"Sarah Palin issued the following statement on Facebook:

"Congratulations to Ted Cruz! This is a victory both for Ted and for the grassroots Tea Party movement. This primary race has always been about the kind of leadership we need in D.C. Our goal is not just about changing the majority in the Senate. It is about the kind of leadership we want. Ted Cruz represents the kind of strong conservative leadership we want in D.C. Go-along to get-along career politicians who hew the path of least resistance are no longer acceptable at a time when our country is drowning in debt and our children’s futures are at stake. The message of this race couldn’t be clearer for the political establishment: the Tea Party is alive and well and we will not settle for business as usual. Now, it’s on to November!"" via Legal Insurrection

Ex-Penn State Pres. Spanier who cleared child rapist and ClimateGate figure wrote doctoral dissertation on mate-swapping

.
"The difference between the Mann investigation and the Sandusky investigation is that one covered up a sex offender and the other covered up a fraud."...

7/31/12, "The Climategate and Jerry Sandusky Scandals: A Common Thread," American Thinker, T.S. Weidler

"America, it's time to meet your newest top-secret government employee: a professional cover-up artist with a radical agenda. Graham Spanier is the former Penn State University president who was fired during the Jerry Sandusky investigation for failing to properly investigate Sandusky when the pedophilia allegations first surfaced.

Spanier's "investigation" of Jerry Sandusky was so thoroughly inept that it got him fired. When it was completed, Spanier stated that he had "complete confidence in how they have handled the allegations against Sandusky," and he was fired very shortly thereafter. The recent Freeh report indicates that the investigation was conducted for the purpose of finding nothing. In other words, it was a cover-up.

It wasn't the only time Spanier rigged an inept investigation for the purpose of finding nothing. In 2010, his investigators found that Penn State climatologist Michael Mann had done nothing wrong when he invented his "hockey stick trick," to "hide the decline" and lend false credibility to climate change theory. The difference between the Mann investigation and the Sandusky investigation is that one covered up a sex offender and the other covered up a fraud.

The Climategate "Investigation"

The methodology, however, was equally bad. The "Climategate" investigation was conducted by five Penn State employees. It is available here. The five internal investigators were given a list of four specific allegations of academic fraud, and they proceeded to dismiss the three most significant allegations outright, without investigating them at all. The next step was to read 376 e-mails written by Mann and dismiss 329 of them. After this, they conducted a two-hour interview with Michael Mann, in which he (shocker!) denied doing anything wrong.

The next step was to interview two outside climatologists, noted within the report itself for their personal support of Mann himself and his science, named Dr. Gerald North from Texas A&M and Dr. Donald Kennedy from Stanford University. Naturally, these two friends supported Mann. Next, they interviewed Dr. Richard Lindzen at MIT, who accused them of ignoring the most important allegations. They ignored him and moved on. The report actually states this. "We did not respond to him."

After this, the investigators deemed that Michael Mann hadn't done anything wrong. They did not investigate three quarters of the allegations against him, and they did not interview anyone with an opposing viewpoint. President Spanier then stated, "I know they have taken the time and spent hundreds of hours studying documents and interviewing people and looking at issues from all sides." This statement is blatantly untrue, as the report itself indicates. It also sounds disturbingly similar to Spanier's statement about the Sandusky cover-up -- "I have complete confidence in how they handled the allegations against Sandusky" -- which got him fired.

When Graham Spanier organizies an internal investigation of his own celebrity employees, he finds what he wants to find, and he doesn't seem to care a lick whether it is true. An internal investigation overseen by Spanier is about as credible as a child rape investigation by the U.N.

This brings us back to Jerry Sandusky, the child rapist. There are two reasons Graham Spanier helped cover for Sandusky. First is Spanier's well-known instinct to protect his friends. Second is that Spanier himself has a radical sexual agenda.

The Child Rape cover-ups

His (Spanier's) career started in the early '70s, when he became one of the world's leading academic voices for "swinging," or mate-swapping. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the subject, and he frequently published additional essays throughout the 1970s. His conclusion was that mate-swapping is good for marriages as long as it is not done in secret. In an article on mate-swapping that he co-wrote with Charles L. Cole from 1975, we find this gem: "We choose to view deviant behavior simply as behavior that some value and others consider wrong. An individual's behavior becomes deviant only when others define it as deviant."

With this attitude toward sexual morality, does it surprise you that Spanier himself personally refused to investigate a completely different sex scandal just a few days before the allegations against Sandusky were first brought to his attention?...

If you are counting at home, that is two charges of child rape in one week that Graham Spanier personally refused to investigate. The reason the Neisworth abuse case isn't more famous is because it didn't involve a celebrity football coach.

We know that the charges were true on both counts. Sandusky is in jail, and in 2005, Neisworth was charged with additional cases of child sexual abuse. In 2006 he agreed to an out-of-court six-figure payment to McLaughlin....

Penn State knew what agenda they were getting. When they hired him in 1995, the student body president at the University of Nebraska (which Spanier had headed) warned Penn State, saying, "Watch out for his social agenda and make sure he doesn't make it a priority over academics." The warning was prescient....

The Big Promotion

America, meet your newest secret consultant. Graham Spanier, the professional cover-up artist with a history of promoting and covering evil deeds, has now been hired by your federal government for a top-secret consulting job that is so secret that we aren't even allowed to know what it is. Sounds like a good fit. This man's primary skill is covering up dark things that make people look bad.

They need him for something. They hired him as soon as he was available.

Don't believe another word they tell you."

"Business conditions in Texas-area manufacturing worsened sharply this month amid questions about future government policy although production, orders and employment stayed positive, according to a report released Monday by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

The bank said its general business activity index plunged to -13.2 in July from 5.8 in June. July's is the weakest number in 10 months. The company outlook index fell to 1.6 from 5.5....

The Dallas Fed survey is the last of the regional Fed factory reports. In general, the other surveys show a weakening in factory activity, led by falling orders.

In the Dallas Fed survey, much of the overall pessimism reflected uncertainty about Washington policy.

The report included responses that said, "Additional federal regulations from health-care laws and other agencies and the very negative tax situation have caused us to change our hiring policy," and "Businesses have put major projects on hold until after the election."

The Dallas subindexes, however, still showed some expansion, although at a slower rate than in June. The new-orders index in July slowed to 1.4 from 7.9 in June. The production index for the current month slipped to 12.0 after jumping to 15.5 in June."...

Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther voter intimidation prosecution, must pay attorney fees, Perez lied

.
"The New Black Panthers case stems from an Election Day 2008 incident where two members of the New Black Panther Party were filmed outside a polling place intimidating voters and poll watchers by brandishing a billy club."

7/30/12, "Federal Court finds Obama appointees interfered with New Black Panther prosecution," Washington Examiner, Conn Carroll

"A federal court in Washington, DC, held last week that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

The ruling came as part of a motion by the conservative legal watch dog group Judicial Watch, who had sued the DOJ in federal court to enforce a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents pertaining to the the New Black Panthers case. Judicial Watch had secured many previously unavailable documents through their suit against DOJ and were now suing for attorneys’ fees.

Obama’s DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney’s fees since “none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in” how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But United States District Court Judge Reggie Walton disagreed. Citing a “series of emails” between Obama political appointees and career Justice lawyers, Walton writes:

"The documents reveal that political appointees within DOJ were conferring about the status and resolution of the New Black Panther Party case in the days preceding the DOJ’s dismissal of claims in that case, which would appear to contradict Assistant Attorney General Perez’s testimony that political leadership was not involved in that decision. Surely the public has an interest in documents that cast doubt on the accuracy of government officials’ representations regarding the possible politicization of agency decision-making.

In sum, the Court concludes that three of the four fee entitlement factors weigh in favor of awarding fees to Judicial Watch. Therefore, Judicial Watch is both eligible and entitled to fees and costs, and the Court must now consider the reasonableness of Judicial Watch’s requested award."

The New Black Panthers case stems from an Election Day 2008 incident where two members of the New Black Panther Party were filmed outside a polling place intimidating voters and poll watchers by brandishing a billy club. Justice Department lawyers investigated the case, filed charges, and when the Panthers failed to respond, a federal court in Philadelphia entered a “default” against all the Panthers defendants. But after Obama was sworn in, the Justice Department reversed course, dismissed charges against three of the defendants, and let the fourth off with a narrowly tailored restraining order.

The Court’s decision is another piece of evidence showing the Obama Justice Department is run by individuals who have a problem telling the truth,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “The decision shows that we can’t trust the Obama Justice Department to fairly administer our nation’s voting and election laws.”

"The New Black Panther Party is a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers. Obama, "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided." speech to AIPAC, 6/4/2008

.
6/4/2008, "Transcript: Obama's Speech at AIPAC," NPR

"Illinois Sen. Barack Obama delivered a speech on Wednesday, June 4, before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.... In these prepared remarks provided by his campaign, Obama tries to allay doubts that some Jewish voters have expressed about his candidacy. He talks about his great-uncle's service in World War II, as a member of the infantry division that first liberated a Nazi concentration camp. He also calls Israel's security non-negotiable and compares his policies toward Israel with those of Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain."

parags. 22-27: "
Let me be clear. Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper — but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided.

I have no illusions that this will be easy. It will require difficult decisions on both sides. But Israel is strong enough to achieve peace, if it has partners who are committed to the goal. Most Israelis and Palestinians want peace, and we must strengthen their hand. The United States must be a strong and consistent partner in this process — not to force concessions, but to help committed partners avoid stalemate and the kind of vacuums that are filled by violence. That's what I commit to do as president of the United States.

The threats to Israel start close to home, but they don't end there. Syria continues its support for terror and meddling in Lebanon. And Syria has taken dangerous steps in pursuit of weapons of mass destruction, which is why Israeli action was justified to end that threat.

I also believe that the United States has a responsibility to support Israel's efforts to renew peace talks with the Syrians. We must never force Israel to the negotiating table, but neither should we ever block negotiations when Israel's leaders decide that they may serve Israeli interests. As president, I will do whatever I can to help Israel succeed in these negotiations. And success will require the full enforcement of Security Council Resolution 1701 in Lebanon, and a stop to Syria's support for terror. It is time for this reckless behavior to come to an end.

There is no greater threat to Israel — or to the peace and stability of the region — than Iran. Now this audience is made up of both Republicans and Democrats, and the enemies of Israel should have no doubt that, regardless of party, Americans stand shoulder to shoulder in our commitment to Israel's security. So while I don't want to strike too partisan a note here today, I do want to address some willful mischaracterizations of my positions.

The Iranian regime supports violent extremists and challenges us across the region. It pursues a nuclear capability that could spark a dangerous arms race and raise the prospect of a transfer of nuclear know-how to terrorists. Its president denies the Holocaust and threatens to wipe Israel off the map. The danger from Iran is grave, it is real, and my goal will be to eliminate this threat."...via Free Republic commenter

-----------------------------------------

7/28/12, "Obama's Top Ten United Kingdom Gaffes," John Nolte, Breitbart News

Media makes up disasters to keep the focus off Obama:

"And as proof, here are 10 examples of Obama's British gaffes, all of which the media has intentionally covered up or underplayed -- all of which are much more embarrassing than a candidate answering a question a little less diplomatically than he should have.

In no particular order:

1. The Toast:

President Inspector Clouseau completely bungles a toast to Queen Elizabeth:

The screwup: At this point, the band launched into “God Save the Queen” — but Obama continued speaking over the music: “. . . for the vitality of the special relationship between our peoples, and in the words of Shakespeare, ‘To this blessed plot, this Earth, this realm, this England.’ To the Queen.” She gave him a look, he set down his glass, and then stood motionless until the music stopped. Then everyone picked up their glasses. Oops.

Watch the video. The reaction around Captain Clueless is absolutely hysterical.

2. The iPod:

President Inspector Clouseau gifts Queen Elizabeth with an iPod loaded with videos and photos of…himself:

The bestowing of the Royal iPod brought a cringe from one top etiquette expert, who said it confirmed that Obama hasn’t figured out presidential gift-giving. Or that they shouldn’t all come from Best Buy[.]

Here's The Playlist of the Narcissist.

3. The Incompatible DVDs:

President Inspector Clouseau gifts Prime Minister Gordon Brown with a cheap box-set of DVDs incompatible with British DVD players:

As he headed back home from Washington, Gordon Brown must have rummaged through his party bag with disappointment.

Because all he got was a set of DVDs. Barack Obama, the leader of the world's richest country, gave the Prime Minister a box set of 25 classic American films - a gift about as exciting as a pair of socks.

Gordon Brown is a well-known movie fan, so I'm sure he not only appreciated the White House laying out a cool two-hundred bucks or so for a pile of DVDs he couldn't watch, but also gifting him with movies any movie fan would already own.

4. The Hug:

Touching the Queen is as big a no-no at Buckingham Palace as sincere patriotism is at the Obama White House:

Whoever briefed Michelle Obama on the things one does and doesn't do with one's hands when one meets the Queen must be wondering what went wrong.

Within minutes of their first encounter at Buckingham Palace yesterday, America's first lady broke royal protocol by doing the unthinkable: she gave the Queen a hug. The monarch, for her part, responded with equally flagrant disregard for convention by returning the gesture.

If only Michelle were so eager to embrace American liberty.

5. The Throwing of Churchill Out of the Oval Office:

Thanks to some dogged (and very entertaining) reporting from ABC's Jake Tapper, we've finally gotten to the bottom of the Obama White House's lies surrounding Churchill Bust-Gate. But the bottom line is that this remains 100% true:

But when British officials offered to let Mr. Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: "Thanks, but no thanks."

Duzza yer dug bite?

6. The Kitchen Meeting:

"The Special Relationship" hits bottom as Obama makes the British Prime Minister chase him around America like a scorned school girl:

British officials made five attempts to secure official talks with the US President and even agreed to a policy change in an attempt to land a joint appearance between the two leaders, said diplomatic sources.

But the White House rebuffed the offers and Mr. Brown, who had hoped to increase his popularity by appearing on his own with Mr. Obama, had to settle instead for a snatched conversation with the President in a New York kitchen.

7. The, uhm, Special Relationship?

Special Relationship? What Special Relationship?

The gratuitous words of a State Department official in May 2009 were particularly harmful. “There’s nothing special about Britain,” the official said. “You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.”

I don't see any Special Relationship. Do you see a Special Relationship?

8. The, uhm Special Relationship? - Part Deux:

Why don’t you take a look, because I've looked all over and there's no Special Relationship anywhere:

The Obama administration is not known for its pro-British track record, but this is by far the strongest indication yet that the current White House has little regard for the Special Relationship and its unique role in modern American history. At a White House photo opportunity with French President Nicolas Sarkozy today … President Obama had this to say:

We don’t have a stronger friend and stronger ally than Nicolas Sarkozy, and the French people.”

Quite what the French have done to merit this kind of high praise from the US president is difficult to fathom, and if the White House means what it says this represents an extraordinary sea change in US foreign policy.

Toldja there was no Special Relationship.

9. The Old Obama's-Too-Tired-To-Treat-The-British-PM-With-Respect Ploy:

It was March of 2009 and the President was exhausted from putting together the policies that would ensure our economy would never-ever-ever-ever recover.

Sources close to the White House say Mr. Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr. Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Hey, putting together an economy that produces more food stamp recipients and people on disability than jobs is exhausting.

10. The Compromising of British Intelligence:

The White House leaking national security secrets to make the President look good?

Go on!

An alleged intelligence leak regarding a covert operation that thwarted an "underwear bomb" plot last week is now creating distrust and ill feelings within the U.S. intelligence community and has led to increased talk about intelligence leaks at the highest levels of government, according to terrorism experts on Friday.

Former Central Intelligence Agency officers are openly blaming President Barack Obama, his administration, and possibly his campaign committee for undermining national security and compromising the British domestic and foreign intelligence agencies, MI5 and MI6, for political reasons, according to a U.S. counterterrorism source who contacted the Law Enforcement Examiner on Friday and requested anonymity.

"When presidents are in trouble because of their failing domestic agenda, they attempt to look presidential by getting involved in military or intelligence operations. And Obama has taken that to a whole new level," said the source.

This White House leak security secrets for political gain?

Our White House?

Shut up, racists.

The list above is not only proof that Obama is frequently a downright fool who can't stop embarrassing himself and his own country (and this list only pertains to only a single country), but that the media covers for him.

Granted, mistakes happen. Ten mistakes, however, are defining. But the corrupt media refuses to portray this President as anything other than calm, cool, and competent, even as everything he touches turns to crap.

Moreover, on The Stupid Scale, compare even one item on the Obama list to Mitt Romney answering a question inelegantly. Nothing compares. Nothing.

But damn the truth. The media is determined to portray Romney as everything Obama truly is -- a clueless, dishonest, narcissistic boob.

And it's only July."

Two most recent polls show Ted Cruz ahead of Dewhurst in Texas-Politico

.
7/29/12, "Tea party’s Cruz looks poised for Texas triumph," Politico, D. Catanese

"Ted Cruz is on the cusp of a win in the Texas Republican Senate runoff that would shatter conventional campaign wisdom and elevate him as one of the brightest stars of the tea party generation....

Despite being outspent more than 3-to-1, having never run for office and being tasked with penetrating the Lone Star State’s 20 media markets with virtually zero name recognition, Cruz is well positioned to upset Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst Tuesday. It’s a scenario that would send shockwaves through the political elite and embolden the thousands of conservatives from across the country who have descended here to help push him over the finish line.

It’s one thing for a tea party candidate to swipe away an individual House seat or dominate a party convention in a small state, but a statewide win in supersize Texas would be a new high-water mark.

Dewhurst had every advantage you can have. What Cruz has done to this point was once unthinkable and is now remarkable. He will be an overnight star if he wins, which he is favored to do right now,” said Austin-based GOP consultant Matt Mackowiak, a Cruz supporter and former press secretary to retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The two most recent public polls have shown Cruz ahead. And a Dewhurst ally with knowledge of an internal survey separate from the campaigns told POLITICO his preferred candidate was trailing by high single digits heading into the weekend.

“I think [Dewhurst’s] done,” said the Republican who shared the information in exchange for anonymity. “It’s Nebraska, Indiana. You just smell it. He’s toast.”...

An Austin-based GOP-er who runs in Dewhurst’s circles asserted the view within the campaign was equally grim, lamenting the drag of a consultant-heavy team that hadn’t prepared for the prospect of a drawn-out runoff.

The campaign has more political consultants than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir has singers,” groused the insider.

Just a few months ago, the 66-year-old Dewhurst was seen as the inevitable nominee. Backed by Gov. Rick Perry and reinforced by his coterie of close-knit aides, the lieutenant governor appeared to hold a bulletproof advantage by virtue of institutional Austin support and vast personal wealth.

But Cruz steadily transformed a threadbare campaign into a conservative calling — and a combination of raw political talent, soaring eloquence, relentless grass-roots cultivation and some good fortune helped create the perfect storm."...via Free Republic

US government takover of US GDP means a steady decline in quality of life for most Americans-Galland

"That the US government's activities as a share of GDP have gone from well under 10% at the beginning of the last century to over 40% today and will go over 50% by the time Obamacare is fully implemented – makes it clear that this country is now operating on principles that run completely contrary to those that promote success and economic well-being.

The consequence of continuing to operate on this model will be a steady decline in the quality of life for most Americans, while favoring a ruling elite that produces nothing… except more roadblocks....

Understanding what's happening and knowing where the roadblocks are likely to be just makes sense.

And having clearly set out strategies that both sidestep the roadblocks and preserve your wealth is not just a good idea – it's critical." (item near end of article)

This suicide and homicide succeeded via a silenced electorate. Both political parties wanted to silence the annoying middle class. The radical left actually thinks a 2 class system is morally superior:

4/1/2010, "The Obama Coalition," The Atlantic, Thomas Byrne Edsall

"Over the last two years, there has been a massive increase in the number of people who have no place to turn except to the government. Enactment of the Obama administration’s health care reform legislation demonstrates the growing power of this burgeoning constituency—a constituency which will reap a disproportionate share of the $1 trillion in new health care spending over the next decade....

While both the “have” and “have-not” coalitions have been growing, with the middle waning, the devastating effects of the Great Recession, the inexorable enlargement of the minority electorate, and the legions of single voters now give greater momentum to the left and to the Democratic Party....

There are many ways to measure the expanding multitudes of those in need. From February 2008 to February 2010, the number of unemployed men and women doubled from 7.4 million to 14.9 million....

There is a growing consensus among economists that the unemployment problem is likely to become structural—no longer a temporary phenomenon.

One of the most striking indicators of the potentially enduring unemployment status of many of those now out of work is the increase in the number of people who have been without jobs for six months or more. These people have the hardest time making it back into the workforce, and the growth of this population suggests that more and more people who lose a job face the danger that unemployment will become permanent....

Health care reform marks a significant milestone in the restoration of the American progressive tradition....

Obama
has taken major risks. He could go down in flames...or he could effect—
  • as promised—
  • the long-awaited
  • transformation of American politics."

The message throughout the Middle East "indicts America, among other things, for being weak." "Our ruling class’ relationship with (Middle East regimes) them,...(is) the problem’s ultimate source."

10/20/11, "The lost decade," Angelo M. Codevilla, Claremont Institute

"A decade of the War on Terror brought a government ever bigger and more burdensome, as well as security” measures that impede the innocent rather than focusing on wrongdoers. Our ruling class justified its ever-larger role in America’s domestic life by redefining war as a never-ending struggle against unspecified enemies for abstract objectives, and by asserting expertise far above that of ordinary Americans. After 9/11, far from deliberating on the best course to take, our rulers stayed on autopilot and hit the throttles....

It failed to ask the classic headwaters question: what is the problem?...

That would have pointed to the Middle East’s regimes, and to our ruling class’ relationship with them, as the problem’s ultimate source. The rulers of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Palestinian Authority had run (and continue to run) educational and media systems that demonize America. Under all of them, the Muslim Brotherhood or the Wahhabi sect spread that message in religious terms to Muslims in the West as well as at home.

  • That message indicts America, among other things, for being weak.
And indeed, ever since the 1970s U.S. policy had responded to acts of war and terrorism from the Muslim world by absolving the regimes for their subjects’ actions. For example, when Yasser Arafat’s PLO murdered U.S. ambassador Cleo Noel, our government continued building friendly relations with Arafat, and romancing the Saudi regime that was financing him. Since then the U.S. government has given
  • $2.5 billion to the PLO."...

Obama won't say that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel though in 2008 he campaigned saying 'Jerusalem was capital and forever undivided'

.
Update, 6/4/2008, Candidate Obama: "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided." 6/4/2008, "Transcript: Obama's Speech at AIPAC," NPR, parag. 22
----------------------------------------------------
A little passive-aggressive behavior says it all if any doubt remained:

7/28/12, "Carney and WH Web Site 'Follow Up' Won't Admit to What the Law Dictates: Jerusalem Is Israel's Capital," NewsBusters, Tom Blumer

"One of the most embarrassing yet telling exchanges (using the term loosely, as will be seen) in the history of presidential press secretaries occurred on Thursday. Connie Lawn, described here as longest-serving White House reporter, asked Obama Press Secretary Jay Carney what should have been a really easy question: "What city does this administration consider to be the capital of Israel -- Jerusalem or Tel Aviv?"

Carney wouldn't answer it, and accused Lawn and relentless national treasure Les Kinsolving of WND.com of asking about something they already knew. Carney's contemptible behavior has been virtually ignored in the establishment press. Here is the complete exchange as relayed at the White House's web site, complete with an asterisk, which I will explain (I have added names of the questioners where needed; a YouTube of part of what follows is here; bolds are mine)....

More to the point, as Rick Santorum noted during his presidential campaign, Congress passed a law in 1995 which, bravely assuming that laws mean anything any more, dictated what Carney's answer should have been:

... the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 made it U.S. law to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and that the waiver provision of the act only applied to moving the embassy to Jerusalem. A letter to President Bill Clinton — signed by 84 U.S. senators, including me — articulated this point.

We know the Obama administration is not complying with U.S. law.

Connie Lawn's question brought this noncompliance out into the open. We know what the answer should have been, and we now know that what should have been the answer isn't the answer -- and worse.

No wonder the rest of the establishment press, whose members at Carney press conference appear to have failed to express even the slightest bit of support for their two stonewalled colleagues, is doing everything it can to ignore what Carney said and didn't say, and the White House's cowardly attempt to "follow up.""

Top Obama adviser Samantha Power was asked in 2002 what she would do about the Israel-Palestinian situation generally:

"INTERVIEWER: "Let me give you a thought experiment here, and it is the following: without addressing the Palestine -- Israel problem, let's say you were an advisor to the President of the United States, how would you respond to current events there? Would you advise him to put a structure in place to monitor that situation, at least if one party or another [starts] looking like they might be moving toward genocide?"

Samantha Power: "Actually investing in the new state of Palestine, in investing the billions of dollars it would probably take, also, to support what will have to be a mammoth protection force, not of the old Rwanda kind, but a meaningful military presence. Because it seems to me at this stage (and this is true of actual genocides as well, and not just major human rights abuses, which were seen there), you have to go in as if you're serious, you have to put something on the line.... And, unfortunately, it does require external intervention."

----------------------------------------

4/6/11, "The ugly truth about Obama advisor Samantha Power," Washington Examiner, Neil Hrab

Ms. Power is a big proponent of volunteering US lives and endless tax dollars in wars all over the world. The left calls this "Responsibility to Protect." They believe they have the moral and intellectual superiority to decide who lives and who dies around the world. The GOP will give the left all the US taxpayer dollars it wants for this, so no problem.

Gaia is smarter than the greens, she's not Malthusian, doesn't believe anything is 'settled,' and wouldn't hire greens to run anything anyway-Mead

.
On the new energy abundance:

7/28/12, "The Energy Revolution 4: Hot Planet?," Walter Russell Mead, The American Interest

"But there is one group (other than the Russians and the Gulf Arabs and the Iranians) that isn’t sharing in the general joy: the greens. For them, the spectacle of a looming world energy crisis was good news. It justified huge subsidies for solar and wind power (and thereby guaranteed huge fortunes for clever green-oriented investors). Greens outdid themselves year after year with gloom and doom forecasts about the coming oil crunch. They hoped that public dislike of the Middle East and the costs of our involvement there could be converted into public support for expensive green energy policies here at home: “energy independence” was one of the few arguments they had that resonated widely among average voters.

Back in those salad days of green arrogance, there was plenty of scoffing at the ‘peak oil deniers’ and shortage skeptics who disagreed with what greens told us all was settled, Malthusian science. “Reality based” green thinkers sighed and rolled their eyes at the illusions of those benighted techno-enthusiasts who said that unconventional sources like shale oil and gas and the oil sands of Canada would one day become available.

Environmentalists, you see, are science based, unlike those clueless, Gaia-defying technophiles with their infantile faith in the power of human creativity. Greens, with their awesome powers of Gaia-assisted intuition, know what the future holds.

But those glory days are over now, and the smarter environmentalists are bowing to the inevitable. George Monbiot, whose cries of woe and pain in the Guardian newspaper have served as the Greek chorus at each stage of the precipitous decline of the global green movement, gave voice to green grief at the prospect of a wealthy and prosperous century to come: “We were wrong,” he wrote on July 2,”about peak oil. There’s enough to fry us all.” Monbiot now gets the politics as well....

In other words, a newly oil rich United States is going to fight even harder against global green carbon policies, and the new discoveries will tilt the American political system even farther in the direction of capitalist oil companies.

Capitalism is not, Monbiot is forced to admit, a fragile system that will easily be replaced. Bolstered by huge supplies of oil, it is here to stay. Industrial civilization is, as far as he can now see, unstoppable. Gaia, that treacherous slut, has made so much oil and gas that her faithful acolytes today cannot protect her from the consequences of her own folly....

A year later, despite the success of environmentalists like McKibben at persuading the Obama administration to block a pipeline intended to ship this oil to refineries in the US, it’s clear (as it was crystal clear all along to anyone with eyes to see) that the world has every intention of making use of the “crappy liquor.”

Again, for people who base their claim to world leadership on their superior understanding of the dynamics of complex systems, greens prove over and over again that they are surprisingly naive and crude in their ability to model and to shape the behavior of the political and economic systems they seek to control. If their understanding of the future of the earth’s climate is anything like as wish-driven, fact-averse and intellectually crude as their approach to international affairs, democratic politics and the energy market, the greens are in trouble indeed. And as I’ve written in the past, the contrast between green claims to understand climate and to be able to manage the largest and most complex set of policy changes ever undertaken, and the evident incompetence of greens at managing small (Solyndra) and large (Kyoto, EU cap and trade, global climate treaty) political projects today has more to do with climate skepticism than greens have yet understood. Many people aren’t rejecting science; they are rejecting green claims of policy competence. In doing so, they are entirely justified by the record....

The problem is the original sin of much environmental thought: Malthusianism. If greens weren’t so addicted to Malthusian horror narratives they would be able to see that the new era of abundance is going to make this a cleaner planet faster than if the new gas and oil had never been found.

Let’s be honest. It has long been clear to students of history, and has more recently begun to dawn on many environmentalists, that all that happy-clappy carbon treaty stuff was a pipe dream and that nothing like that is going to happen. A humanity that hasn’t been able to ban the bomb despite the clear and present dangers that nuclear weapons pose isn’t going to ban or even seriously restrict the internal combustion engine and the generator.

The political efforts of the green movement to limit greenhouse gasses have had very little effect so far, and it is highly unlikely that they will have more success in the future. The green movement has been more of a group hug than a curve bending exercise, and that is unlikely to change. If the climate curve bends, it will bend the way the population curve did: as the result of lots of small human decisions driven by short term interest calculations rather than as the result of a grand global plan....

Perhaps, and I know this is a heretical thought, but perhaps Gaia is smarter than the greens." via Tom Nelson

=============================

Ed. note: Someday George Bush the 1st will get the credit he deserves for the past 22 years of the green movement. He institutionalized Global Warming 'action' in US government in 1990: "U.S. Global Change Research Act of 1990." (He mentions CO2 near the end).

UK Olympic Opening Ceremonies showed the death throes of a civilization-Dyer

.
7/28/12, "Olympic opening ceremonies and the death throes of a civilization," Hot Air Green room, J.E. Dyer

"Watching the ceremony last night, I had a profound sense of sadness for the hollow revelry. There was no dignified memorializing of the greatness, uniqueness, and courage of Britain’s past. There was “irreverent, idiosyncratic” entertainment, and a very long segment of writhing self-abasement before the shibboleth of socialized medicine.

We seemed to be looking last night at a moment frozen in time before a great upheaval, like the last days of lingering sunlight before World War I. A civilization based on entertainment and ritual political worship is headed for a fall. But then, a civilization that singles out some humans, like Israeli Jews, to show less care for – less solidarity with – is a weak and unsustainable one. Nothing else will go right with it.

Britain is not alone in her shallow, artistic commemorations of a dying culture. Western Europe’s official vision of itself largely boils down to that. I believe there are still many individuals in Europe – as distinct from the ruling precincts of political correctness and utopianism – who have the courage to forge a different future. But as a useful vehicle for what needs to be done, the continent’s official organizations, its governments and agencies, are beyond their expiration date. Too many of them

  • do not serve the people now, but only indenture and discourage them.

Such a situation cannot endure. No amount of artistic entertainment can make fear, loss of purpose, and politically correct weakness noble or inspiring, much less invincible. The post-liberal culture and political idea of Europe are not in a position to triumph today. They are not even in a position to survive." (scroll down)

Unconscionable behavior of the political class must be seen as a contagious disease-Zero Hedge guest

.
On 'The Road to Serfdom':

7/28/12, "The State As A Fantasy," Zero Hedge, guest post, James E. Miller

"The unconscionable behavior of the political class should be thought of as a contagious disease that infiltrates any industry that comes within influence of the state. Government contractors, lobbying associations, favored corporations, and even the press all seek to use the monopolized power of government to further their own interests. Instead of attempting to roll back stifling regulations, many of these firms simply wish to get in on the spoils of the great extortionary scheme. The results are always the same. Politicians pretend to be saving the people from cold-natured capitalism while politically-connected businessmen and bankers act as if their commercial success is completely of their own doing. The hidden truth is both act in tandem to fleece the average taxpayer.

The fantasy then continues unabated. As F.A. Hayek recognized in The Road to Serfdom, central planners and their intellectual patrons achieve their power by gathering the

support of all the docile and gullible, who have no strong convictions of their own but are prepared to accept a ready-made system of values if it is only drummed into their ears sufficiently loudly and frequently.”

No matter how many times government policy fails to deliver on its promises, the reasoning stays the same: Politicians just need more tax dollars to spend goods into existence, central bankers need to print more money, human rights must be stripped away to ensure safety, consumers need to spend more and save less,
  • and government will always know best."...(scroll down in article)
