21st century termites masquerading as urban planners aren't safe from The Tea Party

.
12/14/11, "How the Tea Party Is Upending Urban Planning," Anthony Flint, The Atlantic Cities, Place Matters

The guy who wrote this piece forgets that most of the 'planning' that's been done for us was without our knowledge or agreement. We're just getting in on it at the 11th hour as commenters explain:

1. "Bob Root

Agenda 21, [signed by George Bush #1, and continued by executive orders], PPP, and the many NGO's are now being well understood by the public. We will not rest until Obama's Executive Orders to the EPA, HUD, DOE etc. are gone. The global warming lies are now being exposed as a fraud. Almost all of these sustainable projects fail in terms of economics and results. I would advise urban planners pushing projects with phony numbers to really do your homework because we will be watching every detail. Most of you will need to find a new form of employment."

2. "Politicalpony

Flint, Black Helicopters? You only wish that you could brush this off as some ridiculous mindless adventure of the "uneducated". Sir, one only needs to look up the NGO "None Governmental Organization" that goes by the acronym ICLEI. One only needs to read the United Nations Agenda 21 and see the relationship between the two. One only need read their towns Master Plan and see the relationship. One only needs to understand the the twisted vocabulary throughout any of these initiatives. Then one only needs to see whats happening around them. From laws mandating what light bulb we can use, to the abuse and over taking of private auto industry with ridiculous mandates of fuel efficiency. Shall we talk about the makes you and or any professor smarter and all knowing, better the we the American people?. All in the name of protecting who and what? There is no conspiracy theory. What has happened is that the socialist movement has gotten so brave as to think they have us fooled so much that we are ready to accept someone other than ourselves to tell us how we should live. Obama may have gotten away with his socialist/marxist program had he waited just one more generation. Perhaps by then the final generation that will stop this would have been gone. But guess what! We Are Still Here! We see and we know. Therefore your white wash good feeling word won't work. Understand that there is no room for this nonsense. You make mention of Kelo and the affirming of eminent domain. That decision was flawed. It allowed for the "Taking", the unconstitutional TAKING of private property. Once there is no longer the ability to maintain the right of private property there it's no more freedom. The only Utopia man has ever known throughout history is found in our constitution. I suggest you get a copy and learn it. Get on the winning side, or you lose."

3. "Froggey1

Mr. Flint, do you live in this country? Do you even have the slightest idea where your rights and responsibilities lie? Apparently not because you are vilifying and objectifying fellow Americans whose ONLY agenda is to protect YOUR rights! They are not problems to be solved! They are freedom fighters to be joined!"

4. "KellyKAFIR

Nice Alinsky tactics... Make fun of us and demonize all you want bit we aren't going away. You useful idiots, knowingly or not, are helping destroy our rights. And we will keep fighting this until this garbage is out of the U.S."...

2/26/11, "Agenda 21 Part III: Maryland County Abolishes Agenda 21 – Now it’s Your Turn," Big Government, James M. Simpson

"The November elections marked a sea change in the political landscape at every level of government nationwide. Right now, all eyes are focused on the Wisconsin standoff between Governor Scott Walker and the public employee unions. But
  • under the radar, completely overlooked by the mass media, is
the unprecedented move recently taken by newly-elected Carroll County, Maryland Commissioners Richard Rothschild, Robin Frazier, Haven Shoemaker, Dave Roush and Doug Howard, who abolished the County’s Office of Sustainability.

They then voted unanimously to drop out of
  • the UN’s International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI).
  • They are the first governmental organization to do so.

For those unfamiliar with the sustainable development agenda, this might not seem like much,

  • but it is huge.
If you have been following my recent series on the subject, you will know that local Sustainability offices, under the auspices of the ICLEI’s Local Governments for Sustainability, are the
  • tiny, visible tip of the monstrous Agenda 21 sustainable development iceberg,
the ultimate goal of which is to transform American society from the bottom up into a socialist ward of UN global governance. [See detailed public UN documents written at numerous global conventions. Obama UN appointee Susan Rice is currently attending a UN 'sustainability' conference as opposed to attending meetings in NY about Libya]. As of today, there are
who have signed on to this Trojan Horse.
  • Minus one.

All the commissioners are to be commended for this bold decision. Predictably, the left is up in arms. The commissioners have already been challenged to a debate on their decision and the other side wants to bring in heavy hitters from the EPA and the Maryland Department of the Environment in an

I think the commissioners took some skin.

Richard Rothschild led the charge. He campaigned on this issue, framing it, appropriately, as a matter of private property rights. In an American Thinker article he co-wrote last summer with Scott Strzelczyk, he explained that:

“Sustainability has less to do with the environment, and everything to do with economics. It is an attack on capitalism,
  • and an attack on America’s middle class lifestyle.”

Rich recently discussed Agenda 21 in a radio address. Listen here. This is the kind of leadership that has been sorely lacking at all levels of government and hopefully his example and that of his fellow commissioners

  • will embolden more such individuals to step forward before it is too late."
