“Michele Flournoy, former undersecretary of Defense for Policy under President Obama, and Philip Zelikow, who served in President George H.W. Bush’s National Security Council, talked about U.S. defense policy. Nicholas Burns moderated.

Excerpt from Aspen Institute Strategy Group session (introduced above) referencing handing out the US military for UN use:

The Aspen Institute is notorious for being the think tank behind national policy. The discussion centered on how to manage a military that is expensive and getting more so.

John Negroponte, former Ambassador to the UN and the first director of the National Intelligence Agency (George W. Bush) made a suggestion about an hour and 14 minutes into the discussion.

Why,” he said, “doesn’t the United States do some ‘capacitating’ with the UN peacekeeping forces? It would be much cheaper. In fact, in a word, outsourcing our military requirements to the UN would be an order of magnitude cheaper.”

Both former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Michele Flournoy and former National Security Council member Philip Zelikow [George H.W. Bush] agreed that this would be a good idea.

So efficient! So cheap!” link to C-Span video above

Comment: The US taxpayer is already a servant of the UN and of course turns over part of his paycheck to his UN superiors. I may be missing something, but even if the UN paid us for giving them our soldiers to be maimed and killed they’d just be giving us back our own money. The UN is under no obligation to pay us back or be in any way accountable for the billions in US taxpayer dollars funneled to them yearly.
