SEC has not terminated pervs who robbed taxpayers by viewing pornography on company time

  • Pervs still welcomed with open arms, identities protected by SEC.
Even a senior SEC attorney who viewed porn 300 times was not terminated.
  • "The SEC - not the inspector general, who investigates the cases -
  • determines employee sanctions. SEC officials, who have said they first referred the pornography matters to the inspector general's office, defended their handling of the cases. ...
The names of the SEC employees and contractors investigated were not released in the documents provided in response to The Times' open-records request.
  • In a letter, the inspector general's office said the names would not be released in part because
  • doing so could subject individuals to "harassment and annoyance in the conduct of their official duties
  • and private lives.""

How Mexico treats its own illegal aliens

"– The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics.” How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?

If outsiders do not enhance the country’s “economic or national interests” or are “not found to be physically or mentally healthy,” they are not welcome.

  • Neither are those who show “contempt against national sovereignty or security.” They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories.

Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence,

– Illegal entry into the country is equivalent to a felony punishable by two years’ imprisonment. Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud. Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years’ imprisonment.

  • Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country (see, for example, President Obama’s illegal alien aunt — a fugitive from deportation for eight years who is awaiting a second decision on her previously rejected asylum claim).

– Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities."...from Michelle Malkin

Goldman Sachs well placed to keep US middle class chasing their tails

Goldman Sachs has been well embedded in
  • US government for years now.

Global warming and illegal alien profiteers unite: Evil Americans owe reparations in perpetuity (ie the Soros-Rockefeller-Obama agenda)

  • Why would anyone in their right mind advocate chaos and anarchy? Answer: No one in their right mind would do so, as it invites their own death. Those who advocate this position can only be described as mentally defective and a danger to society.
"The Arizona immigration law prompted Seth Minkoff of Somerville, a professor at UMass Boston, to write a letter to the Boston Globe, titled ‘Illegal' immigrants have moral claim on US citizenship rights:
  • "...some of us also feel that the fundamental aim of this law - enforcement of federal immigration regulations - is immoral.
A great many undocumented immigrants come here from countries that the United States has systematically devastated for generations by overthrowing democracy (as in Guatemala), sponsoring dictatorship and state terror (Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Haiti), and invading and annexing territory (Mexico). Actions such as these have helped the United States to control a grossly outsized share of world resources.

Until the US share of world resources is proportional to its population, so-called illegal immigrants will have a moral claim second to none on the rights of US citizenship. Arizona's new law, like the federal laws it seeks to enforce, is an assault on people's basic right to feed and clothe their families - in other words, on their right to access their fair share of the planet's wealth, the patrimony of humanity." ****
I have heard of open borders advocates, but I didn't realize how radical the concept is.

We owe reparations to Central America? How exactly did overthrowing democracy in Guatemala make us rich? Annexing territory? Settlers from England fought with settlers from Spain over territory in the southwest. We won. We even paid for some of it (see Gadsden Purchase).

The planet's wealth is the patrimony of humanity? In other words, private property is theft.

"Until the US share of world resources is proportional to its population"? Does this mean that
  • once we have redistributed American wealth on a global scale, making everyone equally poor, we can then limit immigration?
The brilliance of the scheme is that at this point,
Minkoff describes immigration laws as an "assault." His dream of global
  • redistribution is an assault on the generations of Americans whose hard work created our great wealth."

33 SEC employees watched porn while country died-another Getaway Day big news story

  • Nothing will happen to them. This behavior is expected in third world toilets.
As suggested by NY Magazine, perhaps the real reason for huge media blitz around the recent
Washington Post:"A senior attorney at the SEC's Washington headquarters spent up to eight hours a day looking at and downloading pornography. When he ran out of hard drive space, he burned the files to CDs or DVDs, which he kept in boxes around his office. He agreed to resign, an earlier watchdog report said.

- An accountant was blocked more than 16,000 times in a month from visiting websites classified as "Sex" or "Pornography." Yet he still managed to amass a collection of "very graphic" material on his hard drive by

  • using Google images to bypass the SEC's internal filter, according to an earlier report from the inspector general. The accountant refused to testify in his defense, and received a 14-day suspension.

- Seventeen of the employees were "at a senior level," earning salaries of up to $222,418.

  • - The number of cases jumped from two in 2007 to 16 in 2008. The cracks in the financial system emerged in mid-2007 and spread into full-blown panic by the fall of 2008."...(Washington Post)

Obama-cap and trade bill to add 15% personal income tax equivalent

CBSNews, 9/15/09: "The Obama administration has privately concluded
  • that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of
  • hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.
A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration's estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.
  • A second memorandum, which was prepared for Obama's transition team after the November election, says this about climate change policies: "Economic costs will likely be on the order of 1 percent of GDP, making them equal in scale to all existing environmental regulation."
The documents (PDF) were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute and released on Tuesday.
  • These disclosures will probably not aid the political prospects of the Democrats' cap and trade bill. The House of Representatives approved it by a remarkably narrow margin in June -- the bill would have failed if only six House members had switched their votes to "no" -- and it faces significant opposition in the Senate."...

How the left won Colorado--rich guys made politics private

The 2006 and 2008 election cycles were unkind to the Republican Party, but

Of course they were aided by the new campaign finance reform laws, but what the “Gang of Four” (Rutt Bridges, Tim Gill, Jared Polis and Pat Stryker) did was replicate all of the essential functions of the Colorado Democratic Party–and added a few more for good measure.

To understand what happened in Colorado is to understand the future of state-level politics, but I think the future of American politics as a whole: I’m convinced that what the Left did in Colorado at the state-level can be done on a national level by creating a conservative privatized political infrastructure.

Islam threatens Somalis with death for playing music on radio, Somalis turn off music

BBC: "Most radio stations in Somalia have stopped playing music, on the orders of Islamist Hizbul-Islam insurgents who say that songs are un-Islamic.
  • The stations said they had to comply with the ban as if they did not, they would be putting their lives at risk.

The BBC correspondent in Somalia says this latest order has strong echoes of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

  • In the past, militants in some areas have banned watching films and football and forced men to grow beards.

Somalia has not had a functioning central government since 1991 and the Islamist militants control large parts of its territory.

  • The transitional government - backed by African Union troops and UN funds - controls only a small part of the capital, Mogadishu.

The BBC's Mohammed Olad Hassan in Mogadishu says the order to stop playing music and jingles was issued 10 days ago. All but two of the city's 15 radio stations used to broadcast music.

  • Residents can now only hear music from the government-controlled radio station and another Kenya-based UN-funded radio station, which has a FM transmitter in Mogadishu, he says.

"We are using other sounds such as gunfire, the noise of the vehicles and birds to link up our programmes and news," said Abdulahi Yasin Jama, Tusmo radio's head of the programmes.

Another radio controller said he feared they would lose listeners and advertisers.

Pop music is genuinely popular in Mogadishu and many people resent being told what they can hear on the radio, our reporter says.

  • Last week, al-Shabab, the country's other big militant group, closed down BBC radio relay stations in five cities in southern Somalia, including Mogadishu.

On Tuesday, it issued a statement explaining that it ordered the seizure of BBC transmitters in response to sanctions imposed on the group by the UK government.

  • But Jerry Timmins, head of the BBC World Service's Africa region, said the equipment belongs to the BBC which is independent of the government.

He said the broadcaster's job was to report impartially and accurately and from all sides, including al-Shabab, and the closures deprived Somalis in the south of a vital source of information.

  • Meanwhile, the UN has warned that hospitals in Mogadishu are being overwhelmed by casualties from fighting in the city.

World Health Organization spokesman Paul Garwood said that last month alone at least 900 injuries were reported at the city's three main hospitals.

  • "Health care workers are struggling to cope; they are overwhelmed with the huge increase in wounded. It is stretching an already weak health care system to the limit," Paul Garwood told Reuters news agency.

WHO figures show that only 250 qualified doctors and fewer than 900 nurses are working in Somalia."

Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch should not be surprised by Obama's treatment of Israel

  • In the case of Israel, Obama and his group show an agenda-which was predictable-but also their brutal rudeness--when being polite would have cost nothing. As Mayor Koch notes, Jews in America are not getting angry which of course is sad. On the other hand is the much discussed topic of why the vast majority of Jewish people, religious or not, vote as liberal democrats. The far left as a whole was least likely to defend Israel--putting it mildly. The only chance for a friend of Israel has been from right of center politicians, but Jewish voters could not bring themselves to make a change in self identity, that of being a liberal democrat. They made their choice, and it wasn't Israel.
Ed Koch, 4/12: "I weep as I witness outrageous verbal attacks on Israel. What makes these verbal assaults and distortions all the more painful is that they are being orchestrated by President Obama....
The members of AIPAC, the chief pro-Israel lobbying organization in Washington, gave Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
  • a standing ovation after she had carried out the instructions of President Obama and, in a 43-minute telephone call, angrily hectored Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
  • Members of Congress in both the House and Senate have made pitifully weak statements against Obama's mistreatment of Israel, if they made any at all.

The Democratic members, in particular, are weak. They are simply afraid to criticize President Obama."...

Eco-Imperialism intentionally ravaging the world's poor

"The Working Group on Climate Change and Development is a network of more than 20 NGOs including WWF, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace.
  • Founded in 2004, its "central message is that

The group's most recent report lists the overarching challenges as (1) how to stop and reverse further climate change, (2) how to live with the degree of climate change that cannot be stopped and (3) how to design a new model for human progress and development that is climate-friendly. The makes fascinating reading –

  • and is illuminating as to the ideological backdrop to development policy.

These environmental groups, while spanning quite a large spectrum, tend to demonstrate an affinity with

  • the pro-rural socialist left.

The report describes climate change as not just a threat but also an "opportunity" to re-think the entire global system. It challenges western notions of development and growth and, most starkly, concludes that "mere reform within the current global economic system will be insufficient" to tackle poverty in a carbon constrained future. Indeed, members of these groups often seem to

  • embrace rural village life as representing a pre-industrial idyll which should be preserved.

Such romantic ideology therefore seeks to largely maintain the status quo – where the African poor are kept "traditional" and "indigenous". It's hard to disagree with Lord May, former president of the Royal Society in his observation that

  • "much of the green movement isn't a green movement at all, it's political".

With poverty redefined in terms of the environment and infused with pro-rural socialism, large-scale projects to industrialise or modernise are not the priority – indeed, western-style development and modernisation are seen as part of the problem.

  • Instead there is a self-limiting bottom-up approach which subsidises underdevelopment not as a transitionary phase but
  • as an end goal.

To effectively sideline the development strategy that every western country has undertaken in raising living standards is remarkable. Indeed, while India and China have lifted at least 125m people out of slum poverty since 1990,

  • over the same period 46 countries have actually got poorer – the large majority of them African states.

It would be too simplistic to prescribe the industrialisation and modernisation agenda pursued by India and China as a panacea for the problems of sub-Saharan Africa, and the Indian and Chinese policies have not been without adverse consequences. Nevertheless, it is a staggering achievement which demonstrates that poverty alleviation should be pursued through a developmental agenda.

  • The truth is that African poverty is not a result of global warming.

It is likely that the poor will be disproportionately affected by global changes in temperature – but this is not a reason to limit development.

For example, the Netherlands is better prepared to build dams to protect its coastline from rising sea levels than Bangladesh. Those that will be hardest hit by global changes to temperature will be those who are most exposed to the vagaries of the environment now – the rural poor.

Environmental policies that seek to reinforce the rural status quo as a means of limiting carbon emissions may be of benefit to the developed world, but they are detrimental to the long-term ability of the poor to cope with climate change. The planned South African power plant at Limpopo exposes the collision between these different policy aims. With the country going to the World Bank for a £2.4bn loan, international governments have been forced to weigh up developmental advantage versus environmental damage.

South Africa suffers major power shortages and insists that a new plant is essential to the country's economic progress. Environmentalists are horrified that the plant will emit 25m tonnes of carbon per annum, and point out that much of the new electricity will be used by heavy industry.

  • Despite a concerted lobbying campaign from environmental groups, the loan was approved on Thursday – albeit with abstentions from Britain, America and the Netherlands.
  • A US treasury spokesman explained that the abstention was due to an "incompatibility with the World Bank's commitment to be a leader in climate change mitigation and adaption".

Considering that the World Bank's first affirmed purpose is to alleviate poverty, we can see how pervasive the reframing of poverty in terms of environment has become.

  • It is up to the developed world to produce the technologies for cleaner energy and implement policies to significantly reduce carbon emissions. It is not acceptable to use global warming as a way of limiting growth in poor African countries when our own climate emissions continue to rise.

Environmental movements certainly have a role to play in highlighting ecological degradation and its impact on local people, and in some cases the interests of protecting the environment will be perfectly aligned with the needs of the local community. However, it is unacceptable for poverty reduction in the developing world to become a staging post for ideological battles lost elsewhere. We should embrace whatever methods provide the best outcome in alleviating poverty – whether that be new roads or airports, power stations or renewables. To do otherwise is to be guilty of the worst kind of eco-imperialism – where the poor are held back for the benefit of the rich."

Disenfranchised US voters mirrored in UK with politicians mired in global warming fraud

"A final huge shadow which will barely be discussed at this election,
  • because the main parties are all but unanimous on it, is the way our politics has become permeated by
  • everything which can be related to global warming,
from soaring taxes to the propaganda dished out in our schools, from the wishful thinking that we can spend £100 billion on building thousands more useless wind turbines,
  • to the disastrous distortion of our national energy policy by the "green" obsessions of both the EU and our own political class, which threaten within a few years to turn Britain's lights out. (Although next week I hope to reveal an unexpected way in which this might be averted.)

This flight from reality was never better exemplified than by the 2008 Climate Change Act, committing Britain, uniquely in the world, to reducing its carbon emissions by more than four fifths. Even the Government admits that this will cost us up to £18 billion every year for four decades, making it by far the most costly law in our history.

  • Though its target could only be met by virtually closing down our economy,
  • such is the bubble of unreality in which our political class lives that our MPs voted for this insane law almost unanimously,
  • without having any idea of its practical implications.

The real tragedy of what has happened to Britain in the past 20 years is that we no longer have an opposition worthy of the name. It is almost impossible to measure the damage done by 13 years of rule by Blair and Brown. They have left the country effectively bankrupt, its manufacturing industry halved, the City tottering and under threat. They have allowed the United Kingdom to splinter, debauched the House of Lords and brought politics into contempt. They have done irreparable damage to our Armed Forces (not least through the humilating fiasco which led to our being thrown out of Iraq). Our country's standing on the world stage has never been lower.

Yet, as the worst Government in our history has presided over this catastrophe, we have had an Opposition so hypnotised by the devilry of the "Blair revolution" that in fundamental respects it has scarcely been an opposition at all. Having had the stuffing knocked out of it by the way it got rid of Mrs Thatcher,

Three virtually indistinguishable parties squabble over trivia, leaving the electorate without any clear alternative –

Green jobs flop-government lacks know how required to create jobs

Fresno, Ca.: "After a year of crippling delays, President Barack Obama's $5 billion program to install weather-tight windows and doors has retrofitted a fraction of homes and created far fewer construction jobs than expected.

  • In Indiana, state-trained workers flubbed insulation jobs. In Alaska, Wyoming and the District of Columbia, the program has yet to produce a single job or retrofit one home. And in California, a state with nearly 37 million residents, the program
  • at last count had created 84 jobs.

The program was a hallmark of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a way to shore up the economy while encouraging people to conserve energy at home. But government rules about how to run what was deemed to be a "shovel-ready" project, including how much to pay contractors and how to protect historic homes during renovations, have thwarted chances at early success, according to an Associated Press review of the program."...

Back room deal to contaminate voter roles in Wisconsin pending

Our planet has a 'fever' but not for the reason Al Gore suggests. It's election theft attacking state by state, Soros fashion, with rapid-fire back room deals to corrupt voter roles. Now happening in Wisconsin and perhaps elsewhere. There seems to be no political will to stop the left among elected persons. I wonder why.
  • "According to a Republican Wisconsin state senator, Democrats there plan to change the election rules in November with inadequate scrutiny. In other words, a stealth attack on the integrity of the electoral process. Like ObamaCare, this is a change-the-game legislative proposal that could not withstand scrutiny. Wisconsin Senator Glenn Grothman alerts us that Democrats are trying to push a radical 72-page bill less than 16 hours after its hearing. He writes:
"Senate Bill 640 [is] a bill which radically changes Wisconsin election law going into this year's election. The 72-page bill was not even introduced until March 23.
Senate Bill 640 makes many changes to Wisconsin election law including the following:
  • 1) The bill allows municipalities to set up satellite absentee ballot stations for early voting. These stations apparently could be done in college dorms, outside of bars, or other inappropriate locals.
  • 2) The current open government practice of allowing any citizen to challenge individual ballots would end as monitoring of elections of statewide or national significance would be restricted to people who live within that polling district.
  • 3) Permanent absentee ballot status would be established in which ballots would be sent to people who historically do not vote in low-turnout elections. Currently, permanent absentee ballot status is restricted to people who are confined because of age, physical illness, infirmity, or disabled infinitely making them unable to get to the polls.
  • 4) University IDs could be offered as proof of residence for registration and voting.
  • 5) The increased cost of processing and mailing out the additional absentee ballots is an unfunded mandate that local municipalities will not be able to absorb.
