

Cruz personally invited Bush Cartel open borders advocates to join his finance team:

3/10/16, "The Post-Constitutional Election, Pt. 10: What Does Bush, Inc. Bring Besides Money?" DianaWest.net

"Just when we thought our fellow Americans, voting in droves in the early primaries not for Jeb Bush, had prevailed through the ballot box against the rigged wheels and multi-millions of the permanent insiders of Bush, Inc., we find that Jeb Bush's finance committee has attached itself, leech-like, to "outsider" Ted Cruz. And vice-versa.

On March 3, eight former members of the Jeb! team joined the Cruz campaign:

Paul Dickerson of Houston, TX
Boyden Gray of Washington, DC
Charles Foster of Houston, TX
Reginald J. Brown of Washington, DC
Paula and Jim Henry of Midland, TX
Nancy and Randy Best of Dallas, TX.

If there was any doubt that the Bushes were back on the trail, five days lateralong came Neil, the Silverado-Asian-call-girl-Billy-Carter-by-way-of-Kennebunkport-bad-news-bailout-brother of Jeb and George W., who once upon a time found himself in the semiconductor business with the son of the former dictator of China, Jiang Zemin. Now he occupies a top slot in the Cruz organization.

Why would Cruz do this to himself, and his supporters?
............
Dickerson, Gray, and Brown are all former Bush administration officials, either 41 or 43, or both. Dickeron was at Bush 43's commerce and energy departments; Gray was Bush 41's legal counsel, an ambassador for 43; Brown, a counsel for Bush 43.

So much for "Ted Cruz, Outsider," a guise -- a political ruse, as compellingly argued at Conservative Treehouse -- that was always an extremely long stretch for someone who earned his spurs inside the Bush legal team during the 2000 Florida recount; who worked closely in 2000 with Houston immigration lawyer Charles Foster to craft Candidate Bush 43's pro-immigration/legalizing-aliens overhaul, and whose wife, Heidi Cruz, famously on leave from "outsider" bank Goldman Sachs, would go on to work for key globalists Robert Zoellick (Bush 43's fast track booster) and Condoleeza Rice (Bush 43's SPP booster), while co-authoring, as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a blueprint for "North American Union." And yes, it matters. Particularly when Cruz is a Canada-born presidential candidate who insists he's both "natural born" and a constitutional originalist. Smoke and mirrors seems to be this couple's chosen decor.

My question today, though, is this: What does Bush, Inc. bring to the Cruz campaign besides money?

Consider the man midway down the new Jeb-to-Ted finance committee list, Houston immigration lawyer Charles Foster. Foster is a Bush loyalist to the hilt, whose Wiki page tells us he "initiated and co-chaired" Houston monuments to George H.W. Bush and James Baker both; and, as noted above, worked closely with Cruz on formulating Candidate Bush 43's immigration program.

Foster is also former co-chairman of Foster Quan, LLP -- motto: "the Comprehensive Immigration Law Firm" -- and current chairman of Foster, LLP -- motto: "fostering Global Immigration Solutions." He also heads the Greater Houston Partnership on Immigration Reform, billed as "a nationwide effort to secure sensible immigration reform that meets the needs of the business community, families and our nation's economy."

Translation: "immigration reform" that legalizes and probably makes citizens out of tens of millions (and counting) of illegal aliens, who comprise a quasi-slave labor force that has cuprrupted the soul of American society,  from the corporate world to the home nursery, and gutted the wage-earning capacity of millions of Americans. As the lady said, "Adios, America."

Donald Trump's electrifying immigration-control candidacy, meanwhile, poses the biggest threat probably in US history to such "reform," not to mention to the entire globalist movement.

What a headache for Bush, Inc., that deep and central node of Poppy's own "new world order." And what a monkey wrench, too. It wasn't supposed to be this way. Why, Charles Foster, for one, was perfectly happy with Obama's dictatorial immigration "reform" measures, even applauding, for example, Obama's 2014 executive order protecting some five million illegal aliens from U.S. law and deportation. As Houston Business Journal paraphrased Foster: "Immigration lawyers will finally have a way to help business owners legitimize their workforce thanks to Obama's executive order."

Then there's legal immigration, which that nation-loving hoi polloi Trump also wants to get under control. As recently as April 29, 2015, Ted Cruz was still touting his Gang of 8 bill amendment to expand H1B visas by 500 percent. Doubtless due to the Trump Effect, Cruz now calls for a six-month moratorium on the H1B visa program. No word on what happens after that, though.

Charles Foster, naturally, remains a vigorous booster of the H1B program. I even happened across a rebuttal he wrote in 2012 to an op-ed by America's conservative sweetheart, Phyllis Schlafly, on the subject. Her oped was called "H1B Visas Take American Jobs" -- and they still do.  According to Foster, however, Schlafly was "wrong" had "no basis" and even was "ridiculous" in her arguments -- all according to the pro-amnesty, Open Borders playbook, as befits a board member and past president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, which Foster is. Pushing for Syrian refugees, condemning deporations, and supporting the so-called Gang of 8 Senate "amnesty" bill is all in a day's work for AILA, of course. That's who these people are.
Get the picture?

So this is how it all went down.

As the Texas Tribune reported:

"[Foster] got a call from Cruz, a friend dating back to Cruz’s days working on George W. Bush‘s 2000 presidential campaign.
After thinking it over, Foster came to the conclusion that Cruz is hoping many other Republicans are reaching: The Texas senator is “really the only vehicle left to stop Donald Trump.”"
Read: stop Trump's border wall, stop Trump's American, not global, trade and immigration policies.

Politico reports:

Foster spent part of Monday afternoon writing a letter to other Bush alums and former donors, urging them to come on board with Cruz in order to stop Trump.

To recap: Cruz himself selected Mr. Global Immigration Solutions as point man to mobilize the Bush finance committee for the Cruz campaign
.
How could he do that? That is, if Cruz's conversion to immigration-restrictionist (such as it is) is genuine, how could he bring himself to do this -- to ally his presidential campaign with a chief legal advocate of mass immigration and legalization/amnesty for illegal aliens? What message is he sending -- and to whom?

Similarly, if Cruz's conversion to immigration-restrictionist (such as it is) is real, why would mass-immigration superlawyer Foster want to get involved? What does superlawyer Foster believe he's getting out of opening his wallet, and the wallets of his Bush, Inc. allies -- the thrill of being on a presidential campaign?
I think not."
